Anybody try to change the grip on a bow?I have a older longbw with a locator grip.Trying to come up with a straight grip for it.Would adding leather to oneside work??Could use some ideas.....
Do a search for grips, I remember a few. and check out the how to section, they have a grip redo on there.
I've never done it but have contemplated it alot. I'm in the same boat, I have a bow with a locator and the rest of my bows are straight grip. If I were to do it to my one remaining locator grip I would remove the leather grip and use putty like epoxy to add enough material so when it cured I had enough to sand to my desired shape.
Bondo
Heavy leather glued together with contact cement will hold for ever. Easy to file & sand into shape.

X2. TG member Shawn Rackley just did this a week or so ago, PM him and he will be happy to explain his process.
I have used modeling clay also, one you shape it, let it dry and use the leather wrap to hold it in place. If you ever want to remove it, the process is very simple. Just remove the leather and tap it free
3 feathers i basically did what was said with leather. Send me a pm and i can send some pictures or explain it better
I've done that for a grip change using pieces of leather to build up and shape it to what I want.
What butch said I use the same principal to make a shelf on my self bows and to make handle round.
Olympic Archers use bondo to customize their grips.
