Does anyone have any info on Early seson Bow hunting in Kentucky for Deer. A friend of mine along with myself are contemplating going on a hunt in Kentucky for invelvet bucks. Does anyone know of any reputable guides and Lodges?

Season opens the 1st Saturday of September. That will be September 7th this year.
The hunting is terrific, especially if you have hayfields in your hunting area. The deer can be scouted from a distance if using hayfields. Bucks in velvet are possible.
About 30% of KY's bowseason harvest is taken in September.
Some think it is too hot. Not me. In fact, opening day in 2011 was 40 degrees. Of course that isn't the normal high for early September.
The average hi/lo temperature in September is 80 and 47. The same for October is 69 and 47.
Deer Creek Lodge located in western KY has been quite productive for many years. They do have a web-site.
Several prominent names in the whitetail hunting world have hunted there.
Used to guide for them, however that was for geese. Actually, guided Byran Ferguson w/LB there on a goose hunt.
I usually avoid the early season just because it's so hot, but a lot of guys have good luck. I'd look into the Clay WMA, but that's purely a guess. I still haven't found a great place to hunt and I've been here since 1998.
I know there are some guides in KY, I see them on TV shows. Most are in western Kentucky.
If you go to KDFWR's website you can find information. If you want to see lots of deer you should concentrate on Zone 1 counties -- these are counties with more than 40 deer per square mile. East KY with its 93% forested landscape contains the state's lowest deer denssities, except for the NE corner which is better.
I know another operator in Harrison County which is south of Cincinnati.
Last year more than 65 KY bucks made Boone & Crockett.
A neat place to hunt is Land Between the Lakes between Lake Barkley and KY Lake just north of TN and west of Murray, KY. This is a huge public tract which has a long hunting history. Even Fred Bear hunted this area when deer hunting was scarce in KY. They have lots of campgrounds, convenient access and excellent wildlife management programs. I've never hunted there because I don't travel to hunt in my "home" state.

If I were you and was getting serious about an outfitter I would:
1. Find out what county they are located in.
2. Call KDFWR at 502 564-3400 and get the Wildlife Officer's contact informtion for that county.
3. Call the officer and ask for his insight.
The officer could probably tell you a lot.
