I think I had an Al Roker moment at 20"
The 1" thick arrow was a treat in itself. Bow and arrow supplied by Ace. One huge "Hex Head" on the business end.

Here is Sticksnstones (Thom) getting it to 31 1/2" his normal full draw... (funny part is I acted like the camera wasn't ready for about 5 seconds after the pic. We all stood behind him chuckling)

Here is my oldest son Nick. He has a recent problem with dropping his bow arm.

A nice bow for tree-stands....
It could BE the tree stand!!!
Thom
Is that the bow Gary Davis built at the Tenn Classic last year?
Well if you can't shoot it, you could just use it as a club. :biglaugh:
I'm sure you can kill an Elephant with it. :biglaugh:
JL :archer2:
That's too Funny! Got a pic of the head Mike? My neck and back hurts just thinking of drawing that weight!!!
I think my shoulders just fell off..LOL

or a pole vault
It's one of those that's best held by the feet and drawn and shot with both hands :archer: :biglaugh:
I have some fence posts if you need some extra arrows.
Wish I could have shot that one ! thought I shot every bow at k-zoo, should just be able to scare a deer to death with it, any hand shock ??
The bow was signed by Gary Davis, I'm not sure when/where it was made. Many of us thought it was some sort of non-working marketing thing until we saw it strung. String was 20 strands of dacron, I talked to Matt Wirwicki about it a bit later in the day.
Yes drawing that bow does make you want to try it out on elephants and engine blocks... A lot.
Thom
I just got home Matt, and noticed your post. No, I thought they were a pic or two with us drawing it, but I guess not. Head was at least 1/2 pound and probably a 4 foot arrow.
Just you Thom. I looked at it and thought "No, uh uh. Not today!" I tried drawing a Shrew last year that was way over my head. Couldn't draw a bow for three days after that.
Good grief! My shoulder hurts just looking at the pics of you guys pulling on that string!
Very funny, Mike. I bet drawing any other bow afterwards seemed rather simple.
Mike, I'm not kidding anyone. There is NO WAY this boy was going to try getting that bow all the way back. My hat is off to Thom and Ken for getting it done. It was an honor just to say I tried.
The bow as well as the rest of the show was very cool. Always great seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Here at the kids shooting area they broke close to 600 balloons and only about 6 arrows. Thanks to all of the people that stopped by the Michigan longbow association to say hi and particularly to all those that helped putting smiles on the kids faces.
Pat B, That is the bow Gary made. Matt Wirwicki and Al helped finish it at our Marshall primitive shoot over Memorial weekend last spring. I had to help string it a few times.
Bob Mayo from Ace Broadheads has toted that giant arrow around for years and Gary always asked to see the bow that could shoot it. So he decided to make the bow he's own self I guess.
Nice job to Thom takeing it to anchor. You to Ken.

No problem Mike. Wonder what the FOC is on that arrow. Lol! Glad you all had a great time and got home safe! Wish I was there.
We had an absolute blast this year. Just beat the storm home, now to see how much snow we are going to get dumped on us.

Did it involve a operating a pickup truck with a winch? :scared:
I can't lie, that made my day and now I want a Paul Bunyan bow!
Thom
Two Tracks, I watched them split out the stave and start the bow. Gary has always got something up his sleeve.
You guys really know how to live.Good stuff!
Does that thing shoot arrows or spears.
Now that is a proper English Warbow!!! One of these days i will get to shoot one!!!
Chuck @ Two Tracks " I had to help string it a few times".
OK Chuck, Just how many guys does it take to get it strung?
Pat, That Gary does always have something up his sleeve. I call him the spoon, cuz he is always stirring something up. What a piece of osage that is eh? about as clean as you can find.
Tom, My Grandpa Al from Canada would grab the handle area and do the heavy lifting(he is kinda short but very stout),A custome made stringer was used. Matt W would run one end of the string and I would do the other. Maybe one or two extra guys tossed in there for safe measure. The length of the bow is really the killer or that 120#'s would be no problem to push pull. :saywhat:
So to answer you question, 3(or 5).
Thanks for the inside scoop! I was really wondering if I could get that strung by myself if I needed too. Good times!
Thom
That right there is funny.
Thom, You and me are pretty long in the wing span but that bow is just a wee bit longer I reckon.

That looks like the one I shoot, you should see my quiver(a navy sea bag).
That is a cool bow,did they punch the numbers into Stew's Calculator...LOL
