Ok so the bow showed up yesterday in the rain. I ran outside to fling a dozen arrows and was impressed right away. Had to wait till today for some pics and more shootin. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman008.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman007.jpg)
I started at 27 yards and shot this group (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman001.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman002.jpg)
I then moved up to 18 yards and tried again , man I was impressed , smooth and quiet. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman004.jpg) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/drewsbow/hitman006.jpg)
Here I am stretching her out some that is a beman mfx full length (31") didI mention smooth ?
Thanks Dave for giving me the chance to shoot this one , sweet bow :wavey:
Drew, that is one sweet looking bow.
Good thing those arrows are 31" long. Kind of running out of arrow at your draw.
Ken : I had to wait for my wife to take the pic so I let up a little which is what I do anyways as I shoot . Great bow
Cool stuff Drew! Thanks for sharing.
Great stuff brother!
Nice bend in the limbs! :)
F-Manny
Drew,
Looks like you're a dead-eye...with all that dead rubber at your range that you kilt!!!
I've become more fascinated with static tips...I hear on here that if they're balanced well, they are pretty darned efficient and eliminate all that noise I always associated with recurves!
Man, you pull that gorgeous thing back a ways! Nice shooting Buddy!
Nice bow. Good shooting.
Allan
Drew, great to hear that your enjoying the bow and see that your shooting it well.
Doc Nock, that is true about the static limbs in that two well balanced limbs make a great shooting static bow. I am not a recurve shooter at all but since building these statics, I have come to really like them.
Thanks and good shooting,
Dave
Nice shoot'n Drew ... looks like a new target might be on your Christmas list. I like the pic with you at full draw, really shows off the lines of that bow.
I agree with you Ken and looks like a winner to me.....
Thanks for all the compliments guys , this really is a sweet shooting bow . The bow just makes it easy to shoot well with a great grip and smooth draw. The static tips do add some performance for sure as well as being stable and quiet . Dave has a good design here as well as a good eye for fit and finish with beautifull wood combos .
Just think how it's going to shoot when you pull it all the way back....
Ron , she really curves in all the right places :goldtooth:
Awsome looking bow Dave. I can tell it shoots great just by looking at it. A word of warning though bro. I did this and after I built and shot my first Static Recurve I was an addict at the first shot. It gets so that is all you want to do. I still build and love longbows but man I dream about my statics; Its obsessive and sooooooooooooooo much fun.
God bless and Merry Christmas, Steve
Love those statics!
Steve
I have to agree with you about the static as I am not a recurve shooter by no means. This static I have been really getting used to and is a fun new project. This bow really shoots similiar to the longbows I make.
Thanks and good shooting,
Dave
Drew
Did you send the bow out to the next in line on the list?
Thanks
Dave
Dave Its going out first thing in the morning . Thanks so much for letting me shoot such a sweet bow. Drew
Drew
What was your overall impressions, performance, shootability and comparisons to anything that you shoot? I am really interested in getting a non bias review and thoughts on these limbs. Is it something you would want to shoot all the time or just tinker with? Be honest and lets have it.... lol
Thanks
Dave
Dave for my personal taste I don't usually shoot three piece , the extra weight on the end of my arm is hard on my shoulder .
This bow is very comfortable to shoot no hand shock very smooth and quiet . I love the grip , fits the hand nicely and very repeetable hand placement.
Fit and finish is as good as I have seen on many bows and way better than others. The design is very good and the limbs unfold to help with performance and smoothness.
I should have asked about shooting this bow with my long draw but figured if it couldn't take it we would find out right quick. It handled it with no trouble at all .
Overall It was a pleasure to shoot and performance was very good. I think this bow has more cast than some of my regular shooters. I shoot very heavy arrows ( 800 gr ) for such a low poundage bow but it handled them well.
Thanks again Dave
That is what I am looking for and possibly down the way a one piece in the midst. It has been on my mind awhile. I am starting a new job soon and this will be the weekend filler fun.
Thanks for the review and looking forward to the new adventures that await.
Thanks and good shooting,
Dave
Bow went out to S. brantosborn this morning . Thanks again Dave
Drew
Glad to hear its off to the next person in line. Thanks for all the feedback and look forward to next inlines review.
Good shooting,
Dave
Very nice looking bow.
Well the bow should be at it's next adventure soon. Looking forward to your thoughts and impressions.
Good shooting,
Dave
Nice!
I am interested to see if Brant has received the bow yet? I called and left a message so we should hear something soon.
Good shooting,
Dave
Dave : I got a pm from him stating he has the bow. Drew
Thanks Drew and we are excited about hearing his feedback on the bow.
Good shooting
:campfire: :dunno: Great shooting static, what town is it at for Christmas. Santa look out for your reindeer !!
I now have it here in the metropolis area of Hunter Louisiana. It made the trip safely and Ol Rudolph and his pals are safe. We are raised to hold some things sacred here. Thatgoes for the Easter Bunny too. All else are fair game.
