Yesterday a small bunch of TG'ers, and some friends got together at Shawn's to chase rabbits....it was a hunt beyond anyone's expectation!!
There were 10 of us to start. The way we hunt at Shawn's is kinda like driving deer. We send "watchers" around to the far end of the cover we're hunting, then the "pusher's" try to nudge the bunnies to the watchers.
Sometimes the pushers get the shots, but mostly it's the watchers that get to shoot.
Hopefully some of the other guys will get on here a tell their own stories of the hunt
1st push I set out the watchers and took the end spot. Cade was off to my left...

Lots of shooting, and a couple connections..."Indianabowman"(Terry), "Homer"(Matt),Shawn, and Gary...unbelievable start!

Matt and Cade(aka-GuruII)...

The watchers heading for the next patch of cover...Terry, Tim "TimmyK", Cade, and Matt...

We gave them some time to in place and we started in...Shawn was the first to score about half way thru the push. Shortly after Shawn saw a rabbit between us and we closed in on it and it showed on my side of the briars. First shot appeared to to stun the rabbit with a grazing head shot, the 2nd shot was on the money!
Then, as usual, as we closed in on the watchers things got exciting and up ahead of me I hear the "whoops and hollers"....it sounded like they were yelling and congratulating Cade!
That's right...Cade had killed his 1st rabbit!!
He continues to make me so proud!
How cool for Shawn and I to also kill a bunny on the same push as Cade killed his first ever...
Hopefully someone will write the story of how Cade's hunt "happened"....I'd sure like to read it!
Some random shots....

Way to go Cade!!!!!!!
Looks like a fun time, for sure.

Down the gauntlet...

On one of the pushes along the "Hedgerow", there were a few of us waiting for the watchers to get into position. We were just talking when I look down and start looking at the cover around me and see a bunny trying to hide under a small log. Since I'd already killed a bunny, I called Matt in to shoot it.
He made a good shot but somehow the rabbit got going and was finished off by Timmy down the line....bunny #6!!!
Then on the "Island of Trees" push, Shawn and I doubled up again...
Shawn, Tim, Matt, and Glen "Glenbo"..
Like I said hopefully some other will fill in on their hunts. Because we killed more bunnies than we ever could have expected!
The final tally was 12!!! And the last 1 1/2hrs there were only 8 of us!
A very tired, and very hungry bunch of bunny hunters heading back to "basecamp"...

David
Wow, great job guys, and Congratulations to Case on his first rabbit!
That's awesome guys! Looks like a blast! Congrats!
That looks like a great hunt to me. I wish I had a group of guys around here into trad archery and do the same on bunnies. I love rabbit cooked in cream of mushroom the crock pot.
What quiver does Cade (GURUII) use? I like that deer print embroidered into the leather.
Way to go guys! Some of my most memorable memories as a kid was rabbit hunting.Love them shreded up while frying them in a skillet with lots of chopped up onions and sage.
Way to go Cade ! !!!!!!!!!!
Way to go Cade and All.

Looks like fun was had by all. :goldtooth:
Congradulations to all!!
Hap
What kind of bow does Cade shoot? Congrats fellas, looks like an awesome time
Congratulations Cade on a great shot.  :clapper:
And wow, to all involved good shooting and what a great rabbit spot that must be (or was  )
Way to go Cade! That rabbit hunting looks like a whole lot of fun!
Well done Cade!Congrats everybody.
Awesome, good stuff. Congrats!
Way to go Cade! David I'm with you that brings back a bunch of memories of good times and great people!
Awesome! Congrats to all!
Looks like You guys had a blast! HAPPY HUNTING
Awesome. Well done many congrats to Cade and team
Outstanding job yall
Great shooting everyone, looks like you had a blast!
First, congratulations Cade.Awsome shot buddy.Secondly,Thank you again Shawn for having us up and opening your home to us, as well as feeding us.The hunt was an absolute blast! The only thing better than the action was the group of quality individuals I was able to hunt with.Lots of effort expended by all involved pushing impenetrable cover. Many shots taken, much game taken. Shawn is to rabbits what Curt is to turkeys. Anytime I see Gary and Tim there is something dead at the end of an arrow.Although I was in the minority that did not connect,I had opportunities. What else can you ask for.
Awesome hunt fellers!
Oh man that looks like a great time!
Some of those Bunnies are huge!!
Special congrats to Cade on his first "bouncer".
Heck I was almost 30 before I got mine with trad bow...course thats when I started trad but darn Cade if you arent lighin everything on fire this fall. Way to go Bud.
You-da-little-man!! GuruII!!!
Congratulations to Cade and all the other hunters! We don't have that many rabbits in our whole county here in IL!
If Robert Griffin the third is "RGIII", to Guru Cabrerra the second I guess I'd say....
"Congratulations, GCII"!!!!!

