I just got some river cane from Ray Hammond (aka the Hog Heaven guy). If anyone is looking for a good pile of arrow cane, he is interested in selling more. The shipping tube was stuffed...this is maybe 2/3 full - there were 60 pieces total.

Here is a typical piece -

And here is some after preliminary straightening.

Now I just need to let it cure. I haven't made cane arrows before, so I am definitely not an expert...but so far, so good!
I gathered some from the Tennessee river bottoms about 3 years ago, and the shafts are still untouched in the garage. I got a book and the info on turning them into arrows, but it's beginning to look like too much work for me.
Good luck! A finished cane arrow is pretty cool
Ray does have some good cane.
Tim that's a great job of straightening.
I'm sending out a box to Virginia in the morning to a Ganger!
