Title: Looking For Your Thoughts
Post by: huskyarcher on January 08, 2013, 06:48:00 PM
Ok guys, its a simple one, but I need your input.

I am heading down to chase hogs in a couple of weeks. I have shot daily for weeks now and feel extremely confident i can put in in the "pocket", but what im sending to that pocket is in question.

Right now im shooting 2016 Gamegetters, cut to 28" with razor sharp 135gr 2blade Escalites up front. Im shooting a Omega Longbow thats 43# at 28" (its more like 45#)

I am wondering if i need a heavier projectile. Should i get a stiffer arrow with more weight up front? Or stick with these?

I have searched this, and i know if i put it in the right spot it wont matter, but will a little tweak make THAT big a difference?

Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Sounds like the razor sharp broadhead and you being confident to put it where it needs to go is all you need. I wouldn't mess with anything.

If you can put it where you want to , then shoot them !

I wouldn't change anything now... Keep the practice up with what you have trust in... Good Luck Hunting!

Your setup will do just fine. Your most important thing to take with you is your confidence. Your equipment is not the weak point.

I would be willing to bet that the 2016's will work just fine. If you are shooting them well, I would not change a thing.

I would take the head off and fill the arrow with a mixture of salt and pepper. put the head back on and drill some little holes in the arrow so when you kill the pigger all you have to do is start a mesquite fire and have a barberque.

God bless you and have fun. your setup is fine

accurate arrow is good.
accurate heavy foc arrow is better.

I would use the heaviest arrow I can shoot accuratly. If you have time before you go hunting I would play with a heavier arrow. If you don't have the time stick with what you have. The most important things are accuracy and sharpness. But if you can add heavy to that combo I think your good.
