Title: Kmag stacking
Post by: Deeter on February 03, 2013, 01:08:00 PM
Ok so I think I under stand what stacking is but could someone tell me what "stacking" is just to clearify.  Also on a bow like the Kodiak Magnum at 50# what would draw length would it start stacking?  Thank you and have a great day.

I set one up for a buddy last year and it felt like once it got past 28" it was stacking pretty quickly but the finger pinch was more of an issue at that draw for me. That was just my experience.  Nice compact shooting bow though.

Deeter,

To paraphrase the Traditional Bowyers Bible vol 1; stacking occurs as the string angle approaches 90 degrees to the limbtips at full draw. One  loses the leverage advantage and needs brute force to continue. Past 90 you will eventually pull the string off the limb(s).

Differing bows of same lengths will draw more inches or less based on limb parameters.

There is more to it but that's an overview. Likewise different same length bows pinch more or less based on limb design.

Most bows pull about 3 lbs an inch. When a bow stacks it jumps from 3 lbs. an inch to 5 or 6 lbs. an inch.

I shot my first deer with one. Mine started stacking at about 26". That and the hand shock is why I let her go.
