Title: Clean Hunting clothes?
Post by: Gen273 on December 27, 2012, 06:26:00 PM
I was just washing some hunting clothes and used my normal baking soda and borax for soap. Anyway, it got me wondering, what do you guys wash your hunting clothes in? And, is there any thing wrong with using baking soda and borax?

Usually sport wash or whatever is on clearance in the hunting section.

Just baking soda, unless there's a lot of old blood to wash out--then I'll use some Arm&Hammer unscented.

Usually use Sport Wash for cottons or synthetics, takes blood out pretty good. I find sales now and then and stock up.

I use any of the brands that have the "Free and Clear" label. I like the "Arm and Hammer" brand the best.

I use unscented laundry soap for cotton and synthetics, Woolite for wool, but I wash my wool very sparingly.  Mostly just air it out.  I wash wool items every couple of years.

Sport Wash for me. And I made my wife switch to the Free & Clear regular detergent for our everyday laundry and also to the Free & Clear dryer sheets so there is no scent left over from everyday washing when I wash my hunting clothes.

borax and baking soda and then I store them in totes mixed with dry oak leaves,,  in the back of my truck I use a contractors trash bag with my jackets, sweaters, outer clothes and throw as much oak leaves as possible in with those too then spin the bag shut and flip it over onto the opening and leave it like that which leaves a nice cover smell on the clothes which will match the area.

for regular day wear along with towels, underwear, longjohns even work clothes I'll wash with the stuff they sell which has no smell or bighteners, just in case for those afterwork or unplanned hunts..

I figure in our buisness we should avoid the regular detergents all together all year,,,but I guess its easier to wash your own clothes which I prefer.. I don't want my wife washing nothing of mine.
