That's right,,, BUT,,, when does a selfbow man get to shoot and hunt with a Bob Lee Signature takedown longbow?
By gosh I get to this year!!!
Mickey may get shook up by this after his recent thread about going back to high tech, but I am going to use some glass this year.
My newest bestest buddy Brent aka "hormoan" has been too nice to me. (Although,, it may be a conspiracy to convert us selfbow men!)Look at what Brent sent me for my very own.

It was well known that for the past few months I have been wanting to try a good glass longbow and our good friend Brent took it upon himself to send me his Bob Lee Signature bow. WOW,,,, I say! Where else could you find such empathy for your fellow man than your good friends on the Trad Gang?
This beautiful bow is 52# @28" and smokes the POC's. Here is my first few shots on video!

I thought the osage shavings was a good contrast for the pics... look at this riser,,, SWEET!
I understand Brent made his first trad kill with this bow. Can you tell us more about the bow Brent? Where did you come across it? What brace hieght did you use? What animals were taken with the bow? What kind of woods in it? Please fill in some more info!
This is like Christmas in August!!!!
I can not say enough to hormoan for his gracious gift... I am forever in his debt and many others here not mentioned!
Believe me,,, I intend to update this thread very soon with a big ole whitetail!!!!

Think about it.."Fiberglasstree" just doesn't sound right.
Holy moly
WOW,, Buddy that there is a nice bow,,Looks like your gettin it dialed in too,, Great of ya Brent for helpin a fella out,,J
I hope he see this and responds with the stories.
Joe you got what you deserve! Hormoan you are one of a kind! Nice bow my friend.<><
You deserve it Joe with all the bows you give the kids. Good on you Brent for helping a brother out.
Congrats Joe!!
Good on you Brent!!
OK lets get this record straight :readit: I was only a cog in the wheel. There truly is some one else to blame for your falling off the osage wagon :readit: Will the real responceably party step forward, is what I'm wondering. Well he like's to lurk around in the shadows, so maybe not. But he does alot to promote our passion! Just as you do Mr. Weed\\OsageTree :D you getting so many kids started and shooting. They are the blood of our sport, osage and so many other fine woods. And our children, and most of all anyones children. So for that we all thank you, you do get a gold star (osage if thats OK!) :D
Questions you have,
I can tell you I purchased this bow used from a Worden off our traditional bow site. And it did help me harvest my first traditional bow kill. Other than small game, it got to go on the Texas Sweat hunt 07

What the heck is happening around here? :help:
Joe, you deserve it buddy and good on ya Brent. Could not have found a more deserving person to give the bow to.

Nice bow. I would be careful putting that hi tech bow in them shavings they might rub off on each other! :bigsmyl:
Sure Mickey Sure :D Its your story, you already wrote it :bigsmyl:
A man is judged by his character and you have shown us yours. Good job Brent..
See what ya started, Mickey! :smileystooges: Starting to wander who I'm going to be looking up to this hunting season?
Come on guys'...I NEED SOME INSPIRATION HERE!!

Just make yourself happy!
hormoan :jumper:
Well looks like I'll be gettin' a good price on osage now :readit: Enjoy it Joe!
Good show Brent...Doc
You guys are just one or two steps away from metal risers, olympic limbs and carbon arrows. :biglaugh:
I love all kinds of bows and might shoot anything on any given day.So many great bows is what makes this sport so much fun.
Now Micky don't take Brent to seriously, he only shoots those glass bows because he hasn't learned how to make one from osage. I read your other thread earlier this afternoon and it insprired me to spend the afternoon in the workshop and finish a couple of projects. Just look at the results, a set of twins.
Now I must admit to being tempted by one of Brent's Sheepeater's (The bow on top of the ladder),
(http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y91/Slivershooter/Boa008.jpg)
but your thread showed me the light and got me focused in the CORRECT direction. I am willing to bet that Osagetree will overcome the glitter and shine of the glass after killing a couple of critters and again find his osage.
Walt Francis
ooooooh good looking TWINS. What man doesn't dream about that :bigsmyl:
I was offered some carbon arrows for the bow yesterday evening. I did turn them down! Nothing wrong with carbon, I just can't give up all the wood.
You guy's need to know something that will help you understand my madness.
Over the years I have taken many, many whitetail deer with 12 different weapons or variations there of. 13 ways if you want to count the one hit with the truck!
The takedown glass longbow that hormoan sent will add another notch to the post,,, so to speak.
I will never give up on the beautiful simplicity of the selfbow. Once you've built and harvested game with one, I don't think you will ever completely give up the love for them!
The list;
12 Methods of White-tailed deer harvests
Center fire Rifle – SKS 7.62 x39
Pump shotgun – Remington Wing Master, 12 gauge
Bolt action shotgun – Marlin 412, 12 gauge
Semi-automatic pistol – Desert Eagle, 14" barrel, .44 magnum

