Very nice Seth! You, your Brother, and Bro in Law have got some great Kills this year, kind of like a dynasty :biglaugh:
Man that is a fine buck!! Like the bloody arrow in the quiver. MS and LA getting better every year (or at least I hope).
I have had the same idea all day. I will get mine up first thing tomorrow morning.
Will,
I have been thinking about this the last week or so after seeing the fine deer taken by You, Swinestalker, Joebuck, Graybarkhunter etc... I know i'll miss a few so I'll stop. But you guys have tore it up this year!
Really encourage me to what can happen with time effort, and of course the Lords blessings.
Very nice, so far........
South Ms, I think your rattlesnake thread was one of the coolest ones of the year. Makes us think about lookin down a lot when your trying to look up and around for your quarry . we only think we're the highest predators in the woods..
John,
It is a great idea for sure, I am glad to see the rise of tradtional archery as of late. We should all get together a couple times a year and fling some arrows.

Yes sir, you Mississippi boys have done well ! I actually never knew Mississippi was a hot spot for bucks of those caliber !
I was noticing the same thing, some great deer out of Mississippi. Congrats guys.
Will,
Agree we need to organize a MS TradGang shoot or hunt, I would love to pick you guys brains on hunting, shooting, etc...
Afew fr the coast have been attending the HH Class's and are planning to attend the Compton Spring Fling, any of you guys going?
I would love to go, and may, but I work very little during hunting season so I have a lot of catching up to do after the season.

Sounds good to me lets try and get up as soon as the season is over. What are the dates of the spring fling Feb 24-26?
Will,
I believe those dates are correct, if not really close it will start on Friday and run through Sunday. I'm sitting in a natural hide right now and don't have a calendar with me.
Me Tommy Ballinger (Pascagoula Archer), Shane Champion (Champ38), and maybe Kirk Barnard (Possumh Head) are going.
David, and Cliff,
Fine deer and other critters! Do you guys know each other? Hunt the same areas?
The Mississippi boys have it figured out dont they.
Most folks call me by my middle name, Travis, not Cliff, so it took me a moment to realize you were referring to me. I have not had the pleasure of meeting David and don't know if we hunt any of the same areas. I hunt several areas along the Mississippi river in wilkinson and Adams county, from the Lake Mary area to the Annas bottom area. I also hunt the Homochitto River bottoms near my home in Wilkinson County.
Travis I seen where both you and David were in rrealistate so thought maybe you guys knew each other. And with the big deer maybe hunted the same areas.
Dave "Longspur77" Seth "graybarkhunter" and I are all from the madison, jackson area. We all hunt in Issaquena, Hinds, Madison, and Yazoo counties mainly.
There is one other gent down here in southwest MS that I know who is a member of this forum, but he hunts mostly in Oklahoma.
I'm in Jackson county and hunt mainly on some private land I have access to but it's like the dead sea at times! I need to be more adventurous and find some better areas to hunt.
Hey guys I'm down in Purvis and hunt mostly at Tallahala WMA and up on Panther Swamp NWR....mostly with Malcolm Parker...we'll be at the Pre-Spring Fling at Tannehill in Feb....
Steve here, from Hurley Ms. Hope to get to meet you at the Compton Spring Fling. Maybe we could plan a time for us all to get together and plan something for a Spring or Summer shoot. See you at Tannehill.
Steve,
Glad your on board and sorry I missed meeting you at Mr. Bobby's during Thanksgiving, i'm sure we'll meet soon.
Well my season has been tough so far (Still trying), I have managed to miss 3 does and had a long drought of not seeing anything from mid October till the last week in December. The below Rattle Snake has been it for me so far, but he was a B&C class :saywhat:

That snake needs to be shoulder mounted. The head on that thing still amazes me
John, the eastern diamondbacks on the Dahomey NWR here in the Delta are as large as the one you killed. However, it is not legal to kill them on this NWR. The cottonmouths and timber rattlers are just as thick but do not have the length. When hunting I normally wear both snake boots and snake chaps for safety reasons. You guys have taken some tremendous deer this year and I congratulate all of you. I don't deer hunt, instead I prefer to hunt hogs.
I hunt private land close to the ole home front here in central Mississippi. I will be attending the spring fling in Alabama. Their are several of us from Attala county that normally attend the Howard Hill shoot and the spring fling. We need to try and meet up
That rattlesnake is quite the trophy himself! and good eating as well. What are you going to make out of his hide?
I have never encountered a live Eastern that is a huge snake. Cottonmouths are everywhere few timbers, and copperheads but never an Eastern. Are you gonna skin bow with him or just alchohol and glycerin to tan him.
Guys,
I'm ashame to tell you (as I caught a lot of grief over not keeping the hide on this one), but I was not in a position to save the hide due to rising temps and I was away from home on a day hunt.
you coulda made a pair of boots, skinned 3 bows, made a purse , hat band, belt, a quiver hood, and still had some left over to do another bow :D .. na sorry you werent able to salvage him
Travis, you need to do the Spring Fling. I may take the tipi. You can kick a few rocks out of the way and curl up by the fire.
Sorry, double post.
If I can possibly make it I will. When are the dates again?
22-24 of next month.
Hoping Joebuck will post up pic's of his super six point.
I'll have to make up a banner for our camp to let you guys know where me and the other guys are located during the Spring Fling, maybe a name tag that reads "Hi i'm South Ms Bowhunter, glad to meet you" :biglaugh:
******This is a trad bowhunting only furum*******
Looks good in Mississippi! Great pics!

Looks like you Southern gentlemen don't need to come North for the big boys anymore!
Anybody close to greenwood?
Joey,
What were the specific's on that fine deer? Weight wise and did you score him?
That is a heck of a six!
he probably was an eight early early on but bbrow tines broke/rubbed smooth. 240# 6.5 years old...115"...i just saw he was 18" or wider and threw up and shot never noticed the missing brow tines.. fell out laughing when i walked up to it.. hit deer back in liver angling up in the chest through lung and heart aorta...ran 20 yards and piled up....sometimes i get lucky
Looks like its gonna be a good weekend This weekend.
Yep, I hope I can score this weekend. Been at all year and lost a big one. Still hurts me. But keep trying.
I need to change where I'm hunting in MS it looks like, but I want to stay far away from that rattle snake. :nono:
Guys I have a picture of of a Bigger RS that a young man in Green County killed a couple days after mine. Not a trad kill so won't post pic's here but he claims it was 8 and a half foot long! It looks like it could of swallowed mine :scared:
Taking my longbow for the remainder. Got a shot yesterday but missed. Was really exciting though!!!
Blood was spilt this morning with my KB.
Will,
Looks like the trend continues for you! Will look for the story after church.
There was plenty of horn to hold onto when we drug him out this a.m. .....

Looking good Will! That great Tom you were able to get a shot off, that's been the story this season for me 3 shots 3 misses :saywhat:
Boho actually that is a goldtip trad that I stripped the writing off of (I do it to all my carbons) and a one stringer custom wrap with a simmons treeshark and 50gr insert.
About 35 yards from the shot there he was.
