With so many choices , if you had to pick just one bow which would it be and why?
-
ST Joe River recurve,58 inch bow, smooth, quiet, comfortable, quick.
-
Big Jim Buffalo bow , I shoot it the best.
-
My Wesley. (http://i1198.photobucket.com/albums/aa443/ChrisMancill/20130104_3_zps22f1d93a.jpg)
Gave it a full year without shooting another bow. Now it seems that I can't miss. Stumping or grouping in a bale it just hits where I am looking. Now for a critter to get infront of me.
-
My Cari-bow Peregrine... Or my Dryad Orion...wait, my Leon Stewart Lil Slammer... or my....I'm sorry...I can't ... :wavey:
-
Just barely got mine, it's a 60" 53@29 Randy Morin Banshee Longbow. Only have had it for about a week but I'm shooting better then I ever have before.

I would have to say my Widow PL longbows.
-
My go to bow is an old but reliable Black Widow SAIII. I have shot this bow since 1997 and it is my 4th Widow in 38 years of bowhunting. I have literally shot up three set of limbs on this bow and it feels like an old friend to me.
I am a one bow man and this old gal has been there for me for a long time. She is fast and dependable and most times shoots where I am looking. At 15 years old she is not as sexy as she once was but I would not want to be a critter out in front of her.

-
Right now its my Black Widow PCH II. I was my SA II untill I sold it cause im an idiot!
-
21st Century Edge. I shoot it better than any of my other bows.
-
My ACS's. :bigsmyl:

MOAB 53#@28".
-
My go to Bow for my Southern, River Swamp style of hunting is my 52# Osage Flat Bow. It is not only capable of dealing with deer and hogs, but I can, and have taken the string off to beat briars and brambles out of my way. I have jammed the end in the mud two years ago and pulled the skiff back to the bank, which kept me from checking the depth of Turkey Creek (off the Tom Bigbee River.) I feel it is a tool as well as a Bow.
There is just something more rewarding about making meat with equipment that I have made with my own hands.
-
Without a doubt my 64" Robertson Purist Longbow 58 lbs. @ 28"...the arrows go right where I'm lookin
-
Kanati
-
Damon Howatt Coronado (same as a Martin X200) 50@28 just a simple bow that works
-
My ol`Martin Hatfield. Not my prettiest bow,but smooth and fast.Just fits my hand.
-
God forbid! Just one bow? You mean hunt only one species of animal or shoot only one range of target? That's like choosing only one wine that would go with all meals.
I suppose if our deranged Governor rushed through another illegal law that limited me to one bow I would have to take my Damon Howatt Dream Catcher. Though I would cry real tears to have to part with my Browning Explorer, which is less draw weight and weighs a pound more but I shoot it better.
Though, I shoot my Wing Presentation-II even better still . . . and my Red Wing Hunters are shorter and handier . . .
NO, I WON'T DO IT. I NEED MORE THAN ONE! :scared:
-
You can't have just one to go bow. Bows are like fishing rods difrent bows for difrent situations.
-
my go to bow has got to be my new Black Creek Phantom XL, 60" 48lbs @28" bacote limbs and bacote and cocabolo riser. very sweet shooting bow. (http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss336/Lonnieb/018_zps432e301d.jpg) (http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss336/Lonnieb/023_zps18ae6212.jpg)
-
Right now my "go to" bow would be a '69 45# Bear Super Kodiak. This choice sometimes changes weekly, but for now I don't know how you could improve on this bow!

2. Miller Old Tom (tied w/#1)
3. John Strunk osage ELB
Those are the top 3 for me in my little collection, the rest are tied for number 4.

