Title: solo woodsman quiver
Post by: Slickhead on December 13, 2012, 05:45:00 PM
anyone ever make one?
One arrow quiver for stalking.
Looking for ideas
I know skookum sells one (had it, little big)
I know 3R sells a uni stalker (little pricey for it with shipping)
thought of trying to make one

Black Widow makes the "Ace in the Hole".  Nice single arrow quiver!

Yep.  I have one on eack of my hunting bows.  One has a Skookum Single I bought in the Chris Surtees Family auction here.  Another has a Jack Bowers Solo Stalker "hood" and the lower lim has 1/2 of a Selway PiggyBacker laced on at the fade.  The others I just copied the broadhead sheath idea with the 1/2 PiggyBacker (it was a Dean Torges idea).

They work great.

fujimo, cut a piggybacker in half and you have two.

I also saw where a hole was drilled through the thick part between the arrow holders. One side put over the limb at the fade then a lace of some kind was tied around the limb holding it in place.

Black Widow Ace in the Hole and they sell the shaft end seperately. I bought some extras to mount a judo point on the out side of my Catts side quiver. Heavy duty double sided tape at hardware store works when original stickum tape gets weak.

Just like Bretto said.  Cut a PiggyBacker in half between the arrow "jaws" and drill a 1/8" hole through about 1/4 up from where it will contact the bow.  I get fancy and use a wood rasp to shape the rubber to the limb's contour if it is rounded.  I tie mine on with tarred marline, but a shoelace would work.  A leather wang works as well.  The less slippery the better.

Selway Archery makes the piggy backers.  Think 3-Rivers sells them as well.

Another view of how he built the hood. Each broadhead has it's own hood.
