If there is any successful coyote hunters out there, would you please PM me? I have a couple questions for you, well that and congratulate you for allowing more bunnies to prosper.
I'm sure Thumper Dunker will be along soon
Thumper Dunker is a coyote killing machine!
Mike,
I sent you a PM
Thumper Dunker is "THE" king of coyotes. Give him a rifle and theyd become extinct.
Like they said: Thumper Dunker is the trad coyote king!

Thanks for the PM's guys, and I also Sent one to Tim (Thumper Dunker). Ihave always wanted to shoot one or plenty, just have not closed the deal yet.
Ya thumper dunker oughta chime in...success and coyotes are his middle names!
Coyote with a recurve is truly an unbelievable trophy. I would think if you got into calling you might be able to get a couple close enough to pull off a shot. I've never seen a yote stand still for more than a 1/2 second so you'd have to be really quick on the draw!!
Tim is the man to ask he has the know how on hunting coyotes. :archer2:
I bet Thumper Dunker could kill one with a knife.
bet he could kill one with a sling shot....
How bout some coyote trad archery strategy from those with experience
Night?
Dawn/dusk?
Calling?
the game warden I talked to said we'd all be doing ourselves a favor taking more yotes.
Every yote equals more deer and turkies!
Great topic.
Here is a link to a Thumper Dunker thread.

Look for some articles/books by Dennis Kirk. He's got some good techniques for hunting eastern coyotes in woods/heavy cover. Little bit different game than western coyotes.
Where is Tim (Thumper Dunker) the yote master! Lets howl and see if he will respond.

Heck, I'd bet he could kill one with just a mean look!
What he does to coyotes with trad gear is about the most amazing thing in hunting that I know of. If he did the same thing with a gun it would still be amazing.
Thumper Dunker is the Chuck Norris of Coyote killers.
You need to get an ACME safe and anvil and a long length of rope. It's the only way to get those coyotes out here in California. :)
I've gotten one with a recurve. My strategy was simple: Deer hunt for 30 years and don't miss when a coyote happens by.
I agree it was the most incredible trophy I've taken...probably because it was most unexpected.
Coyotes with a bow are tough.

Tim, Tim, Tim, Tim!!!!
I agree with Mike, let's all howl or maybe a distressed rabbit call would work.
I hunt them seriously, but with a rifle, from Sept thru Feb. I do try to get one or two a year with my recurve. Its great fun. I make handcalls and use them most times, but will also use an E-caller as well.
I have gained great respect for coyotes over the years, as they are an awsome animal to hunt, or simply watch.
Heres a rare white one that I unfortunatly hit with my pickup a couple weeks ago. Beautiful California coyote:
