Ok, so I look at the classifieds maybe five, ten times daily. I don't think I have a problem :)
I tell you it's hard to see bows in my weight range I want to buy but shouldn't. Adding pretty pictures to the classifieds makes my problem worst.
It's bitter sweet when the thread finally says "SOLD". Sometimes I hope for a quick sale then I don't have to think about it anymore.....and why do I keep opening it up looking at it? !!! Sometimes I'm too late in a bow I would have bought and it gets sold. It's a horrible horrible cycle.
Ya....I have issues with the classifieds :)
I know what you mean. I just recently started looking through them, and have bought two. I've seen some I wanted and am somewhat relieved when I see the sold because I probably would have bought them to.
Joe -
There is a cure for the problem you are having. It is called "The Bottomless Checkbook". Get your financial adviser to write a prescription for one, then get it filled as soon as possible.
After that, your only worry is being too late.....
:bigsmyl:
Hopefully you don't end up with the trading bug....it can be worse....
I think ive owned about 10 different trad bows in the last year and have 5 right now with one on the way and a trade pending...
I havent found a cure for it but if my wife finds out i imagine she will!
Hello,My name is Jimmy and I am a bowaholic! You are not alone ,my friend.Im suppose to be thinning the herd, not buying(according to wifey of course.)
There are worse addictions. That's what I tell my wife anyway......

:biglaugh: :biglaugh: That's what I tell my wife also......... as I sit here waiting for a used bow to come in the mail.
Ric O'Shay, believe me if I had a bottomless checkbook, I wouldn't be late. My problem is denting the bottom of my check book too frequently. Eventually, it's going to tear.
Just received the result of the latest dent today :)
My wife rolls her eyes when the Posties and delivery guys call me by my first name!
I've sold four bows this year and bought two. There's a Hill for sale now that is tempting me seriously.
And for you middle aged guys with wives, just tell them what my Mom used to say about my Dad's gun buying habits, "It's cheaper than Corvettes and blondes."
"It's cheaper than Corvettes and blondes."
But I just found a '99 Vette with less than 1,200 miles......Hmmm. A new T/D Hill to next to my 300 year old yew Union Jack or a '99 Vette to go next to my Harley. Decisions, decisions, decisions....
Same boat here- cant stop looking......
is there a bowaholics forum someplace?
:bigsmyl:
I like to peruse the classifieds as well. I typically open Tradgang 1-3 times daily. I always go to Pow Wow first and then to the Classifieds.
I occasionally check out Sponsor Classifieds to look at knives. I am ALWAYS late on those threads though as the ones I like are already sold.
I'm not tempted near as much because LH, 50-55#, and recurve don't come to together very often. Of course as some I've met here can testify, these parameters have combined a dozen or more times over the past couple of years!
Of course I don't "need" any more bows or knives... or a few other things.
Joe
Aint that a bitch? I have a similar problem being a LEFTY!!
TO DAMNN MANY RIGHT HANDERS OUT THERE WITH NICE EQUIPMENT :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
If you are a fan of Jim Neaves bows and are lite on cash...
STAY OUT OF THE CLASSIFIEDS!!!
Wow is there ever some great possibilites right now!
:archer2: :archer2: :archer2:
Just switch to left handed shooting--lots less to tempt you! :saywhat:
Who would want to be cured? Not me!
My wife always asks "you on your bow-porn site?". I say yep. Could be worse.
Yeah, I'm having the same problem. Doesn't matter if its bows or firearms, my wife considers it extravagant, even though she has no idea how good some of the deals are.It seems relevant now, when making a deal, to ask if the sale price includes a divorce lawyer. But just the same, I look and anguish over the ones I can't but, but then usually have to sneak into the house those I do buy. Still, I will run the gauntlet at least one more time - I sure do like the HH Redman!
Bow porn- I've heard that before! Thankfully somebody (not me) bought that Dwyer today- been wanting to try one of those.....
my problem is I just can't pull the trigger on them anymore,, I really do apoligize to all of you who recieved my drool slobbered PM's..
I think I've owned around 200 bows since 86 most from trading and a bunch from bowyers I've had everything, I was recieving bows brandnew and putting them up for trade that night these custom bows that I waited months for where sold and never even shot, when I was younger I actually called a guy and begged him for his bow I think it was a sovereign Ballsitik which would of been my 3rd ballistik and in return I had a sears card which was my first credit card and I offered to buy this guy anything he wanted at sears thinking he'd want power tools and he said man you have to take it easy its only a bow and prety much hung up on me.... it really is a sickness to some people.
I think it started with me where I collected bowyer brochures by mailing to these folks back since the 80's... because of no computers I just drooled over the pictures and even tripled the phone bill talking to those guys,, many who are gone now. it was an interesting ride and I learned it doesn't matter what bow you own you will always shoot the same,,I'm glad I made it out before ending up homeless

So true--no such thing as the magic bow that will turn you into Robin Hood. :biglaugh:
Joe, If you dont get the bows, then I wont be tempted lol.
Oh Dude I know what your saying I think there was a time i didnt go a day without looking and a week with out BUYING!!! the funnier thing if I go a week without looking....I still look at a weeks worth of posts, so it doesnt get any better... Gahahahah
What I'm about to say is sacrilege, I'm down to one bow. :scared: Just sold a Golden sovereign to a guy in Kantuck. After the new year I'm gonna get a new one, if I can stay away from the classified that long. :dunno:
It's like my morning cigarette (which I have not had a real one in about 10 years now). Somedays even before I get in the shower, I grab my iphone, take a "seat" and start scrolling new ads.

Guilty of that too

WOW Danny! How much did you have to pay for that 300 year old Union Jack?? :)
I thought it would get better after trying enough bows......I was WRONG!!
Abstention, just don't visit the bow section and you'll all be just fine. :biglaugh:
Well, that is the only thing that works for this bow junkie.
Remember fellas if you make her mad enough she gets half of your bow collection.
Y'all are all sick and need help... Me I don't have a problem,, I can quit anytime I want to,,, I don't NEED to look I just enjoy it a few times a day,,
It's no big deal,, lots o people do it anyway and if relaxes me and makes me feel better..
So I don't have a problem. I can do without looking at it anytime I want to :)
Currently own 11 bows (!!! wth is wrong with me??)- currently trying to sell 3 of them, bout to decide to sell 1 or 2 more...then maybe I'll be down to ONLY 5 or 6...just traded 1 for another one, so now I've been introduced to the trade...it is a terrible addiction...haha...
All I can say is discovering Tradgang and the classifieds certainly hasn't helped. And what better hobby is there than collecting and using functional art?

They're all different and special in their own little ways. In my short time getting back into trad I've discovered and marveled at that. There have to be some superficial parallels between this and guys who date a lot of women, haha. But doing it with bows has got be cheaper and safer in the long run, haha
I've been clean since last June. Taking it one day at a time. Repeat after me:
I don't need another bow. I don't need another bow. I don't need another bow. I don't need another bow.
However, I did order and pay for a new Bear Kodiak and I haven't received it yet so that doesn't count. :help:

HAHA.
I am in the same boat as everyone else in this thread. Wife looking over my shoulder and at the bank account on her iphone at the same time. The old saying money grows on trees is true to us trad archers.
My last post wasn't true at all. I bought and received a Bear "A" Mag less than a month ago. The disease is so bad it has corrupted my memory. It's no wonder I feel dirty. :o
My problem is wanting them all. I hate to part with any of them allthough I have sold a couple in the last few months. I see so many I want but keep telling myself stick to the right weight range.