If shooting tomorrow goes as wel as today it will see some time in the woods. I'll keep you all up to date. Thanks to Dave for the opportunity. So Far I will same its beautifull, smooth and quiet with my 3 finger undershooting style. Keeping arrows close together in the target.
Dave, has anyone taken game with this new design yet?
Brant
Commanche static recurve by curtis byrd. Someone sell me. A lefty. What agreat shooting bow. The 8th dwarf had one for a while curtis byrd was a master bowyer.
Brant
As of now I don't think anyone has taken a critter with it yet!!!!
So by all means take it to the woods and see what lurks in front of the arrow.
Good shooting
I can't wait to try this bow out. Who's next after Brant?
I just recieved this bow yesterday! I haven't been able to shoot it much yet, I shot about 10 arrows through it. First thing that caught my eye on the bow was the limbs, they look great! there's no handshock that I noticed at the shot and it's very quiet. It's about 8 lbs lighter than I'm use too so it feels very smooth. Hope to shoot it some more in the next couple of days!
Good to hear logan that the bow arrived safely. Looking forward to your review.
Good shooting
Dave, the first thing that stood out when I saw the pics was how you shaped the riser at the ends. Nothing turns me away from a take down like bulky end risers. Nice work!
Thanks for the comments Possum and my thoughts on the ends are the same. It is unique I think and different.
Good shooting
Dave, Looks like a winner. I will have to try one of these the next time your out to the club.
I will be at the club most Sundays running the Arctic Blast so if you come out to shoot bring one along.
Regards.
Bill
Bill
I even have one in your weight class that you might like. I will have to do that and looking forward to the winter shoots
Dave
Beautiful bow!!!!! I think I am on that list, can't wait. Nice shooting...
I think you are coming up soon and looking forward to the reviews.
Good shooting
We must be living in the golden age of archery. There are so many phenomenal bowyers out there. How does one decide........

Nice bow Drew, I like the fact that your draw is so long you need two arm guards :bigsmyl:
For all that have shot the pass around static-
Do you have any final thoughts on the bows performance, shootability and just plain un-bias opinion of it? I know most people keeping up with this post are wanting to see what you guys think about these pass-around bows and myself included.
Good shooting
Dave
Dave : I think its a great shooting bow, very smooth , no hand shock and points well. I think the cast and performance is right up there with all of the best bows I have shot. The only down side for me is the physical weight , now if this was a one or two piece bow I would have to be thinking about specs. Drew
I have the bow right now and its a pleasure to shoot. This bow points very well for me, the only thing I dislike about this bow is the top part of the riser. I shot it at a traditional league last friday and most of the guys there agreed about the top part of the riser. Everyone there thought it was a great shooter and were impressed by how queit it is. The grip fits very well and the finish is top shelf. If this bow was 7-10lbs heavier it would be hard to ship it out! I was wondering and had some other guys ask about the price on this model of bow. Thanks!
The price on this static model starts at $725 with black glass and upgrade to clear glass and veneers is $75. Type of woods would be adjusted in price as well. I think that compared to what is out there it's a great starting price. I will be looking into a one piece in the future Drew,so I will keep you posted.
Hope this helps and if there are any questions feel free to email or call me.
Good shooting
The bow was an all around success for me. Looked great, shot great, riser fit "me" very well. I did not have any negatives that jumped out at me other than the weight was a bit light for all my arrows and I had to work at getting the right arrow combo too long. That would not happen if I ordered " my' weight I'm sure. I might like to try a 60" instead of the 62 ... I have owned LOTS of bows and this was right up there with any of them. At the time I tried this one I was shooting/hunting with a Blacktail Elite VL at 50# and this bow shot every bit as well and a bit quieter.
That's awesome guys and appreciate the feedback. I am always looking to get some feedback from others across the board. I have great feedback from our local shooters here. I have adjusted over the years in fit and performance but that is why I like the pass around to get a more rounded and un-bias opinion from afar.
Thanks for the input and good shooting,
Dave
The more I shoot this bow the more I like it! Very quiet and hit's were I look, I finally got a chance to shoot it outside and I was sending arrow after arrow through the soft spot in my 3d deer target!
I am glad you are having success with the bow Logan. I am pleased on the design and the way it shoots. That was a year in the making with fine tuning and plenty of design redo's. I won't make it unless I like the way it shoots. I am actually shooting a 47# 62" AMO static for the circuit this winter. I am having great success with it so far and increased my first shoot from last year by 34 points. So say the least I am enjoying it the more I shoot it too...
Good shooting,
Dave
Well I do believe the bow is off to the next guy in line and that is M60gunner. The person ahead I didn't have the address and he will be next if you are following.
Good shooting,
Dave
He should have it anytime I would assume.
Good shooting,
dave
