Well, the last few sits have been pretty cold. I have had to bundle up pretty good to stave off the below zero wind chills... (http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r603/DonEggleston/lateseason.jpg) But I kept getting close, just no shots. Haven't seen a buck in a few weeks, but plenty of does. Tonight, my son wanted to come with, so I bundled him up in everything I could and let him sit in a stand about thirty yards downhill from me. About an hour of light left and I kept getting the "my feet are cold, I think I have hypothermia" texts..LOL!! I told him to hang in there for me as it was just about to get good. He then sent another text that he had two does coming his way. I began to watch and could see the mother/yearling team heading his way. They then came to the top of the ridge and mamma caught him moving and just stared! She finally relaxed after the yearling moved ahead without her. The yearling was broadside at fifteen yards in an opening and mamma was coming right behind..... until she made me. I hadn't moved a muscle, she just looked straight up at me and turned and ran. I had a few seconds before the yearling joined her, so I picked a spot and let fly! (http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r603/DonEggleston/arrow2.jpg) I hugged the back of the shoulder blade a little close, which prevented the arrow from passing through. It buried to the fletchings though and she dropped it right where it lay in the photo! Ten yards after she paused, then dropped. Another quick kill with the Thunderstick. (http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r603/DonEggleston/lateseasondoe.jpg) This doe is actually a little bigger/thicker than the other one I just posted on, but the photo makes it look smaller. Never-the-less, that is one nice 8 and two yearling does so far this season and I am officially tagged out. Not a bad season and a great way to start the new year. Happy New Year everyone! Keep em sharp and leave big trails! :archer2:

Congrats!
Good job.
Nice Job! I just love hunting in the snow and cold no matter how miserable it cna get. There's nothing like a blood trail in the snow to get me excited.
I added a few layers of merino wool on my feet and I've been doing pretty well with a hot pack under my toes (on top of the socks). I can sit for 3 hours or so in 15*F weather with a windchill and be OK.
Great work, you earn them all in these temps.
nice job , congrats  :clapper:
I love snow pics! Way to go sir!
Great!!! Way to go :campfire:
Well done!
Congrats!!!
Thanks guys! Josh- i havent tried the merino wool but do well with a couple layers of polypro under sweats and cabelas late season coveralls with a predator fleece vest. Have stayed very warm (with hand warmers too). I have found with poly and coveralls i aint too bulked up to shoot well. Nothin like seeing crimson stained snow!! Now the long wait for October 2013. :banghead:
Great Year!
A great start to the new year!
