After breaking one of my fmj,s yesteday at a 3d shoot ( just behind the piont ) I'm thinking of footing them but don't know
What size metal shafts to get to fit ?
When I had my FMJ's they were the 500's. I footed them with a 1916. And the were pretty tough.
What size are they...500, 400, 340? They are all different diameters. I have some 400's I footed with 2018's but they were pretty tight.
Sorry should've said there 400's
I foot my 400's with 2018
you can check the how-to forum, charlie lamb posted up on that very subject.
good luck!
Thanks guys .

Ok I've just checked with all the uk dealers that sell metal arrows & 2018's are like rocking horse poo !!! Being as its the inside of the shaft. That matters ( ie 20 ) would a 2016 fit ? That's a more popular size in the uk .
I think if I had had 2016 shafts that is what I would have used. As i said, the FMJ shafts are a few thousands more than a regular Axis so the 2016 should be ok. Use an epoxy like JB Weld. It is thick and is very tough when cured.
Thanks bill , I'll order a couple of shafts & give it a go .

Measure the outside diameter of the FMJ's. This will let you know what size aluminum arrow you need to use.....DaveMP
John,
The 2016's will work just fine I have used those also, the 2018's are just a fuzz (technical term) tighter.
