Anybody have any pictures of arrows that have the
traditional cut feathers on them?Just curios how they would look on some woodies.
I'll get you some pics. They do look cool but are noisy do to the tail of the feather.
This the PnY/raptor cut. Very similar to the traditional except the front of the fletch slopes down like a shield or parabolic on the traditional.

I made some arrows up some years back with that feather. I still have that chopper somewhere. I really like the look of the feathers but they are noisy. Another mistake I made was not moving the fear ther down the shaft to compensate for the longer tail. The tail end got caught up in my hand and very shortly the feathers looked ragged in that area.
Where can you buy the traditional cut, would like to try them, not wanting to buy a chopper.
Thanks Sam

I buy the 5 1/2" shield cut feathers and then cut 1/2" from the rear end of the spine. gives the look, and easy to do.
goose feathers on a birch dowel shaft, scissor cut, sawed nock, sinew binding ...

Hey Rob, I know your a busy sort, but could you show a condensed version of how you did the goose fletch above for us? Like, do you make a teplate for the raw feather? What kind of scissors do ya use? That sorta thing. I know I sure would appreciate it. Thanks in advance either way, Mike.
Anybody use this cut for a hunting arrow??
I did for several years, the whistling was the last thing quite a few animals heard.
I have killed a few deer with this cut of feather and never noticed any noise. As said above they are easy to make if you don't have a chopper. Nip off some of the feather at the nock end.
