I am shooting a Hoyt Buffalo which pulls 57# at my 28" draw. I am shooting a Beeman MFX Classic cut to 29" with a 400 spine and 100 grain brass inserts with 100 grain tips. They shoot great but I would like to shoot a bigger broadhead. So right now I have a total of 200 grains up front. If I switched to a 340 spine, how much weight up front do you think I would need to get the same tune? Thanks for the help guys.
Toby
Being fairly new to trad bow tuning since I switched to wheel bows in 1976 I am sure that there are a lot of guys on here who can help you more than me. :)
That said, if you want to go to a physically bigger (heavier) broad head, why not just remove the 100 grain brass inserts from your current arrows and shoot a heavier head? Whatever head you chose, just match it with the weight insert you need to get back to that 200 grain front load you currently have?
I just built some 340 spine arrows for my 50@29" setup. I left them 31" long and put 190 grain heads up front. In my limited shooting with this new setup, it seems like it is working OK. I may have to back up to 400 spine arrows but hopefully not, as I like the weight the 340`s give me.
Hopefully this helps you...... :)

With your current arrow and insert you should be able to go to a 200 gr. head without weakening too much.
I don't think there is a set formula for this, to many variables.
Pick the broadhead weight you want and start cutting down a full length 340 until she tunes.
I went from a 400 to a 340 once. Big jump. I had to go with 300gr up front to make the 340 work.
