if you are using photobucket to store images for posting in trad gang, and you have been using the upload image auto resize feature, IT DOES NOT WORK WITH THE NEW PHOTOBUCKET.
if you are relying on the phtobucket image upload auto resizing feature to set all your images for posting to 640 wide, we strongly suggest going back to the original (old) photobucket.
to revert back to the original old photobucket (that allows upload image auto resizing) click on "Switch back to the original photobucket" light blue link text found in the upper right hand part of the main photobucket screen.
after posting an image, you can check it's size by putting your mouse pointer on the image, right clicking on "view image infomation".
the first number of the image size is its width, and that should be 640 or less.
Thanks for the info, Rob. I noticed this earlier when I posted a pic that I tried to resize. The photo info on PB said it was narrow enough, but the photo on the post said otherwise.
I'm using www.imgur.com. (http://www.imgur.com.) Free, resizes, works great. - Jay Campbell

This happened to me as well. That seems to be fixed now though.
I was just having this problem this morning trying to post a pic. I switched back to the old photobucket then and all is good again (at least for now, till they changes things up on me).
Bisch
that is why I'm still using the old bucket, in my mind it is way easier to use so I went back to the old one!
I never left the old Photobucket. They keep trying to get me to change but its too hard for me to learn new computer tricks so I'm staying with the old. It works just fine for me...except for the occasional hick-up.
Yep, still using the old photobucket too. They sent me a survey this weekend around 40 questions long asking why I switched back to the old one.

i signed up but don't see how it will allow upload auto resizing?
I had a hard time posting pictures the last time I listed a bow.
How do you change back to the old photobucket?
That's why I went back to the old PB. Works perfect !!

That explains a lot....thanks.

Switched back....is this correct?
Either way, that's a great pic Roger! Brings back a lot or childhood memories.

you can easily answer your question by putting your mouse point on the image, right click, select "view image info" and you will see that the image measures 768x1024.
the first number is all that matters and needs to be 640 or less.
so, no - that image is way too wide.
switching back to the old original photobucket - the one that used to auto resize all your uploaded images to 640 wide - will never resize any image you have uploaded with the new photobucket.
and therein lies the problem.
each one of those large images needs to be resized. you can do it by logging into the old original photobucket, deleting those large images, and uploading them again from your computer. if you have auto upload resize set to 640x480, yer good to go.
here again is the link topic on how to set up the old original photobucket for upload auto resizing ...

really sorry for all the problems with image sizing. we been ambushed by photobucket, that's about it. i hope they get their act together.
Almost all of my albums have been switched around or they are just missing the pictures on photo bucket. I'll be finding a new photo service immediately.
Re adjusted settings...test

That seems too big? My settings are correct. This is frustrating.
Rob, they don't have their act together yet. I just completed a survey by photoshop. No where in the survey were we asked about the resizing feature or album and picture switching / missing.
Rob,
Thanks for the info. I'm just about done with photobucket...
I think I'll try something else.
Thanks again

hasn't changed size at all, still 768x1024.
yes, very frustrating, i feel your pain, really.

the
absolute best thing everyone can do is learn how to crop, resize, and enhance the focus of images right in their own pc. there are more than a few excellent and free and simple to use graphics apps for pc, apple and linux. once yer image looks great in your pc, choose any online image archive and upload - confident that your posted image will be the right size and looking its best.
Thank you Rob!!
I would be lost about this stuff if not for you and others here that have helped me immensely.
:notworthy: :notworthy:
God bless,Mudd :campfire:
what i'd LOVE to do is teach the use of graphics apps to those that really wanna learn and be free of using these online images archive for editing their photos. kinda hard to do, but maybe i can put something together for windows users of xp, win7 and win8.
Thank you for being patient with my LACK of computer knowledge, now if you need it built from wood, I'm your man.
THANKS

