Let me tell ya this having a bow made has been a great experience made easy by Kirk over at Big Foot bows

I started this journey last August wanting one of his bows but not quite knowing what wood combo's I wanted.
Kirk sent me lots of photos with ideas. I chose the Maple Burl.

Over all he kept me informed on the progress and did a great job explaining it.

Now for the down side. I think I must have gotten 4 hours of sleep last night.

SO EXCITED

There are very few times in life when something pictured in my mind comes out exactly right.
This bow is one of them

Looks like two copies of the same picture to me;

Some of the others in that gallery are fantastic but I'm not sure if they are all of this bow or not.

I know
I 'm a idiot with computers though. Just have an iPad and haven't figured out how to get the pictures from photo bucket to this forum
Title: Re: Reflections of Sasquatch
Post by: sticksnstones on January 07, 2013, 12:18:00 PM
It takes a little getting used too. The easiest thing for me is to do this:
1 - open the pictures in other tabs or windows
2 - click Full Reply Form
3 - type in any message I want above the picture
4 - copy the URL out of the window with the picture showing
5 - click Image button
6 - hold Control and hit the letter v
7 - click OK
8 - hit Preview Post

Repeat 3 thru 8 for additional pictures. May be a little more challenging on an iPad.

On the clock here at work or I'd try to help more. There is a how-to section for it here on TG too.

Looked at your gallery.
BEAUTIFUL!

This is the first gloss squatch I've seen.
Looks like a VERY nice finish.

With Maple Burl I couldn't see not going with the high gloss. There's just to much beautiful patterns lost with the matte finish.

I spent a lot of time wondering about the glair with hunting. I finally decided I spend 95% of my time practicing and shooting 3D if glair was a problem I could always make camouflaged sleeves    (http://

Have checked google maps. Lets see Kirks place to mine about a 13 hour drive.......

Having Kirk build you a bow in an interactive proposition at best. He will send you lots of pictures before he starts just for ideas.

The process changes as he gets the artistic juices flowing.

There is no putting in an order and he calls when it's done . I guarantee you'll get a call something like this

Ya no Bro I was thinking if we add a little of ect.

The man is a true artesian  always pushing for perfection. Not only in looks but in proformance

That's what I'm hopping for.

I don't know about you guys but the process of a bow coming to life is interesting as hell.
I never realized the amount of work and design that goes into these things (http://i1286.photobucket.com/albums/a618/ridgetopranch/Sasquatch%20bow/aac03af1e4290e1d165d863a6b23e7a5_zps54c2a17c.jpg)

Well i kinda got tied up doing a bunch of testing on some bows. Sorry i couldn't have jumped in sooner to help you with the photos.....But... it looks like brutha Thom jumped in to help you out.

I gotta say one thing... i took 84 pictures of this bow with two different light settings and these high gloss bows are tough to shoot with a camera and do the bow any justice..   :banghead:

I've still got to do some uploading to the bucket here myself but here she is with the limbs mounted and strung for the first time...

Kirk,

Back in the day...  :)   I learned to either shoot light through cloudy plastic to diffuse it, or bounce it off of while cardboard...  you'll never get good gloss pics head on with light.

But you probably know that!

That riser is stunning to say the least... and I second the notion that you might just love the looks, till you start to shoot it and dial in the arrows...then your focus will surely change from looks to the performance, dead in hand, and how it harnesses ALL the stored energy driving it into the arrow flight and not your body!

Mine did!

Kirk has it all going on!

It seems every time we get a thread going like this someone asks me how i piy these belly ramp caps on the riser. So i thought I'd show you a clamping jig here and how they go together....

Btw... This is Black walnut on the belly ramp caps on this one, with black glass accents.

Trusting the USPS for a actual delivery date to miss work...  :scared:

I'd rather get an emergency call to come HOME from work! LOL

Rest assured that Kirk will have put a BUNCH of arrows thru the bow before he ships it... he's anal about making sure he has a good brace for the new user and ironed out any kinks...

Very sexy lines on those limb curves...

Good he's using targets now...I remember not too long ago he shot his chordless drill!

That is perfection right there in those pics!

I'd not want to hunt with a high gloss bow, but danged but that sure makes things "jump".

I don't think I've ever seen a bow of Kirk's I didn't think was attractive!!

and your tales, Denis, of anxious moments just make me remember my "willies" when awaiting mine back in August I think it was...

I never thought I would allow myself to invest in a "looker" bow, because what I wanted was a workhorse.

With Kirk, I got BOTH! And it was custom fit to a grip issue I've had for YEARS and never been able to figure out or have addressed.

You will NOT be disappointed! Let the good times roll!

