We are all aware of the addictive nature of trad. archery, and for most ( not all) the love of buying, swapping and trading trad. bows, which brought this question to mind.,,,,,How many have you got on the rack? :campfire:
As we speak only 4..
Two Hatfields that will never leave the burn and two longbows ,a Samick and a Harrison.
Something tells me this is going to be a big thread..
Nine
9. I had almost 50 at one time. I only shoot 2 of the 9 most of the time.
11 right now.....Plotting for more!!!!
4 and #5 due next week.
Ive owned around 100 in my life but never more than 8 or so at once. That was many years ago. At present I have 3 but soon to be 4 and possibly 5. lol
7
Three I shoot / hunt regularly
One is my wife's
One is an old recurve that is mainly for show
One old self bow my Dad gave me (wall hanger show piece)
One fishing bow
One LH...long story
I've got six right now and two on order.
Something over 200 now, but that's less than half what it once was. I think the addiction is well under control...don't you?
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 80. All Bears. I would like to get another Mohawk longbow again.Have a chance to get on the Vintage Works list as my friend might back out.
35 hanging in the shop on racks, but I'm not hooked and I don't have a problem. I almost did, but I've got it under control now. There is another to be delivered tomorrow though. I can quit at anytime.Really!
Bows I consider mine that shoot? 5
Bows for family, friends, etc to shoot? 6 but working on more.
11 shooters plus one ancient self-wood display.
Down to 4 right now, saving my pocket change, be back up to 5 in the Spring
Seven here.
14 longbows and 18 recurves right now. I only shoot the longbows, the recurves are for kids and company except for the bowfishing bows
Currently at 26 right now but that is a fluctuating number that can go up or down.
Two—One longbow and one recurve. There are, however, many, many more in my dreams.
18-25 depending the time of year and my budget....lol! 3 of them are now my wife's.....
Five
I've had many bows but usually have 4-6 at any given time. I usually sell one before I buy another.
12.
I made 9 of them, one was my first trad bow that was a college graduation gift from my Dad, and two others that I acquired through the Trad Gang Bow Swap.
15, I try to shoot them all every once in a while and if I just don't like one after a while, I get rid of it.(And replace it with one or two more)
I have 2. I had 6 at one time, but I don't like having stuff sitting around not getting used. Ill buy 1 or two here and there to try, and then I sell them off again.
Currently, two. But I haven't been in the game long. As soon as I can determine my six month old's dominate eye, I plan to add a bunch more!
Five at the moment.
I have 3 to me, 2 to my daughter... I will get rid of 2 of mine when I get my other Hill style bow in about 2-3 years....
4
One... but I'm not too proud to accept donations :-)
Less than Ksbowman. LOL Honestly around 25.
I only bought one complete bow last week. But I have 2 risers coming from Lancaster.
bretto
1, and trying hard to resist getting anymore.
I am waiting for Bel007 to respond :)
1 and i intend to keep it that way.
13 Recurves and one R/D Longbow
1. Sarrels Superstition.
1 (one)
1 grizzly bear...in the market for more
im down to 6
I have one only
around 60, bought 4 last week at the gun show, but gave 3 to a co-worker for his family this week.
I have two ( 3 if you include the one being built) my boy has two also
4 that i take turns hunting with all the time. 2 that i take out once in a while. and 8 or nine that are just keep sakes. That makes like 14. Three are tack drivers.
Probably 80 old Bear bows sometimes called a 'collection' and 4 modern hunting bows that see regular use.
Just three
20 in the house now. Two are the grandson's and 2 are the gf's. I have 4 ILF risers and 5 sets of limbs so that'll make 20 different combinbinations
6 recurves & 2 longbows + 2 more longbows being built. That's it...I promise!!!
1 longbow 3 recurves
200 give or take.Like oldbohntr, half of what I have owned in the last three years so I'm on my way to recovery.
7...1 recurve and 6 longbows
Back down to an even 10. One bow for each finger, makes it easy to do inventory.
40 something......getting too old to shoot some of the higher poundage bows. I need to get rid of a bunch, just haven't done it yet.
Not sure  :clapper:
21 at the moment. I need to thin the herd a bit. I made a selfbow and a Hill style bow this month with help from the guys on the Bowyers Bench and now have that sickness.
