I recently traded a BW PA for a mint Griffin and I couldn't be more happy with the trade. I knew he was making the Shrews for Ron, and from the pictures I saw of them they looked pretty much like a longer version of my Super Shrew. But after shooting it all day today I am truly impressed with everything about this bow. I am forever a fan of Mr.McCullough now. I highly recommend picking one up if you see one, or get on the crazy long waiting list.
Tom,So glad you like her my friend.I had a Super shrew deluxe,58" and I found both bows very similar.I did like the added length of the McCullogh.
The added length really makes a difference. My Super Shrew shoots awesome, but at my draw this bow is perfect. Plus its absolutely stunning, a real work of art.
I just purchased a Griffin off the classifieds, near mint as well. I am so happy with this bow. Everything about it. I'm shooting it pretty good too.
Pictures?
Great bows and a Great bowyer!!
I love my Griffin.

I had one and stupidly sold it... :banghead:
Ive got 4 on the rack and none of them are leaving my possession.
One of the finest longbows being made today, in my opinion. If all you own is a Griffin, you take a backseat to no one.
Does he have a website.I don't see him in the sponsers.
I don't think there is a website. However, there is a Griffin for sale by Biathlonman on page two of the classifieds right now. Nice bow.
John's # 517-626-6365 / no web site
I was having shoulder troubles about a year and 1/2 back or more . OK my problems went on for about three years until I found out what it was BUT , I called john and told him what my issues were, and he was very accommodating . he built a bow with limbs just like his personal bow. because john had shoulder problems also and knows exactly what guys are going through with those kind of problems. matter of fact I was on the shrew list at that time. and after I received my griffin bow, I took myself off the list.
john is a great person to work with , mine is made out of some wood from Hawaii it looks three dimensional like there's three layers to it. it's hard to describe and it's twice as hard to photograph .you definitely will NOT be disappointed for the long wait or the price.
I haven't been using mind lately and I was actually thinking of doing what easykeeper did !!
no thanks I got a keeper ! FOR NOW , But who knows
Carl
One of the finest longbows out there!! I've got one of John's rare carbon bows and it is a shooter..!!
Had one of John's takedown Griffins for about four years and got the itch to try something different and sold it, wish I had it back.
I waited a little over four years for a 59r, fabulous bow in every sense of the word, fit, finish and the way it shoots.
I've owned two 58" models and one 60" Griffin...still have one of the 58"s. I've owned/shot many of the more well known longbows and I was hooked the first time I shot one. I never would have thought a longbow design that short could outshoot all of the others! One of the smoothest, quietest, most inherently accurate bows around. For sure a favorite of mine. Same goes for the Shrews...I have a 56" Super Shrew that shoots very smooth at my 28" draw. But you just can't beat a McCullough Griffin!
I love the two piece I have for sale, just wish she was a couple pounds heavier...
I have had a McCullough 59er and two griffins. Top notch.
I bought one from John at the ETAR. Good move on my part love it. John was a great help, great bowyer and a even better man. TD.
John builds a flawless bow, in my opinion.
I have had 3. The 64" I currently own is truly a joy to shoot. Everything is perfect. I love the bow. rat'
They are meticulously crafted by a true master bowyer. John sometimes loses my ADHD mind in conversations about the engineering points of the bows but its reassuring that those features are built into my collection. Ive tried similar bows but hands down the Griffins were much cleaner in build.
