Title: Broadhead question
Post by: captain caveman on December 10, 2012, 01:37:00 PM
I am considering changing to single bevel 2 blade broadhead.  My 3 blade heads just never feel sharp think it is due to blade angle.  I like tuff head but not sure about glue on head with carbon arrows.  Hate to incorporate a potential for failure due to glue debonding or not gluing the head on straight.   Also like vpa 250 but like the shape of the tuff head better.  I shoot 52 lb black widow pch and hunt whitetails and turkeys primarily.  Will probably stick with my snuffers for turkeys.  Any thoughts on these two heads or suggestions of another head I haven't mentioned would be appreciated.

Look into red feather archery razor head. Haven't tried them. But seem nice and priced right.

Get some vpa 3 blade, file, and crock stick.  When you start thinking about those two blades...go lay down and take a nap!

In the "how to" section there is a nice sharpening how to done by Charlie Lamb. Not to be a wise a$$, but if ya cant get a 3 blade sharp with a bastard file, you will not get a 2 blade sharp either.Check out the sharpening how to and follow his direction and you will get results. Its all about the amount of pressure you use at different times during the sharpening process.

A glue on broad head especially one like the tuffhead is very easy to align.  If you clean the inside and the adpter they are not a weak link.  I have killed a few deer this year with a tuffhead. Shooting a axis fmj, 225 grain tuffhead with a 75 grain adpter. Total arrow weight 645. Out of a longbow that's about 50# at my 27" draw. None have went more then 50 yds and the arrows on the other side of the deer
