The foliage is all but gone, the crops are down, winter is nearly here and the orange army is among us.
For those who are sticking it out and still trying to get it done, things are getting a little more challenging every week.
Myself, being stronger in body than in mind,( i never was the brightest bulb on the string of lights ) will be at it till the end, with my trusty ole longbow and wood shafts , trying to fill another tag.
If theres a cure for this sickness, think ill just pass!
Good Luck to all! :archer2:
The only cure to the sickness I know of is to be in the stand hunting. Ive learned that very few deer pass between me and the TV so I have to get out in the tree!
We have gun season starting this weekend so I will have a forced 3 week vacation. It gives me a couple weeks to smoke some jerky, cook a few meals of deer stew, and rest on the couch until the late season opens up.
Then, If I can brave the cold, I'll be back at it.
Cant shoot them sitting at home complaining.
Now if I can shake this Nasty cold/sinus infection!!! :banghead: :banghead:
Yep the soon of a guns in our area are getting nocturnal. We have one more weekend of rifle then in a week maybe they will be settled down a bit.
I am going to be after them for the duration.
Fixing to break out the selfbow since I already have plenty of meat in the freezer. Its funny I always end up hunting with it and the wood arrows the last part of the season. Just a bit more fun and I have already killed the biggest buck I will ever see in the wild with a recurve this year. Not bragging as it was all luck but I sure love me some selfbow December!
"Must be present to win!"
Been hunting right on thru firearm season, which ends here soon in Michigan! Most of the deer on my cam are showing up really early in the AM or right at dark! Still movement though, no gunshots anymore little snow has changed things too! Saw one of the small bucks I had seen in october is still alive and kicking! Really waiting for Dec and filling my antlerless tags!

Ain't that the Truth!!
The blaze orange will be in the woods here in Iowa starting saturday. I'll be avoiding the timber till about christmas when bow season opens back up again. Hoping to get out again this week, but don't know if i'll make it.
It's safe to say though, when the party hunts and the slugs come out, i'll be stayin out of woods.
I can't make myself stay out of the woods. We have over 8 weeks where firearms of some sort are legal, however we can still bow hunt. So I will be there too. All three of mine this year have been during a gun season, so I will continue I have more room in the freezer and more tags.
Chris
you could be hunting in SC where the season (gun, crossbow, bait, whatever) comes in aug 15 and goes through jan. 1
it's hard to see a deer in the daylight after thanksgiving around these parts but i'll be in woods on saturday happy as ever!
gotta change my posts #

Took me a minute to catch that. LOL
I've been after them bout every day, but haven't seen a live deer from my stand since the first gun season 11/16 thru 11/18.
I did have what sounded like a big chested deer blow at me yesterday at 11:30am after I got down and saw a big bodied buck with a lot of antler going in this afternoon at 11:15am. He was in a wide open white oak ridge..next one over. Going to start hunting through the middle of the day.
I see a lot of big bucks around noon every yr...warmer then too.
I am still hunting whenever I get a chance with my bow. It certainly has gotten more difficult on my place since gun season came in.
Im with you Blaino, no place id rather be. Worst case scenario, i may have to try my hand at some tree rats! No matter, as long as im in the woods its all good. :biglaugh:
will be in the woods tomorrow morning, can not wait
