Got my suit last week. This thing looks great! Now I just need that cold weather. Who has one and what do you think of it?
I tried one on once, it was definately warm! I just didnt know if it would get in the way of my bow, this is what kept me from getting one. Let me know how yours works out for ya!
My hunting partner is a construction worker and he got a coat as a gift from Milwaukee(tools). This thing really works!!
Guys. I've got a suit that in my opinion is FAR BETTER than the heater body suit. It is called the Cocoon. Made by a bowhunter in North Dakota. It is one piece and has arm holes for your arms. Predator gray polarfleece. Rolls up and stuffs in a sack for carrying. Super warm and really light weight. Made with the best materials on the market. Will never wear out. I've got an extra one if anyone is interested in buying it. They sell for $500 and this one is NEW. I would sell for $350 TYD in CONUS. Send me an email at justin_falon@yahoo.com for information and pics.

George congrats on purchasing of the Heater Body suit.
For true 'cold weather hunting' nothing beats it.
I could have save myself a ton of dough if I would have went that route years ago. Don't get me wrong, fancy wool garments(expensive) are nice but your best bang out there for putting in your time on the stand is the heater type suits. But like any piece of equipment you have to practice and learn how to use it effectively.
Enjoy many 'comfortable' hours in your stand.

I have two, I bought one when they first come out. If I am hunting below 40 degrees, I have it with me. Not only does it keep you warm but I love to come out of it and shoot without any obstruction. I thought about modifications. I wish it had a small slot in the upper back that my hunting safety vest strap would go through to my safety line. My stepson used my second one without any issues but he has outgrown it and he will be leaving for college next season. I have shot some nice deer using it and my only thoughts is you look like a big blob in the tree.
After a few times, it will be second nature to put it on. I have some tips if it gets brutal cold. I use a vest with sewn in pockets in which I place body heater pads. Tim in NC
I plain on buying one this year cant wait to get it. Mike
Was in my today. -27 Celcius and I was cozy warm for a 5 hour sit. Best piece of cold weather clothing period! As far as getting out for a shot.....as long as it usually takes you to stand up and grab your bow.
I bought one last year and absolutely and categorically love it. I thought the zipper was a little loud but I have had no issues with it so far and I suspect I won't in the future. I have only worn it twice and so far it is two for two. You won't be disappointed. I think a couple of guys could of used the suit this spring up at bear camp :)
When Canadian guys like a product made to keep you warm you know it must work. They know cold!
I've owned mine going on 10 years and believe it is the best money you can spend on cold weather gear. Did an all day sit a few weeks ago, temp in the teens with a 20 mph wind. I could never do that with my standard cold weather clothing. I've sat in -15 degree weather with it, drop a few chemical hand warmers down the legs and you stay nice and toasty. The worst part is getting out of it, you get cold really fast. Good luck with yours.
Dang. Never gave one of these much thought bow hunting. But seeing this thread has me thinking!
They're great. I've had one for a long time now. They work great, and compared to a warm pair of pants and coat they're actually a good deal financially .
Great comments so far...and I agree with most. IMO I think a HBS is better than something with arm holes. You can get out of it and it gets out of your way fast. Had one for over ten years and also bought a newer one. I would buy another one if I needed it.
Frankly the best part is the fact that you wear less clothes. So when the shot comes, your muscles are warm and you don't have a lot of clothes on getting in your way like some michelon man. Both improve the shot...
If you are sitter and it is cold...get one...you will not regret it.
What no one has been able to tell me is how warm the HBS is after you've gotten out of it and had to stand motionless for half an hour while the deer comes that final few yards. I made a suit with armholes and I'm warm and toasty and can shoot well with a minimum of effort. If a feller wanted to save some money they could put a rectangular sleeping bag upside down over their head, cut a head hole and some arm holes and you'd be in business for only a few bucks.
I own a surf shop. We sell Quicksilver wetsuits. They make a vest that is heated. I have thought about getting one for late season. It is a very thin underlayer that would not mess with my draw. I like that I can hike in with it off then turn it on when I sit.
Totally agree with Dave, that is why I like mine so much, Your muscles are ready to shoot with no stiffness and no obstruction from bulky clothing.
Tracy, the shot depending how cold it is could wait to the last minute.
I made long lengh bow holders, HBS sells one but I like my own design. I stand and keep warm until I am ready to shoot. I slowly come out and grab my bow which is directly hanging in front of me. So, I guess I position myself first, then grab my bow. Once I am comitted, everything happens pretty fast. That is what I meant in my earlier post about getting use to it. Everydeer that I have killed since the suit came out, was with the heater body suit. I am a warm fanatic. Careful, you will fall asleep if you get to comfortable, I always tie myself in with a safety line. Tim in NC
Katie, that sounds like a good idea. I tried a regular wetsuit about 25-30 yrs ago and froze my butt off. I found out that they need the water to work. Live and learn. Tim in NC
I've worn mine sitting on a stool on the ground and have had a doe come up and sniff my neck :scared: what a rush....
Ive wondered how these things work myself.....I could sit ALL DAY with no problem....wont even need to eat or drink....just sit and enjoy....if it werent for the cold :scared: !!!!!

I got one last year and they are very nice. Just hasn't been very cold much to use it. However it's been great for taking my 8yr old boy, I may not get it back!!

I wore it today for my first all day sit in cold weather. It was 20 with a wind chill of about 10. I was NEVER cold! I dressed like it was about 40. The only time I was cold was the walk out. Best money I ever spent on a piece of clothing.
Yep, my favorite piece of gear.
It was so easy to get in I might start wearing it when it's going to be in the 30's. Right now I save it for the 20's. Dressing light is the big plus.
Happy to hear the good news BUCKY!
Best piece of cold weather gear I ever bought.
George you could have rented it out to Tom or me this morning. Was 10 when we parked the car.
I've been looking at getting one lately. It appears they no longer make them in the Predator pattern? Anyone have any insight on this? I have emailed them to see if they were still available but did not get a response. Thanks!
yeah I wish they still had the Skyline Apparition pattern too.
:campfire:
Predator or Skyline would seem to be the perfect patterns for these suits seeing that they are to be used mostly in late season (cold temps)tree stand situations when there is little to no cover available. Sure hope they bring them back!
I have one in skyline camo great for treestand or snow size L 5'8"-6' listed in hunting clothes.
That's a steal!!!
How bout some pics of these?? Or we links ? Thx