mike, your arrows alone are freakin' Awesome!
Hi Rob: You asked about IMGUR auto resizing. On your images page, to the left are a couple of buttons. One is auto-resize imports, which allows you a number of choices from the drop down, including a 600x ____, for web pages. You can have it off or on, and import a lot of images with resize, or just one. On the image page for each image, it gives a number of choices for the type of address that fits your application. Pretty simple. - Jay Campbell
Sorry - it's on the right of the page. :-) - Jay
Doing these "auto re size" up loads really degrade a lot of your photo's.....
i know it takes a bit more time, but once you get your pics uploaded to your PC from your camera it's always best to use a photo editing software to crop as much as you can and re size it before up loading to photo bucket. your pictures come out much better, and the upload time it takes is much less.
For you guys that use Microsoft office. Instead of clicking on your photos to open them in MS picture viewer. Right click and open them in Microsoft Picture manager instead. The editing software is really user friendly and you can run through a bunch of pictures pretty darn quick cropping and resizing them prior to uploading to the bucket.
maybe that will help some of you... Kirk

This photo of Terry learning his form came from the old photobucket.
Excellent image quality and interesting to see how our moderators started out. That was funny :)
By the way - trivia for the day - Johnny Weissmuller set a freestyle swimming record for the Univ of Michigan swimming pool that still stood when I was there in the early 60's. Anybody remember his swimming style with his head a yard out of the water?
I found the same thing with the new version, so I switched back within a few days. I also did their survey and let them know why I switched. Hopefully they will get it incorporated into the new version.

I know he was fast in the old Tazan movies. Those crocs didn't stand a chance, LOL!
the two finger flemish release, an under the face target anchor, string silencers on the limbs - oh the horrors! :D

If "Boy" is going to hit what he and Tarzan are looking at he'd best raise his bow arm quite a bit...lol
I wish the TG owner would register with Tapatalk, it is free for a forum owner. You can then post pics directly from an IPad, IPhone or other Smart phones to a forum without going the PB route. Bue--.

Finally!!
roger that, roger - picture perfect!
Too add some confusion here, I made sure my cam was set to 640 range. Uploaded to PB but they came out 708. So I went to view library, moved mouse over thumbnail till the tool icon showed. Clicked edit media, clicked adjustment, clicked resize, typed in 640/480 clicked apply, then clicked save and replace! They all show up now on PB as they are 640/480 BUT they still come up in a post as 708/1024. Does making a change a PB take some time to show or do I have to entirely delete and start over? Shame it was a pictorial for a build along and figured I had it done and deleted pics from camera.

when you edit an image IN photobucket, it allows you to save the image as the original name or as a "copy" name. make sure to save it as the original name.
if you've resized a wide image to 640 wide, then saved it as the original name, your posted image will show the new size, BUT you must refresh/reload your browser so that the browser's cache gets updated with the new image size. check it out and see! that should do it!
Photobucket FAQs also state that it may take up to 40 minutes for the resize to adjust permanently on their site... Yet another PB downfall.

some long weeks ago, I had similar issues pre-new PB update...they then told me it could take 36hrs to 48 hrs to update...they recommended that one choose Save As Copy and then use the copy as that was instant...just not if your replaced original.
I've been complaining to them vociferously for months... they quit responding LOL

if you have a suggestion for trad gang, it's best to pm or email an admin or mod rather than making a post that might not get seen.
in any event, sorry - tapatalk will not function with flat file database forums such as trad gang's ubb classic. it's meant to work with certain relational database forums like php, vbulletin, sm, mybb, and just a few more.

Testing Imgur

With a little help from Jay Campbell and Imgur I think I'm up and running again. Goodbye Photoshop, I'll not look back just as you didn't look ahead.
I guess I am the only one who has had no problems with the new photobucket. It resizes my photos with no problems. I have a bunch of photos on there and when I transitioned to the new site, I had no problems, I still upload and my photos are automaticly resized.

No real problems to speak of on my end either with the new photobucket. I made the switch because I am "assuming" that eventually we will not have the option of old and new versions.
I have not seen the option of automatically converting all uploaded pictures to a certain size, and that is not something I am interested in anyhow. I simply resize pics I want to share here.