Here is one more tease for you before she gets there Denis.  I wasn't a real big fan of Myrtle wood prior to this build... But this stuff takes a total change under clear glass and has some of the wildest grain I've ever seen.

The deep gloss finish just adds to the depth of it too...

Denis,

I feel for you!

But you at least make it all a humorous read to follow along... good luck with your intermittent "flu" symptoms... Hope your boss doesn't find this site!    :bigsmyl:

AS for the USPS tracker...forgedabaoudit! You'll get an email the day after it's delivered!

Good delivery but wretched tracking system!

Andy,
That's gonna be one sweet bow ya got going on there.
Hey when Kirk gets into his artsy fartsy mode and the creative juices are flowing. He'll call ya with ideas.

Best advise. Tell him go for it. You'll get twice the bow you imagine in your head.
The man is a true artist in that shop

Great minds must run in the same vein, Denis. I just sent Kirk an email about the grip on my bow that kinda summed up what you just wrote. Based on conversations and emails with him, just about everything but the fact that it will be a TD longbow has been changed...

The one thing he wouldn't do, though, is build me a 45# bow that will shoot an 850 grain arrow over 180 fps...what a slacker!  :readit:    :D

The web sight says out for delivery

I wonder if the postal service has any rules about a fella  stalking the delivery driver in his pickup to get the package early. I know I can track them from the post office. If I loose the trail I can always put one of my Jack Russels on it. Those Little burgers don't give up
Hahahaha

I swear that they brought my bow by mule train. Everyone in NY, NC, etc had their bows way before me!

They seem to know who needs it BAAAD a nd just toy with us.

It's worth the wait, Denis!

Andy, you read my post...he nailed the grip like he was in my head! oh, btw, that hunk of wood made me sick with envy and I didn't think that was possible after I got my bow! But he just keeps uppin the anti!

Sometimes, I just hate that Yosemite Sam mustached evil conniver!    :saywhat:

I carried mine all season and never even saw a doe in range!   :(  [/QB]
Well, Doc...I had 5 different bucks between 20 and 50 yards from me last Saturday morning and still didn't get a shot! One was a big 12 pointer that was at least 23" wide...and tall. Maybe if I'd had a different bow, they would have come closer???  :D

I drool every time I look at the pics of that B&W ebony. We looked for quite awhile finding it.

Andy

OK...Andy, you are OUT OF THE WILL!!!

I didn't see 5 legal bucks (spikes ain't legal in PA or 4pts) all season long...

And you come on here and talk a bout 5 being too far away! Baawwaaahhhh... breaking my heart bucko!

     :saywhat:    :jumper:    :deadhorse:

Where is that boy??? OH, Denis...   :dunno:

Either his wife couldn't take his behavior anymore and applied black iron skillet attitude adjustment to his noggin, or he is out shooting...or got locked up stalking the mail-mam...(he did say he had a lady carrier the other day, right?)

I'll have to check back right before bedtime so's I can say a prayer for him...

Please, please don't come back here and tell me that ebony draws in bucks... cause I just cannot afford another bow no how, no way, nuh-uh! Just had to take early retirement and go on Medicare in a couple months...so, dude..please don't post Ebony draws bucks...

My only salvation will be to rationalize it's just them whacked out OKie bucks...          :saywhat:      :jumper:      :deadhorse:
Kirk told me B&W ebony draws bucks.....NOT!  :D

The place I'm hunting is 160 acres, and I can only hunt half of it...but it hasn't been hunted for the last 9 years. I've had deer all over me, but have been hunting from the ground. I must stink! Going to go give 'em another run in the morning. Season expires on the 15th...then will begin to decide where to put tree stand(s) next year and hunt with the camera my dear bride got me for Christmas. It probably shoots further than a bow!

I have come to the conclusion that the sandhill muleys I've been chasing aroung in SE NM for the 15 years previous to this year are WAAAAY easier to hunt than these OK whitetails!

Ok, killed enough time...someone call and make sure Denis didn't have a coronary when he held his new prize for the first time! Hope he's alright.

The wind blew and the _ _ _ _ flew!

Andy, that is a great tale and yarn ya spun there!

Don't go edumcating all them bucks or they'll move to the 1/2 of the property you can't hunt!

Now, Denis, you better be shooting at LEAST a 10 pt with that glossy ole bow or I'm going to have to remind you of that big ole whopper you penned above!!!    :readit:    :saywhat:    :biglaugh:

Now wouldn't that be icing on the cake?! Shoot a big buck with that sucker after going and robin hooding a spendy shaft! Dang!

Glad it came and you're enjoying the fruits of Kirk's labor!
