Ok, a little back story.... I was able to pick up a new, used Big river 59 Replica take down bow here on the classifieds. Thank you again Pat. This Bow is awesome as is all of John's Bows I have shot.
Anyone who knows John, Know's he doesn't make many take-downs and people who can talk him into it have to be really liked by him. From what I have heard there were not many bows like mine out there.
Fast forward a few weeks. May Dad aka Chuck Janssen on here, sees my bow and see's Brian aka Big River's bow here and stops at John's shop. It seems the two of them always hit it off when they meet. My father had brought some cash and an idea of trying to order a take down recurve like mine but more like Brian's. he had also brought some woods and buffalo horns to have john use.
Well after chatting it up My dad was unsuccessful at talking John into a Take down bow. This was solely Due to John already having one made exactly the way my dad wanted. I am a little jealous but have no reason to be. I am quite happy for him.
He is already making plans to take this bow on his annual Alaskan hunting pilgrimage. This year will be black bear.

I will let you all know how it shoots a little later today. Have to finish wrapping the meat and let the sun warm the out side up a bit. it is a minus 15 this morning. Happy New Year. the cold weather zapped the batteries on the trail cam in the front also. Only does, then it died, but I know the big boy had been back from the tracks.
Fresh batteries for tonight.

Sorry Charlie!! Between work, moving snow and spending the last weekend of hunting at the farm, then to Green Bay to watch the Packers win, has not been much time to be on the PC. Well the bow shoots like a dream.Smooth and quiet and powerful. At 15 yards it is driving the new arrows you made me almost a foot into the big foam target.
The one thing I am not sure of is some of the arrows are going into the target at a angle. Mostley from the right. But the arrows are hitting their mark. I have some fletching to fix now. Guess I need to practice more. Hope to get out tonight for the last night of bow deer hunting.
:knothead: :archer2:
well at least I ended the season on a high note of seeing 7 deer tonight. First 4 were 2 doe and yearlings, but to far out for a shot. Next I looked down and the cutest little yearling standing there. Did not have the heart to draw back. The doe came a little further out.I drew back on her, but a branch and a pine bow covered her vitals. I held till she followed the yearling. I sat for a little while longer, till darknes was settling in and I made the decision to call it. As I was packing things up I looked to my left and there stood a big doe at 10 yards. I reached for my arrow and it was not there, I went to get another from the quiver and I guess it was enough comotion for the doe to leave me hanging on the side of the tree wondering how I screwed up my last night with stick and string!! But weather was great for being January in WI.and I saw deer, another plus. So the night was not all bad. Now the wait for next year to redeem myself!!
