Any opinions or thoughts on the Wild Game IR, 3 megapixel (or 4) scouting camera?
I'm looking for a scouting camera that gives decent results without breaking the bank.
Thanks,
Tony
Don't know anything about the one mentioned.
But I do know that my Primos Truth Cam 35 I got for $80.00 at wally World didn't break the bank and it's still going strong on the original batteries I put in it back in September. It's also IR and takes great pics.
I have some of the same concerns about scouting cameras ; have had a couple different ones and none made over one season . What will last ?
Ive had about all brands. I like Covert cams the best and there customer service is second to none ! I really like the MP6 cam, its very small and easy to conceal !
I also have 2 of the Primos Truth Cam 35s. Have used them two seasons now with no issues, both still hold a charge for a long time and take good pictures. I don't think the megapixels are real high (I forget the exact value) but the images are large and clear enough to see what I need to see. IR works well. Very easy to setup.
I've recently come to enjoy its 3-burst mode (I think it can also do 5 or 10 burst?) where it takes 3 images in quick succession; has helped me better id certain deer. Has a number of other features, like video capture, that I've not used yet.
In contrast, other people on my lease use other cameras and many of them have had numerous issues (namely Wild Game Innovations models), especially with battery life.
I vote for getting whichever the cheapest one is that you think will work for your first one... assuming your just using it to get an idea of the animals in the area and or times they are passing through you do not need the highest quality pictures $ can buy.
Personally I like the little bushnell cams though but they are around $160. I like them because they are so small and easy to throw a couple in a pack. also small = harder for someone with sticky fingers to see.
I had the cheaper wild game ir as my second camera. lasted one season then quit working. Of course the warranty had expired. I have read lots of reviews - it seems that almost all of them can have problems. My original cuddy is still working after four years.
I've tried about all of them and I really like my Wildgame cameras. I have an IR 4 and it is flawless and the battery life is just awesome.
good luck with whatever you buy
Covert
After having 3 cheaper cams I now have a Covert MP6 (coverts were highly recommended here on Tradgang). I'm extremely happy with the camera and it's already outlasted my other camera's. I could have two coverts now for what I paid for the 3 cheaper ones. Lesson learned in this department.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input.
Ive got the 8 megapixle Wildgame(takes 4 C batteries).Cost $79.on sale.I have had it out for over a full year and going strong.Great pics,no problems.Only one I have had so far.
My friend has an expensive one and bought an inexpensive Tasco. He got big buck pics he sent me and they were as good as his expensive one.Spoke volumes to me.They are a fun tool!
