Thats a cool pic
Got to get a picture of mine. Love it! The deer have a difficult time picking me out of the tree. I gonna like following this one.
Sorry this one isn't hunting, I don't take my camera hunting with me but I sure do love my Little Delta Plaid wool mackinaw. I saw more deer wearing it than I've seen in years this season using it instead of traditional camo. I'm hunting a new spot which might have something to do with the number of deer but none the less, they are there and not noticing me. The colors blend in perfectly in fall woods here in Arkansas.

Some very good pics so far and Travis that pic of you and that Buck is just "Awesome". Besides that "Majestic Buck" Her pullover really shows Mrs. T's work and how her color choice blends in with the background...These are for you Mrs. T...I was in the moment when my pic was taken and under my Evening stand green I have a vest of hers that 1/4 away Fred got me at Denton Hill this summer and a matching Haversack but I had it swung too far back in my photo...It blends so well you can't even see it... :D

I have already posted this photo a few times in the past week or so. It is my first traditional bow harvest and I was wearing Asbell "camo".

I have another vest and pullover ordered.

These pics are better than the hunting posts!
yes they are good pics, I'm out of the inner loop on material stuff here but whos miss Teresa is this Fred Asbells stuff?
Teresa Asbell is the lady behind all the great pictures. She makes all the wool products by hand and sells them with their Hunter Image business - click on the banner ad at the top left of this page.
Great products at a great price!
Fellas.... just a suggestion going forward with this thread. Please tell us the name of the pattern you are wearing in your pics so others know what to order from Miss Teresa....
As soon as the busy part of season is over I am going to order me and Mason a Shadow Plaid less the hood, double cape, and zipper. I love a pullover but the zipper makes it so much easier when changing from walk in layers to Asbell for outer layer while wearing a harness. With a non zip Asbell pullover like we have now I usually climb up, clip in to my harness, then after cool down add my Asbell or other heavy outer layer over my harness and to do that I have to unclip from the harness for a minute.
Im going for evening stand green and a cedar swamp plaid. I'm really liking the pullover ponchos too.
They are like Lay's potato chips, can't have just one! Here's my lightweight Little Delta Plaid...
The pullover in my earlier post is Evening Stand Brown; heavier weight.
Wore mine this mourning......great stuff, Thanks Mrs. A!! :wavey:
Again my Evening Stand Brown vest can't wait to ge to KaZoo and buy more! Cedar Swamp plaid, Timber Ghost, so many choices!
1/4 away Fred I guess I'll have to go out Friday and get another deer and make certain I have that vest you bought me this summer on from Mrs. T. so I can add it to the pics as well...Lord if you're willing I sure would like to be blessed and get one like Kaz got so I can show him what a real smile looks like  ..So far it looks like Mrs. Teresa has made quite a few Evening Stand Green pullovers...She's been a very busy lady...
Keefer, You definitely need a pic with you wearing the vest. The shirt I'm wearing under the vest is her old Montana Magic pattern but I just ordered myself a jacket in Evening Stand Brown.
Is that Cedar Swamp plaid Green and black and a little something else color wise? I can't tell for sure. :help:

I think that's just a little bit of "Old 1/4 away Fred" mixed in with it! if you are referring to the gray color! Oh and Fred if by chance the Good Lord Bless's me with a Buck like Kaz got I'll wear just the vest with nothing under it but bare chest and table muscle and take a pic just for you Brother...It won't be pretty but I'll definetly be smiling... :biglaugh:

I wear large shirts as well. I probably could get away with a medium in Teresa's wool, but I wear the large. That way there is plenty of room for layering.
Bill
John,
Get the Large cause she fiqures in a little extra room for layering...The hoods are big enougth to wear a ten gallon hat if you prefer the hood...She knows we sometimes eat seconds and possibly thirds during the holidays and seems to size them just right...
John - Get the size you think you need.....if you wear a large shirt, go with large. Teresa has spent quite a bit of time figuring size. A large will have some room for layering, AND....and this is important, she has tweaked the sizes and designs to reflect what a BOWHUNTER needs. She has one of the worlds greatest bowshooter for a guinea pig and critic. Her designs...from shoulders, to hood, to length, to pocket style, are designed for the bow hunter.
There are many excellent wool garments available, that while of excellent quality and value, are not truly designed for a bowhunter. My Filson wool cruiser is a great example. The pockets are awesome. The grey/black check is awesome. The quality is awesome. But the fit and shoulder/sleeve design make it difficult to shoot a bow.
Buy Asbell Wool with confidence. It was designed with the traditional bowshooter in mind.
Keefer, I'm gonna hold you to that promise.. Make sure to be wearing your man-bag as well.

