Title: McAlester hunt map?
Post by: razorsharptokill on August 19, 2007, 09:23:00 PM
While in Iraq several members emailed me with info about the McAlester AAP hunt. When I left I lost all that info. I have no access to that email info now.

I find google earth much easier to use than the digital map available on the Oklahoma wildlife department website. I need the hunt map they issue at  AAP to show me around the Hominy area. Can anyone send it to me please?

All the guidance and suggestions have been purged from my memory along with memory of that wasteland I guess. If you guys sent suggestions about areas to concentrate my focus on, please send it again. Thanks.

Jim: I just sent the map to the only email address I had. It was your military email. pm me any other email and I'll resend if needed.

Here's another question. When I checked the status of my hunt selection online, it gave me the option for an additional "Special deer hunt archery- any sex res" (optional) for another $20.00. The total for the hunt is $65.00. I see no way to NOT pay for the "optional" hunt. Doesn't seem very "optional".

I don't plan on taking a doe with bucks like the AAP produces potentially walking under my stand.

Any suggestions? I guess I'll call the wildlife dept.

They explain that when you check in. I think you can buy that on site before the hunt. You are buying an extra tag because any deer taken at McAlester does not count towards your archery total. I'll be interested to hear what you find out from the wildlife department because I only paid $25 and I thought they told me it was because I had a lifetime license and my permit is for two deer, one antlered.

If they have the quality pass incentive in effect you might reconsider taking a doe. It allows you to come the same weekend the following year without going thru the draw process. The quality pass was not in effect last year.

Ok the answer is.. maybe... The quality pass incentive is done at the check in.. maybe... maybe not. I went ahead and bought the "optional" tag.

For us out of staters that optional tag is $200. They have always given us the option to buy that tag after we fill the first tag. Course for $20 I might just buy it up front myself.