Cottontails are good eatin'!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
You all have a lot more cover than we. It was 0 when i got up, but waited until 10 to hunt and it warmed up to 11. This is spot-stalk on a hevily hunted place. They like sitting on the sunny side but under sage. You would think the snow would help illuminatethem.... Binos to spot and the slide infor a shot is our MO at this time of year. I was alone today and there was the rancher feeding cattle and Loyd, his dog. It was a short hunt as Loyd fruitloops through all the sage flats chasing rabbits and quail. He thinks he is helping. Still a great time, but not nearly as productive as yours. Congrats to all, especially Cade.
Way to go guys! :clapper:
Wow! What a great rabbit hunt! Nice job Cade!!
:bigsmyl:
You guys know how to live and raise boys. Happy for your son. BIG Day! You motivated me to get out tomorrow morning.
Congrats Cade
Congrats to all!! That's a lot of bunnies!!
Heck of a day for sure... looks really fun glad to see cade sack his first!!
Good stuff guys, look's like you all had a great day. Congrats on your first bunny Cade!
Congratulations again Mr. Cade! Great shooting and way to stick with it all day.
Thanks to Shawn for opening up his home to all of us. I really needed a day outside after having been sick all week. It was a fantastic day with a bunch of quality guys!
Looking forward to the next time.
Congrats Cade and everyone else who had a wonderful time.
I really wished I could have been there with you fellas :campfire:
That is a very nice pile of rabbits. Congratulations to Cade, and the rest of you all as well.
What a hunt!!!! And congrats to Cade!
SWEET!
Hey guys another great day after bunnies with stick and string, many thanks yet again to Shawn and his wife for allowing us to do this. Still blows my mind we were able to get 12 with so few guys.
Since I had a front row seat to Cade's first bunny kill I thought it only be fair to share the experience...
We were closing in on the end of another push with the pushers closing in on the watchers when Matt sees one disappear into a real thick pile. He called Cade over and set him up in position on the opposite side of the pile. My dad set up behind Cade as backup and I went out into the field a bit in case he decided that was the best escape route. Matt held his position until the pushers could come up behind and close off those routes. Then homer said "I'm going in be ready". With two good crunches of the pile out came the bunny. Once he came around the pile and saw Cade he came to a halt and before you could blink Cade had an arrow on its way and it connected. One arrow was all it was gonna take but having watch Cade grow for so long and knowing this was his first bunny I wanted to get to it quickly, I was lucky to get another arrow in and pin it down, game over. High fives all around and another congrats to Cade and to all that were there it was a heck of a day and hope we can all get together again soon.
It was great to witness Tim K drill two at point blank range within ten minutes.I long for my younger eyes. Thanks Curt for not mentioning my 'dudd" arrow.Missed oppurtunity.Lesson learned.
Yea buddy, you guys done good and congrats Cade on your first bunny. Some of those spots looked real familiar...
now that's a hunt I'm sorry I missed. good going guys
A very productive bunny hunt, I'd say! Congrats Cade...I'm really enjoying watching young Cade mature into the fine hunter he is, and in his Dad's pride in him! Way to go Curt!
Thanks for sharing. Great job Cade keep it up.
Man I wish I lived closer!!! Way to go Cade!! Those pics sure do flood the memory bank. Congrats to you all, time well spent!
:clapper: Congrats to all. I know it was alot of fun and that hunt is one of the things I miss about NY. Looks like everyone was "dead" on with the shootin :biglaugh:

