I have had several. I have known Steve for many years, not personally, but chatting with him at shows and tournaments. He is a great guy, and stands by his product. He was well-known locally 20 years ago, for his attention to detail in his bows. Even though his bows were already great 20 years ago, his quality and attention to detail continues to improve, and his new bows are his best.

I've been shooting Abbotts for many years. I'm on my third one, and I drool over the bows on his stock list about once a week.

Steve is a heck of a nice guy and makes an incredible bow at a very reasonable price.

I sold one in the archery shop two weeks ago.  I shot it a bunch before it was sold-liked it a lot.  He makes a fine bow, and this one was bamboo and gorgeous!

I've got two, a main and a back-up. The main Abbott is really the only bow I shoot unless I'm using my self-bow.
Steve and I go to a lot of the same California trad shoots. He's a great guy to spend time with and, as you already know, he makes a wonderful bow.

Stickshooter,

To really appreciate an Abboott longbow you need to shoot it alot, and talk with Steve.  You can hear the pride he has in his voice about his bows.  It is not just a job for him, it is a career, an advocation.  He is all about passion.  Steve cuts the Yew for all his bows.  He dries it, he takes a stave and sees the bow  before he  makes the first draw on the stave.  His bows are made with passion.  He is a master bowyer.  An Abboot bow is not just a hunting or shooting tool, it is a work of art.

Congrats on a great bow by a great bowyer.

Bob.

If it's the same Bill Price I'm thinking of, he died some years ago. I have one of his bows, which is kind of a collector's item replica of an old English target longbow. I believe he also made modern longbows, but I've never shot one. There might be a premium on Bill's bows now that they are no longer being made.  Since Steve still makes plenty of bows, that might be a better deal for someone who actually wants to shoot them.

Never shot a Price, though I've seen them and like the design.  I do have a 62", 52# Abbott and it's the type of bow that surprises with how easy it is to shoot.  The skived leather grip (somewhat of an Abbott trademark) is slim and comfortable in the hand.  The bow isn't overly fast (I shoot wood and aluminum with it, no carbon) but it does feel good and handles well.  Overall, a very nice little bow that's easy on the eyes and the wallet.  I'd definately recommend them for those who like mild R/D longbows.

At a 3d shoot a young fellow asked me if he could try my Schulz.  His draw was about the same as mine so I said fine, if I can shoot your bow.  His was an Abbot. Very smooth and accurate. I tried to buy it from him and he wanted to buy my Schulz. I would not part with my Schulz and he would not part with his Abbot.  If they are better today than that one was, that would take some doing.  I should take a closer look at them.  It really drives me nuts how many great bows are available these days.