I only have three to chose from but it would be my 66# (72# @ my draw) Wes Wallace Stealth. Being the lightest bow I have it is easier to shoot for long periods of time without tiring and it still has enough oomph to take anything in North America. That being said as soon as I get my other Stealth back (81#) I will be shooting it more than the others unless I have physical problems that affect my drawing abilities.
-
Hmmm
-
Kwyk Styk for me!
Maxx
-
I have three to choose from, but for the next year, I will try to stick to my new(to me) Northern Mist Classic 68 65@ my 29" draw.
-
Bows have come and gone , but I keep going back to my Hummingbird Alpha male. Had a new 3 pc Hummingbird come in last Spring that I really liked shooting wise, but I ordered it with a gloss.
Felt like I was hauling out a grand piano to shoot,or like driving a shiny black Mercede's to the feed store, so just left it on the rack. Finaly sent it back to get it knocked down to a satin and hope to have it back this week.
Have a Whippenstick LB that I'm playing with that I really like also, almost sold it a while back, glad I didnt.
-
Hoyt Dorado 57#@28" actual draw weight,
(http://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd453/paul87250/2013-01-21_09-34-27_904_zps2140017c.jpg)
The only bow I own, it does all I need and more!! :archer:
-
JK Traditions KANATI 58" 50@28. It just. Feels right!
-
My two Kanati's.
-
Now, thanks to pamike, it'll be my Habu Vyper Kahn. It's a wonderful shooting experience.
-
Schafer Silvertip. If I had to make one shot to save myself I hope that would be the bow in my hands.
D.P.
-
Fedora take down recurve !
-
It would be my Bama Hunter Takedown. 66" and 55@28 with a Selway slide on quiver, 6 tapered Fir arrows tipped with Zwickey BH's

Wes Wallace Mentor.............Was my first custom bow........do not know if that has anything to do with it.....but....I keep going back to it, because I am confident I will hit what I am aiming at with that bow.
-
just keep coming back to my vyperkahn!
-
ulysses - just saw your post .... you are welcome!! Good luck the vyperkahn.
-
Just one......... :biglaugh:
-
Would have to be my Roberston Purist. It used to be my Mystical...seems this Purist just fits me better.
God Bless,
Nathan
-
My Zipper SXT !!!
-
This is the most difficult question occassionally posted on this site.
The proof for me of the go-to bow is what ends up sharing my tree-stand with me. That will be the bow that I have the most confidence in.
It has been different in each of the past three seasons.
This doesn't necessarily mean it is my best bow. It is entirely likely that I am biased and subjective in my selection process. I tend to favor great looking bows. However, I'm trying to get over this.
2010: Strickland Stick Curve
2011: Habu Hycurve
2012: Bigfoot Sasquatch
2013: ?? -- Likely an ILF though -- Titan 2 or Morrison.
My confidence is inspired by:
-- Smooth shooting
-- Quiet
-- Fast shooting compared to my other bows
-- My accuracy with the bow
This one is a leading contender so far this year (but the night is young).

-
Just picked it up and it seems I can't miss with it...Robertson Peregrine 60" and 53@28
-
I have four! All three piece bows.
Morrison Cheyenne / foam core recurve limbs
Zipper SXT / Evo foam core recurve limbs
Thunderhorn wood core longbow limbs
Black Canyon / Actionwood core recurve limbs
They all shoot good for me and no matter where I put the pressure in the grip they perform. That is a must for me as you never know what kind of angle you will get while hunting shots. Most all bows made today perform fine with perfect form and conditions on a range.
-
Until last xmas it was my widow ( kudu ) but since then its been my buffalo ( karma ) the name says it all :bigsmyl:
-
In no particular order it's either my Habu Vyperkan or "Big Bertha" my old Habu recurve. If it were not for those two I would be shooting a Black Widow MA. However there are a lot if bows I have not yet shot.
-
At the present time Bruin WoodsMaster 50# @ 32"
post images no wider than 640!

My titan setup just a great shooting bow, easy to tune and I love the ILF system and many many limb options out there. just need to get some 50# bf extremes :)

66" 60#@28"
Too much bow for me, but it just feels right. Martins are seriously underrated!
-
Legends Cyclone, longbow, very smooth and fast.
-
My J D Berry seems to get the job done every time.
-
Which ever one I pick that day, Silvertip, Brack Quest, Cari-bow Slynx or Bear type I A. Shoot them all the same and same arrow out of any of them. I would never limit myself to just one bow.
-
Longbow - Brackenbury Old Timer, JD Berry Serpentine
Recurve - Bruin Woodsmaster
although I do have a new JD Bewrry Vixen coming soon that I am sure is going to see a lot of use
-

Did you mean....this week?

-
Hey Trap...let's think about at least having the potential to use 50 year old bows in 2014...of course I sold my 64 Kodiak but it was maybe a bit light anyway...I have lots of time to pick up another one...I am guessing you may have one or two kicking around
DDave
-
Never owned a 64 Kodiak Dave, I ran out of $$$ at '62 :banghead:
I do have a 64" 59 Kodiak at a hard hitting 55# though. Will that work?

I like all the bows I have ever shot!

I would have to say my bob lee heavyweight just shoots so nice and doesnt look bad either lol

I have my collection down to just "keepers" now,but out of all the bows,I go to my Timberline "BamYew" most often.
66" 66#@27" I love the way it shoots and the grip fits me perfect.

