Heading down to Texas in February to hunt hogs with Doc. I've been a few times, and every time I try to take less gear along. Half of what I take never seems to make it out of the duffle anyway.
I thought it might be interesting to see what other people find they can't do without on a hog hunt. My must have's are;
1. Bow n' Arras
2. Skinning knife
3. Stool or seat of some kind
4. Cell phone
4. Camelback
5. Jerky or snack food
6. Camo clothing
7. Chuck Taylors
8. Extra socks
9. First aid kit
10. Lighter
11. Space blanket or small plastic tarp
12. snakebite kit
13. sierra cup
Toilet paper, besides it's intended use, use it to mark a blood trail.
Flash light. You never know when that blood trail get's a bit long.
BBQ sauce!
This year I'm driving so I'm adding stuff.
Post hole digger.
Tree stand
Pop up blind
5 hour energy's for the drive and so I can stay awake til 2 or 3 in the morning waiting for the big pigs
Red light.
String tracker
CJ, I hope we have some success this year. Febuary can't get here soon enough.
Agreed David. I've got a warm up Florida pig hunt in January to get things rolling before Texas. Lifes short, make the most of it.

A good knife sharpener. When those hogs have mud in their hair like they usually do it will dull a knife in a hurry.Dont know about Texas but here in south bama in the river bottoms we have skeeters so big they sit on the tree's and 'bark', so take some skeeter spray!
Oh,,dont forget your camera,,we want pictures!
Kinda looks like "SAM E STEPHENS" is the Texas hawg Guru.

I will pack more than one good knife and a good sharpener.
Hey, David. Are you doing Pig Gig or something else this year?
Wind powder
Wind powder
Wind powder
Some more wind powder
Something else this year Colburn.
Ill make sure I take plenty of wind powder.
Maybe we can make it out again in the future. I'm thinking of some new hunts.
All of the above, plus; snake boots, video camera, thermacell.
(for my Fl. hunts)
Leave the snakebite kit[useless and may cause more damage] and wear snake protection.
Pack tweezers and needles for removing spiny things. :)
No way I'll go without a couple of bottles of "Smoke in a Bottle" to check the wind currents. I always bring camo gloves anda face mask too.
I believe from reading this forum on a regular basis, "Bisch" is the Texas hog expert and has killed many over the last several years. I would contact him for advise.
I took snake protection the first time. I spent so much time crawling around and under things chasing pigs that I was as likely to get bit on the eyebrow as anywhere snake boots or chaps would cover. Thus the snakebite kit. This will be my fifth trip to hunt pigs in Texas, and so far I haven't seen a single snake while hunting.
Flashlight, absolutely! I carry two. So used to having them, I didn't even list them. Ditto for the sharpeners. I carry a dog bone ceramic and a coarse diamond hone everywhere.
Tweezers and a needle are a great idea! Coulda used those last time...
This will be my first hunting trip wearing glasses, so I guess I should pack a strap for them and a cleaning cloth...
Couple knives and a sharpener. Water, and power bars. Good camo and sharp/heavy broadheads from a quick bow.
Glenn's deer handle to drag out the beast.
Camera please
