I just ordered a full zipper vest in Timber Ghost (Extra Heavy Weight). I usually wear a large shirt but went with XL because I want to use as a mid level layer.
I experimented with wool outer wear in the past (cheaper stuff) and I always loved the texture but hated it in the wind. I now use wool in my layering and that has been best for me. I have never tried a vest as a layer but it makes sense to keep the core warm.
Anyhow, I like the look of these vests and I was wondering how many here like to layer with a vest or have some Asbell wool products.
I did do some searches and found many did like the pullover jackets so that is why I went ahead. I just never saw much on the vests and benefits of layering with them.

layering using vests is almost a no brainer for bow hunters. We need to keep our torso warm, but not as much for our arms. We need to keep the bulk down on our arms. . . so. . wear vests !
I like my Asbell wool dress (I call mine a dress), it is a custom order pull over that is 9" longer than normal and split on the sides for most of that 9". I love it.

I like wool as a baselayer over a silk under shirt. other then that I dont like wool. As for a wool vest I have one but never use it. My arms always gets cold.
I got their wind blocker vest to wear under my Timberghost. I won't hunt without it ever again!!!!
I really like layering with wool and a wool vest. You dont get all bound up in the arms.I dont yet have an Asbell yet,but is high on my 2013 shopping list.Really reasonably priced too.
I love vests. I sweat a lot, everyone in my family does, and vests really help me to keep warm but keep my pits ventilated so they don't sweat and stink profusely. Right now my only Asbell product is a Mackinaw with a half vest thing but I'm planning on adding a couple vests, bow sock, and possibly a haversack soon.
I like vests and would love to get one of the heavy weight Asbell vests one day.
Bill...I wear, on a cold day, a wool shirt, the Asbell Windblocker vest, and a zip up or pullover. If is EXTREMELY cold, as in the teens or lower with some wind, I add a second wool vest.
Hey Bill
When you get it let us know how true to size they run.
They are some good lookin vests. I might have to get one.
Whats everyones favorite pattern?
I might have a hard time picking one.

I am going to order a vest or zip up jacket before next season. Maybe both.
The main reason I am going wit Asbell is the quality, the great reviews from this site and the fair pricing.
I am pretty frugal and will not pay an over inflated price for a name or a brand.
Lol! We think alike! I also called Teresa today and ordered the Timberghost Zippered Jacket in XL! I also ordered a grey tweed vest. I have never owned any outdoors type wool clothing until this Christmas. My wife bought me a wool shirt/jac and I wore the next day at the farm. Wool is awesome! I know it has a few draw backs but it kept me warmer than anything I've ever owned. I foresee more of my money headed to the Asbell's in the near future.
I agree about the price. Seems pretty good to me.