Agree with others... I wear Medium shirt, I have all medium Asbell Wool. While you're at it, I recommend getting there windblocker vest!!! For really cold sits this is my layering and it's not bulky!!!
Very versatile to mix and match...
Cold Gear Under Armour Long Sleeve Compression fit shirt
Justin Charles Merino Wool Long Sleeve 3/4Zip Turtle neck Base Layer
Small Asbell Windblocker Vest with long turtle neck, higher in back than front...
Medium Asbell Evening Stand Green Pull-Over Shirt from the Mackinaw Set, no hood
Medium Asbell Evening Stand Brown Vest, no hood
Medium Asbell Evening Stand Green Mackinaw Cape & Hood from the set over it all...
I wear my treestand safety harness over the windblocker vest so it doesn't get in the way of the turtle neck, and then comes the shirt & vest, then stick the "tether" strap under the back of the Mackinaw cape so it's out of the way, plus I can put on & take off the cape in the stand if I want depending on temperature... Sweet set-up for sure! I wear each of the components individually too for early season wear options.
I also have two of their Wool Haversacks!!!! Sweet...
forgive me for the "in the trailer" pic but I was in a hurry.. anyways, Mrs. Asbell makes great clothes (http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg561/graybarkhunter/DSCF1021.jpg)es

23 your kid is a doll!
We need Mrs A to make kiddo wool.
Since I am asking we should add blaze orange vest to the mix for all of us that bow hunt while the army marches ;)
One thing that I love about traditional hunting is the USA made products and how the trad community supports them

But I think its a Hunters Specialty?
It works ok.....its a thin fleece base with cotton around the rim for folding down.

Looks like Evening Stand Brown to me... Great pattern!
That one is actually Evening Stand Green. The sahdow effect is making it brownish. Honestly, I still have to put the two together to tell the difference sometimes. Both are flat out awesome patterns.

Evening stand green is the pattern I am going to go with!
Got to wait till after the holidays, and then Mrs Asbell is gettin my order
I think her evening stand green pretty much go's with anything out there..It has got to be her number one color choice by looking at all the photo's put up here.....Her poor hands must be tired doing all that sewing for us..Mrs.Teresa you and traditional wool patterns just go together like peanut butter and chocolate  Old Fred must have his own special wardrobe with a different pattern each day of the year....Folks let's keep posting pics and let her know just how much we Appreciate her here...
Keefer, As a matter of fact I do have a few other patterns from Teresa besides the Cedar Swamp vest we have. And don't forget I have an Evening Stand Brown on order as well.
Here is my favorite for hunting from the ground. It's the Montana Magic pattern...
I also wear this pull over vest alot. Can't recall the pattern though..
Last but not least, I usually wear this one under the Montana magic if its really cold..
Fred that middle one is a great color also..I never saw that one before...

Evening Stand Green Pull-Over with Evening Stand Brown vest on top, no hoods...
My Evening Stand Green Mackinaw Cape fits over top, just didn't need it that day... Awesome patterns & garments!
My word, wool aside, that's got to be one of the most perfect looking whitetail bucks I have ever seen in my short life. DAAAAAANG!!!
Travis is there much difference in the color in the Evening stand brown from the green? Looks very much the same to me but if someone has both and can lay them side by side that would be great to see...
QuoteOriginally posted by Keefer:

Keefer- They're both great patterns! My personal thought is the Evening Stand Green shows a little more contrast, where the Evening Stand Brown adds a subtle brown blend... I have both and love them both! To me, they work incredibly well in the field... As you can see in the picture, it works well to mix & match :goldtooth:
I'll try and get pics up with the two side by side.
I'm so glad we have a thread celebrating Mrs. Asbell's work! Her pullovers are hands down the greatest piece of bowhunting gear I own. Comfort, function, and great looks...it doesn't get any better. I'll take my Asbell wool over clothing costing five times as much, any day! I picked up my first piece at Kzoo last year, and will be STOCKING UP this year.
This old Teresa shirt has some years and miles on it. Now that it's cooling down some this season I've started wearing my new hooded shirt in ESB. Ill probably pick up another in K'zoo this January. Good stuff, Teresa, Thanks!