My go to is a hickory backed Ipe longbow I made myself...
Pulls 60# at my peewee draw of 25"...
600 grain ash shafts (total weight) with 125 grain Zwickey Eskimo heads.

Hmmm...a 55 year old bow at 55 pounds...sure sounds like some good mojo to me...I ran out of dollars about the time I started finding 64 inch 59's everywhere I looked...as you may know my draw length, on a good day, is right around 30 inches and the appeal of the 64 inchers is great...btw you gotta meet the guy I sold the '64 to...he used to operate as Alberta Traditional Bowhunts and lives in Edson which is where Silver Fox is based

My Habu Bushmaster from 1999 is my go to bow....it is 60#@29 and the one I shoot most accurate of them all....but the Robertson Fatal Styk I had and sold could have taken its place as it was a pure joy to shoot. Just picked up a Robertson Vision Falcon so hoping it is just as sweet and might be the new number one...but still the Habu.

Robertson Fatal Styk recurve!!

I think I'm going to focus on my GN Critter Gitter this year. Maybe......
-
I have about 150 arrows that I should use up, that fly best out of my left hand and right hand 51@26" Robertson longbows, so my arrows decided for me.
-
My go to is a 62" snaky Hickory flatbow that pulls about 45-50# @ my 25-26" draw.
It cost me <$5.
-
Right now this one.

My Assenheimer. It shoots great!

Mine is my Gail Martin Classic Takedown,55@28. Smoothest bow I've ever shot.My back up is my Dreamcatcher,55@28.(nut)
-
Mine is a Sarell's Sierra and has been for years. I am a one bow guy and always looking for a 2-piece that shoots better than my Sierra but have yet to find it.
It was my first longbow and although I have probably shot a couple hundred other bows, but it's still my favorite. There have been two that tempted me in the past but one was a collectors piece in perfect condition except for not having the original rest and I'd want to hunt it so I passed on that one. The other was just as good shooting but not any better than mine and I would have got it if it had been a 2-piece but since it was a 1-piece I decided to keep my Sierra.

I'm pretty much a one bow guy. My friends think I'm cheap, and they may be right!
Anyhow, I used to shoot a 58# Allegheny Mountain recurve. An accidental dry fire resulted in a cracked limb tip after nearly 20 years of use.
I've now had a 56# Foley recurve for 3+ years. I love it. Ron Foley doesn't know it yet, and my buddies doubt my intentions, but I hope to have a Foley longbow one day soon, just for kicks. Nice bows.

My HOLM MADE 50# River Runner recurve. It's a buck slayer!!!

Today, it would be the 62" GN Critter Gitter or 58" 3 pc Pronghorn. I'm in the process of moving out several bows in my collection and am sure I will pick up a few others in the process. I plan to narrow it down this spring.

Kohannah Kurve (or Fury). The grip fits my hand perfectly and they are both dead quiet.
-
Cari-bow Slynx 2pc [email protected] this bow!!
-
Martin Hatfield takedown at 60#. I like the weight of the bow and the way it reacts when ya let that arrow fly. Through a.little trial and error it is pretty quiet now as well.
-Aaron
-
Wild Horse Creek Quest, mild r/d bow. 53# @28" It just fits me.
-
Hmmmmm. Can't say as I have a go-to bow. Or, put another way, all of my bows are go-to bows. I wouldn't own a bow I didn't have complete confidence in. Life is too short to limit myself to one, or two, or three, or.......bows. They're all good. :bigsmyl:
-
I usually go to several. Mostly Marriah Thermal, Morrison Cheyenne, or Morrison Cougar.
-
Wild Horse Creek T/D Longbow 56# @ 27" Smooth and shoots a great arrow, packed with lots of MOJO.
-
Normally it is my 65# Hill Wesley Special, but I had an injury last spring that has never completely cleared up. So this past season I hunted with my 55# Hill Cheetah, and I have also been shooting my 50# Big Five recently at 3D.
-
Black Widow PLX Osage If I had to pick just one
-
Right now it's a Black Widow SA3 @57#. Just can't kill that bow, and I've really tried. It's seen more abuse than any bow I've ever owned and just shrugs it off. The ONLY reason it's not been retired to the mantle is it hasn't earned it's horns - yet.
She's come awful close way too many times to count, though... :archer2:
-
Bob Lee Ultimate. Fits me like a glove..

Without a doubt, my Wes Wallace Mentor :bigsmyl:
