Being a broadhead junkie I like to try out different heads from time to time. After reading some posts on the Simmons broadheads I placed an order for some Tree Sharks. Well they arrived today and all I can say is Oh My God. I have never seen a broadhead so big. If I can get them to fly well out of my set-up the deer population is in BIG trouble.
tree sharks fly great , good luck
Same here, I'm waiting for half a dozen from Big Jims. The wounds in the post about broadhead performance were unreal.
great broad heads.
I will have to try the Tree Sharks. I have not worked up the nerve yet, but I do not know why. I have shot the rest of the Simmons and every one that I have ever put on the end of a shaft has has had perfect flight. I have settled on the Interceptor for some time now and absolutely could not be happier with a broadhead. Excellent flight and incredible blood trails, even if they are a little short, LOL. Lots of opinions on broadheads. But I can say I have never shot one that I was more in love with.
I have some tree and land sharks, and they both look absolutely deadly, now if I can only get to take a shot at a deer lol.
Just got my treesharks in yesterday!
They are massive, can't wait to put through a deer!!!
chris <><
They will fly awesome. They have much better flight characteristics than heads a fraction of their size. Oh yeah and they leave massive holes too!
Tree Sharks perform as advertised and fly great. Just make sure you get them shaving sharp, there are resourses available to help you learn how to do that.
I ordered a half dozen a couple days ago. Working up an arrow to stick them on. Can't wait for turkey season!
I love Tree Sharks, they fly great easy to sharpen (paper wheel) and leave the best blood trails I have ever seen, every time.
I put one of the Tree Sharks on an arrow this morning and headed out back to see how they flew. It bogles my mind how something so big can fly so great. Now to get them sharp!! Anyone use the Steel Master sharpener that Simmons sells. I found one among some of my old stuff and was wondering if I should give it a try or one of the methods in the How-To section here on TG.
The Steel Master is the best for me, I've been using one for 12 years.
I sharpen mine with a chainsaw file and the wheelie. Mostly just the wheelie after the initial sharpening.
I need an evil smile option... I guess this will have to do. :bigsmyl:
It is a neat design for sure. Those wound pics on the other thread prove them out too.I think the way they are shaped with the wide part flaring out on the rear instead oh straight back like a zwicky delta may be why they fly good with being so wide. Now if they made a 3 blade like that it would really be deadly!Or maybe a removable bleeder blade but as wide as they are they may not need anything extra to help stop arrow shaft pinch or to keep fat from closeing up the wound on fatty animals like bear and hogs. They look like they would need a heavy poundage bow to penetrate good but i havnt heard anyone say anything about that being a problem.
I just got some also. Can't wait to test them out on game.
I just got some Tiger Sharks. I went with them because they are the same weight at my Deltas, so I shouldn't have to retune to use them. They are VERY impressive. I used a jewel stick and finished with an EZE-Lap M diamond hone that I carry on my belt. It works great on knives and seems to do the trick on Sharks as well.
My understanding from the research I did before ordering these is that Simmons broadheads work very well on lower poundage bows, with several reports of complete passthroughs with low 40s bows. I know I can blow through deer with my Kanati and Delta combo, so I don't see any reason to believe the Sharks won't do as well in terms of penetration.
The huge holes and short, gory blood trails are what enticed me to give them a try. The price is also reasonable as well.
They used to make a Tree Shark w/bleeders. It was just for screw in.
AMB, PM sent.
Anyone use the method that landshark posted on the How-To forum? It's my understanding that the current Simmons heads only require the second half of Chris' process ( File & redi-edge)
YES SIR
A buddy just showed up with some Centaur Big Game heads. The style and size of both of those makes are just plain SCARY.
Fred,
Were they the ones on sale at 3 river's? I just saw quite a few different style Simmons on sale there and couldn't believe the sale price they had on the Huntmore 360...Not sure if they sold all thier stock yet but they went from $219.99 to $172.00 something..Anybody getting themselves their own Christmas presents better go check out the sale on those heads and I mean quick.
Keefer, I bought mine directly from Dave at Simmons. They are like flying hatchets..LOL
Love the Sharks! Wish I hadn't waited so long to try them. We have the Treesharks in stock as well, you can ignore the back order on the web page we are reloaded site to be updated Monday.
Also now have some of the screw ins that you all begged for, we'll be getting them up ASAP in the meantime just e-mail us if we can help.
Simmons broadheads are awesome!

That is correct. Dave puts a great factory bevel on them now, so the re-grind is no longer necessary. I wish I could go in and edit that tutorial, but since it got moved to the How To section, it's locked down. Just in case you want to check out the video, here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtNBQoVlz80&list=UUozlzf1CCoULb4bT0lQra8Q&index=14
Thanks Chris. After watching your video again I placed an order for the 3-in-1 file and the arrow guide.
I looked at some pics of those Tree Sharks, daaaangg! Those are awesome, I love how the shaft fits inside. Definitely my next broadheads...
Awesome head for sure
Here is another method. I cut and pasted it from maybe even this site. I have not tried this but it looks interesting.

My experience is the same, they fly great and sharpen well also. I use a half round file and leather strop. Hair popping sharp with little work at all. I have taken 3 deer this fall with the 165 Tree Shark and absolutely love them! I back mine with a 100 grain woody weight.

Billy that looked really simple...now if I had a KME sharpener
Thats a fine looking broadhead Bowhunterga.I am thinking they may not fit in my little leathertop bear quiver to well though.I think i am going to have to get some tree sharks and give them a try ,i can always use them in a back quiver.
Just a note..before you cut your arrow shafts the lengths may need to be different when using glue on or screw on Tree Sharks. According to how close you like to draw the head to the face of the riser.

That's a good point I didn't think about but I'm ok in that area. The other thing I didn't think about was my quiver. I just got mine today and I have the EFA 3 arrow minis and getting them in there was a little bit of a challenge.