116 combination of recurves and longbows.
About 12, stopped wanting to count them. I have enough to last my lifetime, I'll never need another. But I do think I will start making self bows.
21 right now. Theyare made up of:
- 17 finished selfbows. 6 in process.
- 1 bamboo backed osage. 1 in process.
- 1 glass recurve.
- 2 glass longbows.
Except for the St. Jude auction, I have only paid cash for 2 trad bows for myself in my life. Both were $10 garage sale bows. I did splurge for a $20 Craigslist bow for my brother :)
I'm an addict, but a cheap one!
24.
One is at the door shipping today. Another I am tempted to trade at a great trade offer.
Have 3 out on loan and honestly do not intend to see them again.
3 cannot be shot anymore and should be fire wood.
I have 4 longbows that all have their place
I have 7 recurves that have their their place on my rack (one for bowfishing 2 are my Wife's)
the rest are or will be for sale.
One now, second on the way. Plan on having a baseball team or 2 worth by the time I retire. I will just tell the wife it is an investment? That will work!
I currently have 10 bows on the rack. One is for my daughter and one is for the wife. Out of the 10 bows two are recurves the rest are longbows.
I have owned well over 200, I have 3 Schafer Silvertips, 1 Brackenbury Quest, 1 Cari-Bow Slynx longbow, and 1 Bear Type 1 A riser takedown on the rack at the moment with 1 more Silvertip on order and 1 Brackenbury Peerless on order, that is it.
On my rack...
9- American semi-longbows
1- r/d longbow (going to sell it)
1- 1970 Browning recurve
1- kid's bow
1- Martin recurve set up for bowfishing
1- old wall hanger
I have one bow that I shoot, my Martin Hunter, and then an old Pearson that I'm not sure is in shooting condition anymore, and one of those fibreglass youth bows, so technically 3...do the last two count?
I have 6 Hills and 2 reflex-deflex longbows.Might have room for another.............
Have had 34 to date but right now ony 4 with 2 more ready in the next month or so .
Currently 2 recurves, 1 longbow on order. Bought and sold probably 50 in the last 5 years but always try to limit myself to 3-4 bows on the rack.
When I first got into trad archery and joined this group of amazing people, one thing I did not understand was the number of bows most tradgangers have/had. I mean, you can only shoot one at a time and pick one, learn to shoot it, stick with it. Well, like I said that was in the beginning. To answer you question, I now own 4 with hopefully many more to come.
I hear I forget
I see I remember
I do I understand
8 good ones, only need two more.
I'm down to 7 right now .
Silvertip
Pronghorn
Stalker Static
BBO
3 selfbows that I built.
"18-25 depending the time of year and my budget....lol! 3 of them are now my wife's....."
Ron W, I hadn't thought of that angle!
Over the years probably 50 longbows and recurves.. bought, sold and traded in my quest to find want I liked and shot best. I'm not a collector or saver so if it's not used it goes! I'm very happy with my 2 Bigjim Buffalo t/d's, a 60" and a 62" both around 50#@28"
I have only one that I shoot seriously.
I have 11 on my rack presently, but am going to thin the herd a bit. I have one on order from Kirk and will get another from Sixby. Will keep the Habu, a Martin Hunter my wife gave me, the Eagle Wings, the Sasquatch, and Dye recurves. A Border, a Lone Wolf, a Widow, and a Howatt Hunter will be going on the block soon.
Up to 3 at the most and never without my Assenheimer. Newly acquired a used Dorado on classifieds that shoots like a dream.
More than I need, less than I want.
I have about 17 right now, all but one I built myself. Probably have a few more before I am done. Bob
17
Recently sold three.
Three years ago I had two.
21 but will thin the herd this spring
10.......think thats about the right number for me....I manage to shoot most of them somewhat frequently...I shoot everyday at lunchtime for 45 min....5 days a week....
Pleading the Fifth!!
Look at my signature, 1 year into traditional archery and I have 3.
Presently I have three glass backed bows that I have purchased and 10 all wood bows that I have made.
Like my wife when our daughter asked if she had an addiction to buying shoes, she said "no, I really only wear a few different pairs" I have a few but only shoot two of them much anymore.