Smith/Wesson model 29, w/12" barrel, .44 magnum
Muzzleloader rifle – TC Hawken, .45 caliber
Crossbow – PSE, Starflight
Compound bows – with sights, aluminum arrows, Bear, PSE, Montaineer
Compound bow – with out sights, Bear, Whitetail II, POC wooden arrows &
Fiberglass Recurve bow – Bear, glass powered Kodiak Magnum, POC wooden arrows
Osage Orange Self bow "Yellow Belly Black Snake"– By J. Weed, a.k.a. "Osagetree", POC wooden arrows, Traditional 2 Blade broadhead
Osage Orange Self bow "Two Snakes"– By J. Weed, a.k.a. "Osagetree", All home made Rivercane arrows, Flint tip, Cattail arrow quiver, arm guard & three finger shooting glove
You got a stringer going there Osagetree!!! And Walt you are partly correct, I'm envious of you talented craftsman. And dang it we have so many of you here to be envious of!!! :readit: Walt can ya make one of those close to center cut right side sight window? :D PS those are sweet!
 Brent
There is a lot to be said about a nice set of twins no doubt. I guess we are going to have to get out the garlic and holy water and drive these evil fiberglass demons out of osagetree. Just kidding. I may have to use some glass I made this year myself
Joe,
I understand the need for variey in bows, I have a wall full of glass ones and always have one on order. A guy has to decorate the walls real nice looking things.
Brent,
They might be a little stout for you at 58 and 60 pounds at 28". With your long arms I would probably have to make one around 64" rather 60".
Mick,
I forgot to mention they are both sporting Big Horn sheep tip overlays, though the tips of the right bow still needs a little shaping.
Walt
I can't keep one bow happy and you guys are thinking about twins???
.....or was that women?
Well bows or women, they both have nice curves!!
***Disclaimer*****
Not intended as an insult to our female members!!!
Geeze Walt, I thought you had a rasp? :D For us wimpy dudes  But you are correct on the lenght issue!
Brent
Great lookin bow Osagetree!
O'Tree, I'll be happy to take those ol nasty trashwood logs off your hands. I'll even haul em off for free. ;)
Btw You got a great lookin bow there, and even better friends. :notworthy:
just got back from shooting a 3d range with joe.The bow is sharp looking. The generous people on here amaze me.
I need more practice. It's a bad thing when somone who has only had a bow for 1 day beats you.We kept score just for fun. Had a great time will have to practie up for the next time.
Wow Joe some list right there! Hey what about rock and slingshot? LOL! Glad to see your about 100% for huntin' season Bud!
Scott is not telling the whole story about the range today. His 6 year old Son Easton beat us both. Of course he had a osage selfbow and we were shooting glass.
That 3D stuff can be addicting, be careful :D Looks like you are getting them hooked awful young  I have a blast watching the kids at Comptons. Man when they get on the ariel target range. You can't get'em off it. Great shooting Scott!
Brent
Wow Joe, thats great. I'll be expecting to see a slunger laying by that Jeep when I drive by this fall. By the way where did you guys shoot? I see they have a moving deer. I would like to try one.
David, it is on Bladen Rd. just off Rt.7 up just past Crown City. It is at a Marina and you'de not even know it was there, 30 target course. Maybe you can go with us next time and show us how to shoot?
And if you ever spot me out there,,, you'de better stop and say,,,, Hey!
I know where that is, I've shot there before. I might go so you guys can get a good laugh when you see me shoot. I'm going to try to make the Jackson shoot.
Scott will be there, but I don't think I'll go. Too many things going at once right now!
I keep trying to talk osagetree into going to the state shoot but haven't had any success yet. after my performance yesterday I'm not going to shoot at the state shoot ,but will go look thru the vendors and let easton shoot the range.
Congrats Joe. Way to Go Brent :notworthy:
This is all new to me. I went to the ATAR and loved it. I can't shoot well but maybe they will have a fun range. Going through the vendors tents is what I do best.
Dave, just going and having fun is what its about. It also will challenge you to be a better shooter. No matter at what level you are, seems there is always a nemisis. I have so much fun shooting with my brothers of the bow. It matters not if I win, just that I was there. Besides I don't shoot to win, only to have fun. OK OK those good shooters challenge me. I admit it, but they make me a better shooter for it. :campfire: The key is have fun!
Brent
PS I see a few that beat them selves up over not shooting better. I like that military moto
Be all you can be.
But above all have fun.
