Title: 4 blade Zwicky's
Post by: Stone Knife on August 20, 2007, 12:55:00 PM
I have been using 2 blade zwicky's will i get god penetration with the four blade? I'm shooting around 47# with a 475-500 grain arrow keeping my shots 25 and under. I will be tree stand hunting most of the time.

Jim, I don't know about penetration, but I do know that I had always had a problem geting the small bleeder blades SHARP. I finaly gave up and gave the bleeders a "ragged" edge with a chainsaw file.

Good Luck!!!!!   :archer:

I've used and still do use both. I don't think the bleeders really have much of an effect on penetration, they do cut a bit more, but they are so small its just enough to let the shaft slide through easier, so its about a wash on penetration. The bleeders are a pain to sharpen though.

These are good penetrating heads for sure. I sharpen the bleeders on one side only...kinda like the Grizzly BH. Using a six inch Grobet file I can the get the bleeders plenty sharp in just a short time.

Ric....the bleeders are a CINCH to sharpen...just check the clips in the how to...its a no brainer.  If only the main blades were that easy!

Stone,

I've been shooting Z 4 blades for over 20 years, and they blow through deer like they were made of paper...but, if I was shooting that weight you are, I'd stick with the 2 blade Deltas.
