The Christmas holidays have come and gone. The stress of being certain places at certain times and bringing certain gifts has subsided. Now, for me at least, it is time to kick back a little. There is still a few days left in this deer season and I believe I'll take advantage of them. It is still a little cold out but I think Ben can handle it. He is shooting a new bow this fall (not the one in this picture). It is a 60" Howard Hill Bobcat made for him by Craig. Bamboo limbs and bacote riser. He'll take along some arrows made by for him by Rob Green. I've placed some blunts on them so he can bust a few bunny rabbits.
Y'all take care and I hope your next few days will be as enjoyable as I know mine will be, whether I get my deer or not.

Well, Ben and I are back. While we did not pack out any meat, we did have a great time. Friday night was a little cold for a 9 year old. 18 degrees and camping out called for a camp fire.

Saturday morning was clear and cold, but we managed to get in some blind time and then did a little scouting. Ben found and checked out these tracks. We did see two nice does from a distance of about 60 yards.

We did jump a few rabbits and Ben got off this shot just as one ducked into some tall weeds.

Afterward we checked out "On Frozen Pond" where we knew hogs hung out. Found a few wallows that were already frozen over.

All in all, we had a good time. Just being together for the weekend made up for the cold weather and lack of game photos.
