Title: What's wrong with my bow?
Post by: bartcanoe on January 21, 2013, 09:30:00 PM
I have a Checkmate TD Hunter that is shooting like it always haswhich is great when I do my part.

The problem I have is sometimes (not every time) I get a clicking sound when unstringing the bow.  Yes, I am using a stringer.  So what is the problem and possible solutions?

Are the limb bolts tight?  Might put something between the limbs and limb pads.  Could try bow wax.  Maybe a very shin layer of cork, leather, plastic, etc. Something to take up any gaps in the fit and provide some cushioning.  That's if the noise is coming from the riser/limb butt area.  If it's coming from the limb tip area, you probably have too much wax on the string near the loops.

Bolt seemed tight, but I took the limb off.  Then applied wax to pad, and riser pin which seems to have cured the problem.

Thanks,
