I was headed to Solana On a Tuesday, and since UPS lost my cooler, I was shucking and jiving to get more supplies together that weekend and did make a post on an instinctive shooting thread in the Shooters forum....
I answered the question asked, and then I got an email thanking me and a statement of 'If you are ever in Austin let me know and we'll get a bite together'
I emailed back....'I'll be in Austin on Tuesday'.
Needless to say, that was a really cool coincidence....So, via TradGang, Rob and I got to meet Matthew on Sunday night after the hunt for dinner.
Matthew is a nice young man, husband and father...and one I'd like to share a hunting camp with sometime....
Its amazing at what all this web site does in bringing like minded people together. Its the one main benefit I never let leave my perspective. In the grand scheme of things, TradGang has brought so many folk together....friendships, shoots, hunts, and campfires.
Lots of memories and future anticipations would have been left on the table if not....
Its the main reason I stay focused no matter the challenge.
Then there's the St Judes Children we have helped....so many have donated and bid....for kids we will never see....
Sorry for the long wind this AM...just trying to stay positive with all the negative the world is throwing out at the moment.
Nice meeting you Matthew.... :campfire:
I think you just post what many of us feel. If it were not for TG there would be several guys I hunt with that I would have never met.
It does us all good to stay positive.
Great Post Terry.
God Bless,
Nathan
It's great to meet other TradGangers, kinda like having a whole bunch of brothers!
Thanks for proving my point guys....
I would not have meet either of you on the same trip if not... :campfire:
For me thats been the greatest value of TG> :campfire:
Well said, T!!!
The friendships are what makes this place what it is......even the ones that are only thru cyberspace. I feel like I know many on here whom I have never seen face to face.
Bisch
I agree with what Bisch said. You do feel like you know some of the people here just by seeing their avatar, you already sort of know how their post will read.
I have friendships with people I have never met (maybe someday). I also have met several people in person that I would never had the pleasure of knowing without Trad Gang.
Thanks again for this site... :notworthy:
I saw a post from Bob Moran in Kentucky about him visiting my home town and looking for a 3D range last summer. We met up at the range and had a very pleasant afternoon shooting arrows and chatting in general.
In my opinion, it's just a bonus benefit of being a Tradgang member. :campfire:
And if meeting great people is not enough (and it is for sure) I feel like I can hunt anywhere in the world that I want to go and if not hunting with a Trad Ganger I've got a resource for local information at my finger tips.
This is all something I need to get more involved in. I would love to meet a few (or a lot) just to share a campfire or shoot some arrows. Everything I know I have learned from reading on this sight.
So a thank you is in order and hope to make a few more friends.
I still believe there much more good in the world than evil. The things that happen here on a regular basis prove it.
I've gotten to know some great folks through this site. Thank You for it!
The friends I have met on tradgang are the most valuable aspect of the site. I could count the people who have touched my life.
Funny, I posted a similar thread last night. :biglaugh: I've made a lot of great people on this site, and have had awesome opertunaties that would have otherwise passed me by. I feel pretty lucky to be a part of it.
I have made numerous friends from afar on this site. I truly believe that as a TG member you open yourself up to wisdom and insights that are not available elsewhere. When I need help related to traditional archery this is the first place I look. Thanks to Terry, Rob and all who work hard to make this site the #1 traditional archery site on the net.
Not long after I posted this several of our friends lost their houses and their businesses .......we dodged a bullet this morning.
So, count your blessings also.
:campfire:
heck of a lot nasty weather your way stay safe.
The friendships formed and the knowledge gained on this site are priceless.
Well said, Terry. I agree 100%. You all have done a wonderful job here.
Thank you!
As I responded on Sean's post the people on here are fantstic and the fact that they are all archers just adds icing to the cake .I would like to thank everyone involved and especially Terry and Rob for all they have done and continue to do to keep this site what it is . Fred
Met some of my Now best friends off this site. Sure I will meet more in the future.
Who would have thunk it, Thanks to all that keep it rolling.
:archer:
Trad Gang has provided me with an outlet with like minded people,Not just archery but values for living. This site with it's different forums have enabled me to talk to people, pray for those that need it,and contribute in a positive way, thats all I ever wanted.
Great post Terry. Glad you dodged the storms I'm over near Athens they had died way down before they got here.
For me, it got me going again and reignited the passion and countless numbers of new true friends. Thanks Terry.
This site really is different..the quality of people is the biggest surprise for me since I switched to trad some years back. Good folks hanging with good folks!!
Maybe the main reason I keep going to Solana is because I feel a great kinship with the folks I've met there. I was telling someone the other day that the traditional archers that I've associated with are the finest group of people I have been fortunate enough to meet.
Yeah...and I wish more folks would get into these group hunts.....they don't know what they are missing!!!
I gotta tell ya, Bear Quest is an UNBELEIVABLE hunt!! I can only imagine what the other Tradgang hunts are like. You're right Terry, they dont!!
