Anyone help with the character/use/ qualities of these bows?
Which one should I buy?
Thanks!
If you are talking Thunderstick Archery, then the MOAB is the bow. Fast as anything and quiet!

Love my MOABs, both of them! Great shooting bows!
Awesome bows made by a good man. My personal preferance is for the Thunderstick III, but the MOAB certainly is popular for good reason.
MOAB is my favorite.
Fast, quiet dead in hand. Just ask him to cut the rizer closest to center that he can.
I have a 56" mag and I love it.

Hi Legolas, this was a special edition bow from Dwyer longbows. It is an awesome bow, in every way! Off your topic sorry, just thought you might like it considering your handle. :)
No offence to the MOAB shooters but I had the MOAB ordered to my specs and sold it the very next day on here after getting it from Jim and I've shot a few other other Moabs and they are nice but not his best,,
you HAVE to shoot the Thunderstick 3 before deciding ,, it has a much better grip that fits your hand better but its also much more stable maybe because of the reverse lamination but most of the people who go on about the Moab have not even shot Jims Thunderstick 3 which is the bow that pretty much put him on the map way before the Moab when he changed the name to Thunderstick archery from Traditional archery supply,, save a hundred bucks by buying a smoother drawing bow thats just as fast if not faster and much more stable.
when I discovered the Thunderstick 3 I was at denton hill and that year the T3 was the best shooting bow out of everything there taking me into the 3rd round of the eagle eye,, my group alone bought 5 of them on the spot after trying them..
Still regret selling my Mag
What Tajue17 says! The Thunderstick III was the first custom Longbow I ever purchased back in the late 90s. Still have it and have hunted the last couple years with it again. I love the way she shoots, smooth, quick, and quiet! I thought the Moab was not nearly as smooth and a little more harsh on the shot. You need to try both for sure!
MOAB lover here!
I've only shot one Thunderstick, ever, and it's the one I bought used last year, ThunderstickII. Absolutely love it and my go to bow. It's the only shorter longbow I have ever shot that shot this good. It's 58# and on the scales hits 58 like clockwork but everyone who draws it tells me that no way is it 58#. It's that smooth.
Awbowman,, I found a sweet 60# mag in a local store forsale I pm'd ya with the contact!
Another vote for the MOAB... 60" seems to be the "Magic" length for that design... at least it is for me... Love the way that bow shoots!
Legolas,
I've shot Mag's, MOAB's and III's. All have their plus points. But overall, I liked the III and the 62" MOAB the best. If you hunt on the ground and don't care about a longer bow, the 66" III was what I liked best.
I see you're in Ohio. Do you ever get to west Michigan for anything? Work or family?
I ask because Bob's Gun and Tackle is about 30 minutes south of Grand Rapids and they usually have 5-6 brand new Thundersticks in stock and a few used ones. You can shoot one and buy one there.

Otherwise, Jim Reynolds is typically at Comptons in the summer, which isn't that far from you. He usually has a solid 12-15 bows there.
The T Mag was amazing but like a fool I sold it.
Miss my Mag
Thunderstick III, T-Mag and lastly the Ramhorn if you can find one! MOAB was nice but did not "trip" my trigger and I tried a couple of them.
Mojostick, thanks for the info!
Love the MOAB and agree the 60" is the best length I have tried for the design. I had a 62" and it was not the same bow. My 60" has no hand shock, very quiet and very fast. But, you have to put a good string on them I have found. The string that comes with them makes them loud and have more vibe. A nice SBD or equal really tames them down. I have lost track of how many people have commented on how fast and quiet my bow is.
Didn't care for the Mag's I shot as much as the MOAB but never spent a lot of time with one to tune and change out strings. Can't see where it would be any better in the end other than maybe give me a 2" shorter bow for my draw length.
I had a 66" TS III. Loved the bow, but a little too light draw and long for me to travel with and hunt the way I hunt. Was fun to shoot targets with and stump shoot. Not as fast at the MOAB from what I could tell using an equivalent arrow GPP. Traded it for a 62" TS III same weight as my MOAB. Didn't care for it as well as the 66" or the MOAB. A 64" could be the best balance for the TS III for me, but I have not found one to shoot. If I did, It would have to be a TD because I just don't care for a one piece over 62" for travelling.
I would pick based on the length of bow you like or want.
I've got the TS III...its a great bow..
MOAB.
One of these days I will get around to asking Jim to make me a duplicate of the one I have. None of my other bows make it out of the house anymore.
I have 2 Moab's and 2 TS III. I have a 30" draw and prefer the 64"TS III a little better. Jim is a great guy to work with also.
I have five, no seven of Jim's bows. You don't want a MOAB because you'll spend all your time dragging dead game and hardly any time hunting. The mag and the 3 are OK I guess, but you'll still have to stay up late cleaning deer and hogs. Fortunately he quit making those dang recurves, so you won't have to keep telling folks where you got that bow...
And, he's a well known curmudgeon with nothing but kindness and world renowned customer service and relations to recommend him.
Legolas,
Obviously, call the store if heading that way. They always had them in stock. It's been 6 months or so since I stopped in. I assume they still have some in stock. It's a really nice store. One of the few left that sells real black powder, in case you shoot a flintlock.
