As the title says, please show me your arrows with real turkey feathers.I also would appreciate it if you told me, where you bought them and if you are satisfied with them. Do they really last longer???
Pics allowed.... :bigsmyl:

These are some I did a while back and they are lasting pretty good. The feathers are from Magnus.
Well that didn't work
I don't have pics but got mine here:

Very satisfied.
Locally killed and some from Kansas easterns, magnus ground. They seem tougher to me. This is all I will shoot unless I run out before turkey season.

Hey Matt, if you ever find any extra arrows like that laying around not being used, feel free to send them north, lol. Those are some beauty's! Hope to have a few wings to send your way this spring. Mike
Magnus has excellent feathers and does a superb job cutting fletchings. You can't go wrong with him in my opinion

Is that little bit of "fluff" (lol) at the end of the arrow act like a mini flu flu and stabilize the arrow?
sorry for semi-jacking the thread.
All these arrows look amazing.
I shot a doe with this arrow and turkey feathers. I killed the turkey not 200 yards from where i shot her

Those are fur tracers. Used to aid in seeing the arrow better.
All of these are either real turkey or goose feathers. I prefer the natural fletching because I believe they do hold up longer and they also seem to repel moisture better than a commercially available fletching. All fletching (and the arrows) are by Magnus.

I got mine straight from the turkey and a buddy ground them for me. I try to have at least one in my quiver in case the weather gets wet, they hold up way better in the rain, haven't shot them enough to vouch for the durability thing, but this one was getting a little raggedy looking after bumping around in my quiver for a few months and still worked flawlessly:)

I'm drooling over these arrows! Some real works of art!
Turkey feathers can be procured from a lot of sources. Friends that hunt turkeys can save them for you or you can run ads in local papers to obtain them. Once you have them there are numerous tutorials here and elsewhere showing you how to process them into fletching.
The easiest way to get them is to buy them from Tradgang sponsors such as Magnus.
Check game laws in your state. Some states prohibit the trade or sale of wild turkey parts.

The contents of the arrow barrel changes over time but it always has lots of barred wild turkey feathers in it. There's no better arrow fletching on earth in my opinion. The only downfall I can find is they aren't very visible in flight.
As for durability. Turkeys are tough and so are their feathers.

Thank you Trap! The funny thing is that I was trying for a shade like your blue ones pictured with the Bear tape-on quiver on page 2...
I was flip flopping between green or orange feathers/cresting on that gray set that I made and after seeing your turkey arrows I realize that I should've gone with orange instead of green, the colors look great together!
Great looking arrows Tree Killer!
Everyone has posted some really nice arrows.

Besides a fletching jig...just a saw of some variety to cut the shaft to length ... a way to taper the nock and point, whether it's a hand tool or disk sander with a block...a cresting machine if you want something special ... time and patience.
Making them purty doesn't make them fly any truer, so it's up to one's imagination how fancy your arrows are in your quiver.

Here's some more arrows fletched with Matt Gundock (aka Magnus) prepared turkey feathers. Crown and crest work from David Lawson (aka Snag) from Wilderness Custom Arrows.

Perfect answer, TK, esp the time and patience part. Attention to detail makes for good arrows.

Haha,
nice to see this thread I started myself is still alive.... Thanks to all your answers I became a believer in the mean time and ordered some Wild Turkey feathers from Matt. He is a great guy and his feathers are just perfect. I combined them with GT traditionals and did the "artwork" myself:

Magnus delivers some real nice feathers. Apparently they are pretty durable because I'm still on my first order. Seem to be a little more water resistant, but that's not a scientific observation.

I've got a couple bread sacks full of LW and RW turkey feathers, if someone is interested. They are full length feathers right off the turkeys. I have kept them in the freezer to keep any bugs off them.
Pay the postage and maybe a little extra for me and I will send them. I would have to check, but would guess there is probably at least 30+ of each wing.
:notworthy: :notworthy:
Sorry Gentlemen - I have sold the turkey feathers to one of the emails I received. I am sure that I will have quite a few more feathers after this spring season.
