Just wondering, I ordered one a few weeks ago and have a few more weeks to wait. I haven't purchased a new bow for a few years so I'm really looking forward to it. Anyone order a Black Widow recently. How long until it arrived? :bigsmyl:
Thanks,
Tedd
They tell you about 8 weeks, it's usually 6.
Which one lol. I have had them come from 4-7 weeks.
I was hoping you would say it its a shorter wait than they tell you! That is a pretty darn good lead time for a bow.
It's a PCHX. I have never had a takedown. It's got to be really handy to throw in the truck and head to camp.
Awesome bow. I.bought a PCH in '10. It's my #1 bow at the moment.....got my KB X in November......what woods did you order?
No matter what Tedd. It won't arrive soon enough! Great choice. I love Widows!
I have a KBX...... Think it came in about 7 to 8 weeks
Hey Tedd , I ordered a PTFX eight weeks ago and been told next week . It would have been ready this week but the BW Gang are picky and will do right .
It has a Zercote riser and Myrtle Burl limb veneers , the wait is killing me and am doing a lot of Salmon fishing in an attempt to console myself . It`s working (the fishing that is) but the angst is still there .
The limb veneers came from IdahoCurt are are rather different , they could look like a dog`s breackfast or very nice .
Guess I be on the river all week .
Cheers from the Country that has everthing except the Stanley Cup.
Thanks. I'm 4 weeks into the wait. It's ordered just like the photo of the one on Blacky Swarz's website. The bow called "Dark Side". Zircote Riser and tiger myrtle limbs, squared off overlays on the belly side at the limb bolts, no red 52#@29. I draw 30" so it will be about 55lb at my draw.
Are you all using the factory string? It says FF. I don't know if that is the actual string type or some other high performance type. I'm planning on using the gold tip 55/75 that I have for my other bows.

Got my PCHX on Wednesday . Zirrcote riser and Black Limba limbs. Beautiful and one of the best shooting bows I have ever shot. Shooting Widows since 1994. Can't figure out how to post pics anymore but could email a pic to someone who could. Love them Widows. Wait time was a little longer because Toby found a small flaw in one limb and made a new set. Well worth the wait though.
I shoot the D97 string that comes with all my Widows. Gets the job done just fine.
I don't use the factory strings. They are good strings I just prefer others.
Too Long!
2 days ordered one of there in stock PSA's.
I ordered mine on Jan. 2nd and called Toby today and he said it will ship on the Feb. 18th. Can't wait.
It depends on several factors. How busy they are, if they hit weight or not, and if everything goes right in the paint room. Earliest was 3 weeks, but Roger knew I had a BIG hunt coming up, and longest was 6 weeks. They tell you 8 weeks to give themselves some breathing room if things don't go to their satisfaction. I used to call them at the 4 week mark to see where mine was in production. They didn't mind telling me at all. Very good folks to deal with. I've bought 6 of them so far.
Pics, BlueRidge, Pics!!!! (Some of us are trying to live vicariously here . . .)

Can't seem to figure out photo bucket anymore .i will be glad to email. Send me your address
Tedd just sent you an email
Thanks for the pics. That bow looks sharp. I was never sure if I liked the way a Black Widow looked...until I saw a PCH with no red in the riser.

I know the feeling I am 4 weeks into the wait on my Kbx Roger told me 7 weeks when I ordered. Hopefully it will be soon.
Newbie question: what charistics are Blackwidow bows known for (smooth, quick, lack of shock, etc) and why do people buy them?
Thanks in advance.
I ordered my first on December 31, 2003. The bow arrived on Saturday, February 20, 2004.
How do I remember? I was on my way to a root canal that last day of December in Lexington, KY. My wife was driving and I ordered the bow from the passenger seat. The bow arrived on my 50th birthday by complete surprise! I still remember the truck pulling up in front of the house.
Reckon that was about 10 weeks. Mine was a PSAIII.
I really like the Widow FF strings. I use them on several bows. I sold or traded that PSAIII a few months ago after all these years. I wasn't shooting it. Now I wonder, since I'm on an anti-hand-shock kick (pun intended), whether or not that bow had less than other wooden riser recurves.
I still have a PAX which is my favorite (1-piece) looking of all the Widows.
Ordered a PL on 2/7-- problem is, when you order a bow from the Widow Works, you've already waited a while, then you have to wait again!
Why buy a Widow?... They are the Harley-Davidson of traditional bows. Widow shooters wear black t-shirts too!
