Title: Question for the classified trad bow gurus
Post by: SoonerBowhunter on December 27, 2012, 09:10:00 PM
Ready to sell my first bow on the classifieds (so I can start saving for my first custom bow) but have no idea where to start on price. If a few guys with more experience could send me a PM to help me out with a value for the bow I'd appreciate it.

The bow is a Jerry Hill Wildcat II. 68" and 60# @ 28".

Thanks in advance for the help.

This is a thread I started on the same subject.

I think you have to have a 100 post before you can post a bow for sale on the classifieds, unless that changed.

The 100 post rule is no longer.

I am no expert but I have bought and sold quite a few bows here over the years.  Do a search for Jerry Hill bows or similar bows to see if you can find what others are pricing them at. If your price is too high you will know, because there will be no activity. Most bows, if priced fairly seem to sell pretty fast. You can always go back and edit your post to lower the price if necessary, although it is best to price it where you feel it will sell quickly to begin with. Good luck on your sell and your traditional journey. You will probably know more than you should about buying and selling soon, it is
addictive.

wish I could help you out but I have no experience with Hill style bows. I know tons here do though. Good luck with your new custom bow.

One other thing that may help is to continue what you are already doing... jump in on threads that interest you and keep your post count rising.  The 100 post minimum requirement to buy/sell on the classifieds is no longer enforced, but it is one of the factors I watch to protect myself as a consumer when I don't "know" someone from this site.

I go back and see what the person seems like and what their interest in trad archery seems to be from their past posts to get a feel for what they are "about."  If they have 12 posts, and every one is about something they have listed for sale, a red flag goes up for me.

The one and only time I violated my rule of doing this, I was one of a dozen people caught up in a scam.  As a group, and with assistance from Terry and Rob, many of us got our merchandise or money, but it was a painful lesson.  Never again, for me.

Great to have you on the Gang!  Dive in, become familiar with us and let us get to know you... and best wishes on your sale!

I do what both Hawkeye and MCNSC do.  Also, if you "know" some folks here you might ask them about possible buyers.
