can someone explain to me what low wrist grip is supposed to do for you. does it move the arrow closer to your eye? or what
A rather straight or flat grip shape and a way of holding the bow. It does not move the arrow closer to the eye. It spreads the weight of the bow across the entire palm, as opposed to a high wrist, where almost all the weight of the bow presses on the web between the thumb and forefinger. Also, because the wrist is "broken" or down, it tends to naturally contribute to a little bend in the bow arm, which most think is a good thing
IMO, low wrist enables one to handle more draw weight comfortably compared to high wrist.
A low wrist is also easier with the Hill style swing draw, which allows the bow to get up to position with less shoulder motion and less twisting of the joints. Then, if one allows the arm to take that natural bend and keep the neck and shoulders from jamming up at full draw, every part of the body used while drawing the bow stays in a healthier neutral range of motion. Topping out ones range of motion can, over time, cause injury.
I've heard it is an ergonomically stronger grip that keeps the bones in the arm and shoulder lined up better.