Hey Damon, I know right after it all happened he told me that he may have caught Cade's shot on the Gopro, but he had to check when he got home. Late in the hunt the batteries died.
Haven't heard from him yet how the camera did
How flipping cool for Cade!! Awesome bro! However. I think all of you piling up into the bed of the truck. Has got to be some kind of traffic violation :biglaugh:
But I guess you could make the argument with a still shot that the truck was parked!
Congrats to Cade again!!
Ok, bear with me guys. This is my first hunt story ever.
I had already had 2 shots on the first push and felt good about the spot I was in. I had been there last year and had a few shots.
Within 5 minutes of standing I heard "BUNNY!" and it was close. Then I saw it running full speed parallel to me. I shot... CRACK! I hit a tree.
I quickly gathered my wits and nocked another arrow. It wasn't long before I heard "BUNNY!", but it didn't sound close. Before I knew it I heard a yell of victory. It sounded like my dad's voice?
I didn't have time to wonder about it because before I knew it I saw a bunny just fly by. I managed to get one shot off, but it had missed.
To Be Continued...
I wish I was there guys! Awesome hunt! I had a sick lil man to take care of though Friday and couldnt get another day off.
Cade....well done sir! And congrats to the rest of you all too!
I hope I can make a hunt before the season ends. I need to bleed a lil....ya know. Ha...
Ok where was I...
After I retrieved my arrows I got back to my spot, where I had shots in every direction. It wasn't long before I heard it again..."BUNNY!" This time it sounded close.
After missing about 4 times including the push before, I knew I should get back, hold for a second, and let it rip. I missed. Very soon after I saw Mr. Matt (Homer) draw back and shoot. I didn't know if he had hit the rabbit or not, but I saw one run right between us and into a big pile of brush.
I thought I wouldn't get another shot because I could make out the pushers now, but I was still ready. Then I heard Mr. Matt (Homer) say that he was going to push the bunny that I had seen earlier go into the pile of brush.
He made us wait a while though, but I knew it was for the good because we were now surrounding the pile. I heard 1 2 3, then he pushed it out. When I saw it I drew back, held for a second, and let it rip. THUMP, I hit it! It tried to run, but Timmy K. had an arrow on the way and pinned it to the ground. We picked it up and walked into the open for pictures. My dad had shot one as well! Without knowing it I saw that Shawn had killed one too!
I must say thank you to Shawn for inviting us into his home and taking us for a great hunt. Thank you to Timmy K. also for getting that bunny down and finishing it off for me.
It was a blast!

Congrats on your accomplishments as an archer Cade. Your stories are part of you and your adventure in archery is an adventure for us as well. Thanks for posting it reminds us old guys of our youth.
Good stuff Cade, congrats Brother!
Whoa Curt.....that is one heck of rabbit line up! That little bunny of Cade's didn't run too far with that perfect shot! Nice! :D
:clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
Very nice! Nice story as well Cade! You've done something most trad-bow hunters wont ever do!
:campfire:
Thanks for telling your story Cade. Great shooting those little rabbits are a tough target for sure. I can't wait till I get to hunt with you one day.
Awesome story Cade, told like an old pro which with your upbringing I guess you are now. ;) thanks little buddy for sharing your story with us. Great job every body else too!
Wish I'd been there too, I know what kind of host Shawn is first hand   Good to see you after em Bud.
Awesome job in writing up the story Cade! I'm sure there are MANY archery clubs or groups like PBS, Compton, New York Bowhunter, and others that would love for you to send in your story.
You did good big boy! Now we have you started we are going to count on you to write up our future bowfishing and other adventures.
Congrats again GuruII! Great hunt and great writing!
Nice story, Cade! You make me want to go bunny hunting! I've never tried it. I look forward to reading your version of more hunting stories soon!
Cade, that is indeed an awesome accomplishment and very well thought out and told story. You are a lucky young man to have a dad that goes all out to keep you involved in what ever you want to do. You have , in your short life, done things that a lot of folks on TG will only dream of doing. Good luck on future hunts, baseball and anything else you take a notion to do. Hope to see you on here with a dead pig soon. DB
Great write up Cade!! Like your shooting its great and only stands to keep getting better! Do I see future TBM articles? Congrats again young man! I look forward to more stories from you
Boy, thats a chip off the old block story telling. The apple does not fall far from the tree. Congrats on your year pal, stick with it. Through out your life you will be faced with temptations and diversions that try to pull you from this lifestyle but for sure, time spent with your family and especially while hunting is the only thing of true value in this world. This is not a "Welcome to the crew" post from me cause I feel like youve been a part of the gang since I 1st met you way back when, you may have still been in pampers at the time ;) . Keep up the good work and its been a pleasure seeing you grow into a young man.
Sounds like a awesome hunt! Congrats to Cade especially!
For a first time story teller you did pretty darn good Cade! :notworthy:
Tell your little sister I said hello!
Tim
Awesome story Cade!!! Stoked to be able to hear your side of the hunting story.
Staci just registered on TG too. Hopefully I can convince her to write a story too.
Staci and I always enjoy hearing about your bowhunting adventures! Keep up the awesome work buddy!!! If you're not too busy, I'd love to have you add one of your hunting stories to the Stalker Blog!
P.S. If you teach me how to shoot like you, I'll trade you for surfing lessons! ;)
Ryan
Let me see......
Is a good person, like his dad-check
Hunts like his dad-check
Shoots like his dad-check
Kills like his dad-check
And......tells stories like his dad-check!!!
Way to go Cade, I am looking forward to reading many more stories of hunts and shoots between you and your dad, you both should be very proud!

Wonderful 1st story Cade!! Very impressive with the bunny. They are tough.
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Great stuff Cade! Congrats.
You guys notice that Curt has been feeding that boy well also. He grew 3-4" since we bowfished together in the summer.
Young man, it looks like you have not only been listening and learning from your parents, but your teachers as well.
Excellent job on the story...I felt like I was there
Keep up the good work and I hope one day soon you can get your Dad to bring you out to Compton so we can all get a little shooting in. My son is just a "hare" older than you and would love to have more kids his age to hang out with there.
Where do I start... Congrats to Cade on his first rabbit and first story! It was very exciting to be 15 yards away when it happened. It was a great day for all, I was able to get 2 rabbits myself and be around a bunch of great guys. I guess the biggest laugh of the day was everytime we had someone say- "Don't move, don't anyone move!" which was often followed up by an "Ohhh @#%$!" Push after push, thorn after thorn and bunny after bunny, good times were had by all. Thanks again to Sean and Cindy for welcoming us into thier home and thanks to Cade for letting me back him up on a good hunting spot. He can be my hunting partner anytime! Hope to see you all soon.
P.S. BUNNY, BUNNY, BUNNY! :clapper:
Good stuff Cade, You sure Tell a great story! Cant wait to read it in one of my favorite Magazines.
Congrats again!
Congratulations Cade.I really enjoyed your story and hunting with you. When I first met you a short three years ago you were a young future bow hunter. No doubt about buddy, you are now a successful bow hunter. I am sure this the first of many hunting stories you will bring us. Looking forward to it!
Looks like a great time with a great group of people! Congrats to Cade and all the other bunny hunters.
Thank you all for all the compliments on my first bunny and my first story.
Great story Cade! I'm glad I was there to share it with you guys, it was a great shot you made you didn't really need me at all but I would have really kicked myself if he some how got away on us!
I'm glad I was able to be there for your first bunny since I failed to get you your first carp :banghead:
Congrats again!
Great shooting and story telling Cade! Congrats!!

Cade, congratulations on a great hunt and story. As far as the story tellin', you'll be right there with Mr. Lamb if you keep this up for long (ask your dad how to search for his stories here or perhaps your dad has his book). Anyway, keep up the great work in the woods and on this site.  :clapper:
