I have been thinking about this new design for several years and finally figured it out - so I built one for a friend of mine. It uses a pneumatic cylinder to raise the weight and is very efficient.

That looks awesome! You have those marketed?
Bisch
Very nice, you should be marketing them.
very good
Yes you can get the from Kevin. He is an engineer and great inventor!
That looks great!! Does it do carbons like your first one?

Awesome design!
Dang Kevin, now you've taken the best spine tester I've ever had and made it perfect. Love the zero'ing method you've done here....much better than a screw.
solid design - best i've seen yet, by far!
Super!
Very ingenious!
What am I doing wrong? Can't get video to run.
I like it. You did such a great job on your first one too!!
Kevin has a gift few men have.
Tremendous job Kevin!! :notworthy:
Wow! Nice job on that. Love the foot pedal....
Fantastic. :)
Kevin,
Great job!
Ken
That is simply awesome!
When do you start production. Awsome :campfire:
Thanks for all of the compliments. I liked the challenge of getting all of these features in one design. I wonder how I can improve it.
Kevin
Kevin what's next?
Loved the video Kevin, Great looking tester
Very nice!
How can I get one?
That's pretty darn cool!
truly awesome job , kevin!!!
you asking for improvements, the only thing i could think of would be to set it up with a digital readout- kinda like the bearpaw one
less chance for error in the reading- and even quicker yet!!

sorry mods- will this link work?
not sure i understand why the other link is not allowed :dunno:
thanks
I have one question on it, can it be used also without power to the foot pedal, like the old style as well?
Fujimo, I have an all digital design in mind that will also weigh the shaft before spine testing it. It will basically work like this: turn on or zero the scale, insert shaft then hit a button and the spining operation starts. At the end the weight and spine are displayed. This will work like no other tester you have seen - if it works at all.
Don't wait up for one, this design is in my head and will require circuitry and code development and is not an active project I am working yet,
Stringstretcher - yes it can work manually. I think some sort of block that fits between the weight and the top of the main support will hold the weight up when installing the shafts.
Great Kevin. You have my info.
any of your Spine O Meter II still around...? :)
