...it has taken me a little while to build this, but here is a 1" thick maple butcher block cutting board i made from scrap left over from a job, that is 24" wide x 17 1/2" tall. I carved the 30th anniversary logo in it, then filled the cavity with food safe epoxy (Corian glue) and just sanded it down to reveal the treasure. This is the only one I will make, and it will only be available at our Winter Banquet. Yes, the same banquet the National Arrow contest will be held.
Started with this logo

Carved it in this cutting board I made and smeared on the resin...

Ended up with this, now all that is left is to soak it in mineral oil...

The finished product, just a few more coats of mineral oil, and it will be ready for the auction table... ($5 bill is there to show the size)

February 9th. Get your tickets early, because there is a special drawing for those who buy before the deadline, and I have a pretty good feeling it will be sold to capacity, just like every year, and when the tickets are gone, so is your opportunity to attend.
Mike, you really know how to make some special items. That looks amazing.
We are humbled by your talent sir !!! Even more humbling is you made it for someone else.... :readit:
Mike you have so much talent it amazes me. Exceptional work as usual.
That is sweet! Am I going to have to flip that over when I use it so I don't mess up the logo?

Or give me another idea to carve on the flip side...IF your the lucky bidder (I'm thinking PBS logo).
If I am the lucky bidder...
Dude, I paid something like $250 for ONE of your arrows. I think I can be the lucky bidder if I reallly want to :D
We will at least raise a bunch of money for the MLA
Just got the 1st coat of mineral oil on it. It's hard to see this creation go, but it is well worth it in the end for an organization (MLA) that has enriched not only my life, but my families as well.
$5 bill is there just to show a size reference.