Brian,
I was wondering how long it was going to take ya to reply back about that pic :D Man that head looks HUGE in that pic...That is Beyond extreme F.O.C...I bet as soon as it left the bow it went straight to the ground....I would of liked to see the hole that broadhead left..
Well, I don't have a pic here, but I am wearing one of Teresa's pullovers in a pic in this issue of Primitive Archer Mag.showing me, Byron Ferguson and the Hunting Editor of Primitive Archer magazine. (I still say the camera added 50 pounds to me, lol)
I've bought two pullovers from Teresa for my wife Rhonda, now, Teresa has gone a made one with a zipper. I can see another one for Rhonda.
You all need to come to the 2013 Pre-Spring Arrow Fling this coming February in Alabama, Teresa will have her outstanding wool garments here.
Terry Harris
Wow, there's a serious amount of plaid in this topic! the more i look, the more I'm wanting one of those hooded pullovers!
Got my shipping confirmation today! Yay for me!
Thanks to Teresa for quick turnaround. My first wool hunting gear ever. Very excited. Will post pics soon.
Anyone with a picture of the timber ghost pattern?
So for an update on the other recent Asbell thread. My missing wool is here. We had contacted the PO about it this morning. They said there was a sub yesterday and they would contact my normal carrier so he could check on it when he got there. The substitute mail man put the package drop key in the wrong mailbox. My neighbor came by and gave me a key a few minutes ago. Woooooo!
Teresa had even heard about it and offered replacements and was getting started. What a great person.
Needless to say USPS has failed in the CS department again. :clapper:

Captian,
Glad it all went well now go take that vest and put it on a "ceder hanger" not an Old navy hanger...It deserves more respect then that! Mrs.T worked hard on these wool garments and putting it on that hanger just gives the wrong person the credit..Now can you fix that pic please? :D
I guess she never expected to become a celebrity, but that just sometimes happens when you provide a superb product and even better customer service.
Got mine a couple years back at Denton Hill

Got my first Asbell wool for Christmas... great stuff! Evening stand brown zipper jacket. I didn't know if I would like the oversized hood but it actually works great, allowing me to turn my head without the hood blocking my view.
I may need to work on a new pair of gloves now! :biglaugh:

I got tha Timber Ghost jacket and vest for Christmas. Like Kaz I did not think I would like the hood as I don't like anything blacking my view. It has not been a problem. Even use it with the safety harness strap coming out the side of the hood. I will have another jacket before next season....

Chris,
I see you got one of Lee's recurves there...Good choice to go with that pullover
I have been wanting a wool shirt for some time. Thanks to my friend Keefer I took the plunge and not only ordered a pullover I got a vest coming also. Everything nice said about Teresa is definitately true. She was very pleasant to talk to and very helpful. Now all I have to do is wait. Thanks go out to Teresa ang all the Trag Gang who have posted here.
p.s. Hey Keith I will have my wife call you when she looks at the bank statement. Ha Ha
Got my timber ghost zipper jacket today; that makes 3 of Teresa's creations. I'm really liking the looks and fit of this new one. My large jackets were a bit long in the sleeve and a bit too big, so Teresa shortened the sleeves one inch, and said that the zipper makes the jacket lose about an inch in girth. This one is a perfect fit for me. Another great job by Teresa.
Tracy,
BANK STATEMENT,WIFE! :scared: Just have her call me anytime from Jan.12th to the 24th...I'll be on the otherside of this country and she will never find me...I didn't tell ya to go buy wool without "PERMISSION" from the Money keeper! What ya gota do is take $1.00 a week from your earnings and tell her you just want a cup of coffee during the week then she will feel sorry cause she keeps all the doe and more then likely hand you a $5.00....In a month or two you got whatcha need and can pay for one without touching the bank account....Now you owe me $20.00 for my consulting fee's and sound advice! ;)
I see how you work. I ordered a vest with a hood in timber ghost and a zippered pullover in evening stand green.
I got my order today and love it. The fit and quality are second to none. Could not be more pleased . Tracy
JUST ordered my extra heavy weight vest and blanket weight pullover today .extra large, I hope to stay warm here in Tx. next season

Don't know how I missed this thread. Please indicate the pattern with your pic's. These have been a big help. Sure would like to see a few more in the cover with timber ghost pic's.
I've got a shadow plaid vest and absolutely love it. Great for September elk hunts. I'm going to have to get a zippered jacket in the evening stand brown for the whitetail woods.
I have one of her woolen possibles bags/haversacks. That thing carried everything I needed in the field on my caribou hunt.
My wife has one of her sweaters for when she wants to bundle up. The sleeves are too long for her, but that just makes it more adorable!
OwlBait and KHalverson went for a stump shoot the otherday and sent me a pic of one of there rest stops. Looks pretty good and shows some of Teresa's handi work.

Wore my zippered timber ghost today. I love it more than my pullovers!
I have one of her wool pullovers I wear hunting often, and this year I ordered a haversack and matching GFA Quiver. Great products and great service from her and Fred!

Heres my Evening Stand Brown from the view of the 4 pointer at ten yards. He only noticed me because I was dumb enough to make eye contact :banghead: Love my pullover and vest!

2008 sound about right Roger? Its held up great through heavy use.
Yep.....Teresa is actually considering bringing that one back. I like it. Todd Smith wore it in Idaho this year. Very versatile pattern.
I've killed several critters while wearing it. The time only I remember being busted in it I was caught standing up and didn't even realize 2 deer had come in behind me.
