Hunted two days last week and yesterday and thought I would share a couple pics from South Ga. public land. Chris and I last week walked 22 miles in two days.No joke. got on pigs a couple of time but got no shots. Yesterday I walked maybe two miles and got on pigs 4 times under 15 yards . Got two shots and was deflected by vines and such both times. The pigs were in planted pines in the edge of a huge swamp and it was thick. I felt good with the shots as they were controlled but tight in thick spots you gotta shoot through some tight stuff. I honestly believe it was so tight a smaller broadhead would have gotton through....did I just find a downside to a Simmons???lol.
Here is a few pics hope you enjoy. Just so you`ll get an Idea how Southern public land hunting goes... A few years ago I had pork under ten yards 11 times and did not get a shot. A few weeks later I killed three in one day and two the next week. You just gotta get after`m.RC

We were following a trail and came across this fella.
There were a lot of droppings under this tree. I think he was roosted and died of old age from the roost. He had no injury the best I could tell...

We went by a spot about 1.5 miles in the swamp where Chris killed a doe a couple of years ago. Broadhead is still in the tree after the pass through on the Nanny. Recon a treeshark will penetrate??

I really love the South, where winters are sweet!

Those look just like the woods I grew up hunting in S.C. That is one big spider web. I love that spanish moss hanging from the trees. I miss the south so much!
-
Pretty country, thanks for taking us along. Something about that spanish moss makes me crazy, in a good way.
-
Good stuff Robert. Thanks for sharing!

-
Realy cool looking place you have there.

I was just down there in your neck of the woods 2 weeks ago RC. I stomped around that beautiful landscape myself looking for some hogs. The one thing that amazes me every time I'm down there are those old cypress stumps, HUGE! I know the feeling about the thick stuff too. I am really starting to love hunting in Georgia. Thanks for the pics.
-
Good one on the "bath" comment. That's taking the "understanding your quarry" to a new level!
That's great looking country, like Ryan says, pretty foreign to us Northern boys.
Thanks for the update.
-
Great pictures as always thanks for letting us tag along.
Too much hard water (ice) here to get the Kayak out yet, makes me wish for spring.
-
Great looking woods RC. There's nothing like being out in beautiful woods! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

This time of year I'm very envious of those of you that live in the south and get to hunt in "shirt sleeve" weather.
