hey guys i just bought some new axis black shafts and they have a factory cap wrap on them which i want to remove.
any tricks?
i don't want them cause i'll be installing the inserts then tuning by cutting from the nock end. doing this, with my likey arrow length my feathers will be half on them and half off them. they might even be on the writing.
Clint,
If I'm thinking about the same ones, they are like a thin plastic wrap. With mine, I sliced a thin strip through just the wrap and peeled them off. The ones I had weren't real sticky and were easy to clean.
thanks ryan. piece of pie!
just plastic like you said and the residue wipe off with acetone.
i was hoping it was going to be something simple.
thought i'd ask here before rushing in and risking wrecking a new shaft.
cheers
yep fingernail and peel it off in a spiral.. easy job..
I just took a heat gun and hit it really lightly and they peeled right off.
Clint I used a lighter and just run it up the seam and it pretty much came off all by itself.
I use a Zip Strip, then goo gone, then denatured alcohol. The Zip Strip works like a dream and works better once it gets a little dull.
why would easton put this poorly made wrap on there??????
I just use a knife and slide it up the arrow. Takes one second. Boom Done.
The wrap is very thick and easy to cut.
I use boiling hot water, let the shaft soak for a few minutes, then peel off with finger nail.
Then I clean the shaft with acetone or Goof Off