I have seven, one was my dad's, one was my first real bow(it is about 50 years old) an original Bear SuperMag, and a nice recurve, and 3 very nice longbows. I have pretty much decided that is going to be it for me. I might let the nice recurve and/or one of the longbows go, but it would only be because I have never had a take down bow and would like to try a very specific brand of bow in that design.
Twenty, with one more on the way and another one ordered, but hey, I do have 2 listed for sale in the classifieds so I am trying.
13 Vintage Bears from 1954-1962 (all shooters)
2 Bighorns
3 Tall Tines
1 Schafer
1 Howatt
Trap
10 at last count. All longbows and all shooters.
4 at this moment, but would like to get down to 3 if I could find a good 2 piece takedown.
I have three traditional bows, the wife and kids have 5 total, I am adding one more and then most likely getting rid of one. I only need two
Just two for now..Liberty Edge longbow
and Wes Wallace Mentor recurve.
Four. That is about all I would want because I can't shoot them regularly as it is!
I confess - 9 and 1 on the way. But what the hey, there are worse addictions. At least that's what I keep telling my wife!
I have 11 right now, but always looking o increase the herd.
Too many to count got a Mohawk on the way!
1
Just 3 for me.
I counted 44 on my rack the other night, which probably 2/3rds are classics or vintage. After reading a few of these posts, 44 isnt excessive at all! :biglaugh: :archer2:
4 Recurves,2 longbows,5 selfbows, and quite a few unfinished selfbows= 11.I hate uneven #s.I better go back to classifieds and drool.
I have 50 longbows and recurves. I currently shoot one of three different longbows depending how I feel.
17 for me!
I have 6 in my rotation and 30 something in a holding pattern. :archer:
...2 for me... 1 for each of my 2 nieces...
7 (4 recurves - 3 longbows)
1 longbow on order
Bernie Bjorklund
NC Iowa/SW Wisconsin
Half a dozen Hill's, two JD Berry's, two Mohawks, a couple of Northern Mists, and a couple of Whippensticks.. They're all great bows..
Have one Morrison recurve left - I'm a longbow guy for the last several years.. Don't think I'll ever go back.
2 curves
7 now and 2 new ones ordered,Had a hard time leaving Kazoo empty handed :bigsmyl:
At this time 32 but always looking for more. Most are vintage bears that only get shot once a year. At this time in rotation are a bighorn custom recurve and a rer Xl longbow.
4 and plotting on 5 - gotta give myself some room to work up.
4 griffins an one self bow
4, angling for a 5th
4 that I actually shoot 1 that sits in the closet
would like to sell some and really only stick to one bow though
A few years back I figured out everything I liked and disliked in a bow and have sold all that don't posses those qualities.
I have 4 hanging in the bow room. My goal each year is to take a deer with each of them.
I have 6...3 I hunt with 1 was my dads first bow and two were given to me by a family friend that can no longer shoot them
down to six custom bows ( five of Big Jims and a nice 3pc I got in a bow swap built by Mike Tenley/Brushwolf ) Fourteen selfbows, mine and ones built for me in swaps with another 8 selfbows in process and a new Thunderchild coming from Jim....
I think I like bows :bigsmyl:
:campfire:
4 now but have had 12 at one time
Five total in the household... one is my wife's, one is my first bow (old recurve with a twisted limb) that I keep as my only "backup", another old Pearson we never shoot, given to us,
my daughter's Saxon from her childhood, long outgrown, soon to be in the classifieds. Only one bow which is mine and I actually shoot - a Selway Lil Mag.
I have eight thinking of another
100 give or take,33 custom and the rest vintage.
5 - Old Indian Long Bow; Old Ben Pearson Colt; PSE Blackhawk; Herway Youth Bow; TallTines
1. a little 30# all fiberglass bow that was my first from about 1967
2. a Pearson recurve similar to my first that I bought on an auction site for nostalgia's sake
3. a bow from the bow swap
4-? all wood bows that I have made maybe 3 or so
Waiting for the next addition either made by me or from the current swap here on TG
3 takedown longbows, 2 English longbows, 1 warbow, 2 Hill style bows.
