I have been adding trimmer string to my carbon arrows to get the weight up. However I am having a problem with the nocks blowing off (sometimes). I prefer not gluing the nocks into the shaft. Does anyone have a solution to this problem ?
You can stuff the shaft with some yarn perhaps or squeeze a small dollop of silicone a little further in. Also, if you want even more weight, try 4mm plastic coated wire clothesline, they sell it at Wally World like $4 for 100ft.
Filling the shaft with anything is a waste of time. get a heavy head your nocks will not blow out wasting energy.
Thats why I quit using any weight tubes or adding anything inside the arrow.I just used a stiffer carbon and adding more front end weight.I did have some good luck using the old GT lock nocks, the ones with the small screw you could tighten the nock with a small allen wrench. They would come out on the hard hits, but they have been discontinued awhile ago.
tried the heavy head to much weight up front arrows showed weak. trying not to spend money on another dozen arrows.
Goto Lancaster archery you can buy one arrow at a time if you want to find the correct arrow for your setup, and then buy 6 and make sure you have it right before you buy anymore.

Best reply. We all did it years ago and it was toooo much trouble.
Trade your shafts for stiffer shafts.
Thanks for the advice and the information

Craig,
Got to agree with the stiffer arrows & heavy heads but,I've had pretty good luck folding over the last 2 inches of trimmer line before pushing it in.
I've taken 8x32 screws and cut them and weighed them on a grain scale to the weight in grains that I needed if the head was not quite the right weight. This way you can get any weight head you want without changing anything. I had to use lock tight on the threads and you may have to run a tap down through the insert, but not with all of them.
