Went out looking for turkeys this morning, and although none showed themselves, I had a great walk in the snowy woods. First, I went to my private ground 'honey hole'. We took some deer off of this property, but there are still plenty left. I probably saw 40 deer this morning. Here is a typical trail, showing lots of heavy use.

We left a few nice bucks on the place, hopefully they will do well over the winter. I saw this track, and a few seconds later, I saw a big 4x4 ahead; he was probably the guy who left this sign.

I enjoyed wandering around, looking for nonexistent birds.

With no turkeys around, I went to our public area. This place has deer, antelope and turkeys, and as the sign says, is open to archery only. It is right in town; pretty handy.

No turkeys here today, either, but the scenery isn't bad. This is Clear Creek, our little trout stream that runs through town and the hunting area.

There are lots of worse ways to spend a morning. Maybe the turkeys will cooperate next time. Mods, I sized these down in Photobucket, maybe to no avail.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
I fished Clear Creek in Buffalo Wyoming back in the 90's. My friend used to own the Buffalo Pawn Shop, I made and painted the sign that was out front. Is it still there?
I'm actually assuming you are near there......
hunted the soldiers and sailors too.
Pretty cool.....I'd like to see more Archery only areas.......But then I woke up!! LOL!

Still to close to thanksgiving for them turkeys! Thanks for taking us along on the walk.
Why do archers have to wear orange after the 14th if it is an archery only area??
Nice pics, thanks for sharing.
I wish we had a little bit of snow for tracking a lion. We are bone dry down here. It is unreal, normally we are up too are butts in snow at this time of year. I kinda do enjoy not having too fight that whitestuff though! :D

Beats the crap out of me; G and F only thought this up in the last couple of years. :dunno:
Me being from the east coast, I really enjoyed your pictures and walk, some day before I die, I'll get out that way and do a little walk of my own.
