Title: Recurve "tuning" question
Post by: TexAginWV on August 22, 2007, 03:19:00 PM
Howdy folks.  I'm a relative n00b to trad bow shooting.  I just got my first trad bow, a bob lee takedown recurve, a month ago.  I bought it used and am picking all this up on the fly.

My question is related to tuning.  The bow is shooting well, and I'm getting better, but I wanted to know the following:

1) How do I measure brace height on this bow?  From the back of the shelf? Deepest part of the grip?

2) What is a normal range for the brace height on this bow?

3) Should I just set and forget my brace height, or should I tune it, and if so, what am I looking for when shooting it with slightly different brace heights, e.g., how do I know when I've found the sweet spot?

4) Finally, I assume when I get the brace height set this will change my nocking point?

Thanks for your patience!

1)I measure from the deepest part of the grip.
2)8-9 inches. but that is what works for me.
3)I would just do small changes and see what works best for you. as you get better you may change it again.  :)
4)no, but I am sure someone will say other wise.

I called bob lee and asked them what the brace height should be. Sandy will be glad to give you the info.