Hey Moleman, hope you're doing well! I have one riser with 3 sets of limbs: 40#, 50#, 60#. Is that 1 bow? And I'm itching for a new bow, so my answer is.........2 bows! haha
I currently own 6 recurves, 3 longbows and 2 compounds....Dave
Seven at this point. They come and go, except for the 2 Morrisons which are what I mostly shoot and which aren't going anywhere. It's a fluid process: buy/trade for a bow, shoot it awhile, keep it or buy/trade for a different one.
Hi, my name is Dave and I'm a bowaholic. Well, I'm not as bad as some ;) I only have 8 (2 aren't shooters), and 1 on the way.
I currently have 19. 12 longbows and 7 recurves. I need to learn to part with a few!
Well...
Five longbows, Five recurves...just ordered a Ferguson Z-bow ... need to have one day a BW longbow ... you just love them, dont you :D
With the popularity of ILF the question becomes cloudy. So if I marry the risers and limbs up with the other old classics I come up with 14 of my own and 4 grandkids/youth bows.
I keep bows, arrows, and gloves on hand in lower weights not only for my own grandchildren but to give anyone who asks an opportunity to experience the joy of archery. It doesn't cost much and I'd recommend we all do this. Kind of like passing the torch.
dozen glass bows and about the same in non glass.....sad I can only shoot one at a time!
1-29-2013
Just added one I've been looking for - for a while
Pearson Mercury hunter 60" 55@28 - love it!
><>>
Glenn
6 right now, but ordering another one this week.
Five here.
Boy, I like to be selling about 4 of them
I have 2. One I use with a bow quiver, the other without.
Two Howatt Hunters
One bear Kmag
One York
One Browning
One hickory self bow
Six for now!
I only have 5 right now. Could easily turn that into 7 if I just had the money.
Seven including the fiberglass Black Bear that I've had since I was 14.....dang, that was 50 years ago.
Great northern fireball 53@28 Big Jim thunder child 56@28 These two I've got in the past 90 days. Gn was my first trad bow. Took a turkey with it an was hooked. The t child was a product of the wheelie bow being sold. More to come if my I can just get the wife to understand!!
1 longgbow 3 recurves and 1 recurve on the way.
I am way below average. Trying to think of a way to explain this to the wife.
John
19, 9 of them are Bears.
currently 14 bows, but have had up to 25 at one time, have owned over 100++ in my 48 years of trad shooting. At 63 yrs old I may have to think about getting down to 2 or 3 bows on hand.
50+
Wow...can't believe some of the numbers put up here!!!!
4 right now - may trim the herd to 3 soon to raise funds for another project.
I've got 7 but am only using 2. The others are just hanging around...waiting. ;)
Three now. Don't really want more than that, though I wouldn't mind tuning the combination a bit!
5 hanging as I write, owned as many as 15 custom bows at one time. About 30 custom or so lifetime. Many more garage sale/bargain recurves etc. I really love shooting and owning bows...a nice clean "inexpensive" hobby.
Kris
I have too many hobbies so I only have 3 but all are quality customs. My problem is if it shoots a projectile I like it so I spend my mad money on a little bit of everything.
Currently 1, at the most 2 at the same time.
Only two------too many. A high off 14 and down to 8 now. MIKE
Only Two-----period. 3rd is being made now. Per my wishlist, I'd like to be at 4.
Eight..it's a bad sign I had to go and count.
2, both of which I'm going to sell.
Still looking for "The One" or three actually.. maybe four.
Going to the shorter bow, 2 recurves for hunting, 1 Grayling Bear short recurve and MAYBE a longbow.
Sometimes feels like hell trying to decide, but I soon get over that...
Currently 4 in total (3 recurves and 1 longbow), though that's probably going to change a lot (giving one of my recurves to a friend this weekend as I got him hooked on trad shooting recently and I hate to see my old hunting bow just collecting dust, it deserves to be in the woods) as I have plans to sell some and maybe acquire a custom recurve later this year, cutting my total down to 1 or 2 at the most by years end.
Currently 4 but that number is subject to change at any given moment.....
JL
2 Vintage York Thunderbolt
3 hickory selfbows 54" recurve, 62" flatbow, 72" ELB
3 Eastern Red Cedar sinewed bows, 58", 62", 64"
1 Hickory backed maple
1 hickory backed Cumaru
5 Red Oak
5-6 in progress
Lastly the one I'm forbidden to speak of on Tradgang
Think that makes about 20
I think the current count is 22, not counting 3 little fiberglass youth bows that will go to my grandson when he gets big enough to shoot. The latest is an osage self bow by Vinson Miner that I bought at the Alafia rendezvous in Florida last week. I am hoping to get some cane arrows I made to shoot off it.
My 5 Hills, my Kolomi (Lynn Harrelson), and my Deathwish get most of the work, though.
I refuse to answer this question on the grounds that it may incriminate me.
3 for me right now.
Only one. It does everything I need. I do wish it were a 2-piece so it would fit in my single cab truck better but I won't be giving up a great shooting 1-piece for that convenience unless I find a 2-piece that shoots as good or better in my hands.
One, I would like to grow that number. I just can not figure out how to shoot more than one at a time.
14 homemade bows, 3 bows other guys made.. I need to have a yard sale..
i have a total of three. one recurve and two long bows that i made.
I have been staying about 15...actually selling some
Just one at a time :)
Counting selfbows..............8
I have another 6 that are either being built or are on a build list somewhere.
21 and 2 ordered
5, and three more on order. Yipes! I need to sell some.
10 Keepers and 15 for sale/trade. Two coming in for evaluation.
Wow! I need to start shopping. I only have 2. My wife and I are due for an argument anyway! :knothead:
1.5 I have an ACS long bow and a set of Morrison's Max 1 limbs. Patiently waiting a 17 inch Phoenix riser.
One More. oops :banghead:
I have 7, I would like 1 more. This one would be one that I make with my own hands. I'm afraid to start as I believe it could open up pandora's box on a new journey which would lead me to much more than I would bargain for. 1 more, is that possible?
2 Bears
1 Hoyt TD
1 Samick
1 JD Berry
1 Predator TD
1 Shrew
3 Selfbows self made
Sorta want to try a Kanati or a Java Man or both!
Uhhh....one more ordered today :archer2:
10 & #11 in another 4 weeks or so.
Counted them the other day for the first time before going to Kazoo. 32....but I sold one!! That is good aye?? Am I cured?? LOL
Had had too many to remember but didn't keep them if I found something else to try. Funny thing I've come full circle. Started with a DAS and 30 or so bows later back to the DAS and since it works best for me have settled there. I do presently have 3, will keep at least 2.
12 that I shoot another dozen for others to try out . Good thing I cut back years ago !!
six. Two of which I shoot regularly. I think I going to order a new on Monday...all because of this thread. Been four years, though.
Six. Five are mine one is my little girls.
1-1pc Acadian Woods Tree Stick
2-3pc Acadian Woods Tree Stick
3-Dryad Epic Longbow
4-Bear Green Grizzly Recurve
5-Bear Wizard for my boys
Contemplating the addition of a Maddog Pup Recurve and a Kaliska in the future.
2- Bears - Kodiak Magnum & Grizzly
2- Browning - Nomad
1- Big Jim - Thunderchild
2- Black Widows - PSA X & PL V
2- Gene Sanders - Mantis II & Mantis Hunter T/D
2- Lee Hoots - l'il Hoots - 54# & 52#
I have 6 now. Would like to buy a longbow, but not for a few months due to other hobbies that need equiptment.
Well considering I have made the switch from the compounds only about a month ago, I have 2 right now and a new one soon to be deliverd.
8- Bears
2- Morrisons
1- Cold Mountain
1- Treadway
1- Black Widow
1- Selfbow
1-Hoyt
----------
15 if I didn't miss any
4 at the moment, I planning to sell one of those and there are 2 new bows I definitely want... It's only a matter of money, otherwise I would buy a new every other day :D

3 titans 2 gen ones 1 Titan III
1 Sky 15" tdx
1 VPA 13"
hmm I have two for sale
titan III and the 15" sky TDX
Maybe 10-12. Most are selfbows.
I once got down to one tradbow. The first day I made it down to one, I said in a thread I was changing my screen name to OneBow2Strings. I had found the one bow for me. It was a Harrison El Lobo. I mentioned that in the thread and Leo Merkert volunteered to have Jack Harrison make me a new HSS. I wound up having a collection of 18 Harrisons, a bunch of Hill longbows, a bunch of Schulz longbows and a bunch of vintage Bear bows.
My new realistic goal is to keep 2 of my Harrisons, 2 or 3 '59 Bear Kodiaks, 2 Northern Mist longbows (and I intend to buy another two piece) and a Tonkin longbow made for me by Ron Maulding. Everything else is going. Therefore I hope 9 or less.
I sure would like to be able to change my name to OneBow2Strings, but I doubt that can ever happen again.
Gil
I have 19, but hope to learn how to sell and sell off all my recurves.
Then I would be down to the following longbows:
9 Morrison longbows (2 ILF and 7 Shawnee's)
1 Eaglewing
1 Centaur double carbon
All I have to do is learn how to list and attach photos!
Only1 a Dwyer dauntless.
I'm in for six***
I currently have 11, but I may have forgot some!
My wife says to many (I'm always looking for the next one!) 8 bows at home(plus 2 on loan to my son)

Its funny,. I have come back to thins thread after 1 year and have half the amount of bows I had one year ago. I am not sure if that is considered progress or not???
One...although I would like to have another as a backup.
3 now down from 7
2 hybrid longbows now and one more on order.
All Dale Dyes last time I counted it was 14 but I think my son took a couple back to Nebraska

16. unfinished hickory selfbow
*I typically pick one bow every season to hunt with...last year was Mohawk...this year is Primal Styk and Tillamook Spirit. The only Browning I would hunt with is my 70 Explorer I as it is the ugly duckling of the bunch. LOL
Only 2 at the moment, but that won't last the year.
3 and 1 on the way in April.
More than 1 and less than 10, but it is constantly changing. Maybe if I separated them more often.
Black Widow PSAIII, Kititinny Tank Killer Longbow, 1997 Jim Johnson Legend Longbow, and a Wes Wallace Royal Longbow=4 :archer: :archer2: I have a Wes Wallace Grey Stealth on order.
Six as of now
Near 40. time to thin done some.
I have around 25 or so on hand and have had around 50+ over the years.I do enjoy trading them and shooting different bows. But some of my bows are keepers.
Last count 14. Hatfield, Jeffrey's, several Kodiak hunters, dual bear grizzly, white bison, Martin, Poison wood long bow , Pearson, browning. Need a new one. :)
Make that 17. Two kids bows fiberglass and hickory from when I was a kid and a dual shelf fiber glass bow my Dad had, a Paul Bunyan dual shelf.
I have two - my starter bow and my hunting bow!
6-10, at any given time!
Bisch
18, and one on order.
I personally own 1 Glass bow and Innature viper (my first trad bow)
3 osage 2 of them came out of the bow swap here and one out of PA trade
and 1 BBO again from the swap here in the bench. Oh and I am signed up again this year so who knows what will come.
15 at the moment. I've had more and I've had less. But I have 15 spots on my bow racks and they tend to stay filled. I've thought about building some more bow racks but then I'd be obligated to spend the cash to fill them. I'm at a comfortable number at the moment.
5 total....
1- Darton child's recurve (had it since I was four)
2- Dads Bear Kodiak Hunter ( he bought it shortly after getting out of the army in 1971) so I don't shoot it much.
3- Hoyt huntmaster takedown ( just to look at as limb makes a awful popping and cracking sound when strung or pulled back) had since I was 15.
4 & 5- Two wheel bows you all wouldn't care about but I mowed a lot of yards when I was fourteen to get the one and outfit it and the other Dad found at a yard sale and it was made the same year as my old compound but was about twice the price then.
**** Went ahead and emailed Mr. Turay about getting on his bud list and for a price :) )
So I'm without a steady shooter. After I get my granddaughters funeral paid for I'll be contacting Mr. Turay and ordering a Shelton with green glass and tiger maple or verawood riser..... That will be a shooter ;)
:nono:
Build list.... Won't let me edit lol

I am committed to keeping 12 or less and they all have to be shooters. I handed a Schulz off to someone that could get use out of it and ordered a Limited Edition on the same day. 11 and holding for now.
Too Many! Wait is there such a thing?
OMG! Your supposed to count them!! Who came up with that?
40 -+ if I had to guess, all left handed.
Right around 24 or 25. Havent bought one in a long time...well, six or seven months. I am due but no money. Maybe I should sell some to buy some.
About 14 I guess....sad part is I can't make up my mind if I need more or get rid of a few. ??
